A few real positives tonight - T. Scully, J. Trengove, J. Grimes, J. mckenzie, C. Bartram all outstanding tonight

Not to be outdone though - had a chat with big Max at half time - reckons he's on track to start playing in 4 weeks. Hope for our sake this is correct. Can't wait to see the GIANT in action :-)

Wow, I can't see a spot for him in this side even in 4 weeks time. Would love him to get a game but he needs to earn it.

We shall see............

A fire is starting indeed and it has made its way up my trouser inseam and touched upon my crotch.

This kid is going to be game/structure changing to us and could be the ace needed in our impressive set of playing cards! Looks like he can actually kick a ball, can split a pack apart and take a big grab, and the kid is bloody bigger than Ian Hewitson's blood sugar levels!

Great news. Please let's not pump his tyres up too much before he's even kicked a ball for us in anger, but definitely looking forward to see what he can do.

All we can hope is that he gets through the rest of the year uninjured and builds some confidence with the knee. If he can work his way into Casey seniors that would be great. We should not even be thinking about him playing AFL...will need a lot of time to develop and build his body for AFL

haha exactly!!

as long as mckenzie doesnt have to return to the rookie list.. will be great to see Gawn in action and probably out do PJ, Spencer, Meesen, Martin, Fitz, etc..

Hmmn, but he looks like he needs to trim down a little. Has he started to run yet? He'll need to shape up, shirley?

What?

Two letters: P. And J.

Having said that, I highly doubt Gawn will get himself to a position where he is pushing for selection. By the time he's fit enough to start playing, then comes back through the Casey seconds, then Casey proper, the season will be close to done.

I do not see the potential for a Max Gawn sighting until next year. That may not be a bad thing however as I highly doubt he could make a positive contribution this year.

That said, I am hoping for him to be a regular in the team in 2 years.

Keep growing Maxy!

At earliest we'll see him in 2012 IMO. Jamar is our number 1 ruckman and for the rest of this year and next year we'll see the 2nd ruck spot shared between PJ, Pencil and Stef Martin. If anything I reckon we'll be likely to see Fitzpatrick before Gawn, but Gawn will be a gun, don't worry about that.

Make it happen.

You wacka- he will play for Casey 2nds for the start.May make the Dees line up in 2011 or 2012.

Don't forget he can go forward and snag a few sausage rolls...

Maxy was a half time speaker in the redlegs a few weeks ago, and he happened to say that he thinks he has potential up forward especially seeing as he kicked 25 goals in 4 games!!!

I assume it was for his Sandringham junior side but hes clearly capable!

Hopefully he's modelling himself on Sandilands thats all I can say...

The thread is correct-- he told me and I posted it- two weeks ago that he was 4/6 weeks away. So the indefinate is just that- not sure if it is 3 weeks, or 4 weeks away.

Hahah he is not a sperm whale!

Nah bugger that he's right to go. Let's through caution to the wind and set this shite off!

yeah he has- a few modifications had to be made at training however- We had to get the grass at Casey pulled up and replaced with a mixture of synthetic grass and mint-patty, as to fool the great one's senses and lure him out onto the oval, where a centre square of coconut sprinkles and a 20kg Christmas ham sit temptingly.. the faint scent of the fondue station we had to set up behind the goal posts should set the massive unit on a slow and excruciating shuffle through the 50m arc, up until he finds a football which had been previously hollowed out and filled with mince meat- this football is also rigged up to a piece of string, as to set the massive blob through his paces and start on the cardio. Intermittent stops at the fondue station excused- the big fella is and has been for the last 20 years of his life; carbo loading.

Who are we actually talking about? Who is “Shirley” coincidently, how does he “shape (him/her) up”?

(edit: Casey now looks like a gaggle of crackheads broke into Smorgies.. tragic)

where is fitzpatrick by the way. He is not on the injured list and did not play in casey 1s or 2s this week?

I reckon they may give him a 1 or 2 game Taste Test in the 2nd half of 2011. All going to plan.

How will they get those tongs out of his hands? Oh, & don't ever call him Shirley, Mrs Gawn will never forgive you. :)

If Gawn had started the season fully fit it is unlikely he would have a game in the seniors this year. Big tall rucks take time to develop. How long is it since Jamar debuted, and he is only now really hitting his straps. With no play this year, he will spens 2011 at Casey. I would say 2012 is the first we will see of Gawn in the seniors. And I am really looking forward to it.

And Fitzpatrick has said he is a forward, and wants to play as a forward, and is not a ruck. I like the idea of a 200cm forward to go with Watts and Jurrah. Maybe 2011, but more like 2012. If he can manage his CFS.

So our ruck stocks for the present are Jamar (playing at his best since he pulled on the R&B), PJ (useful backup, but maybe not in the wet) and Spencer (young bloke still developing - only 7 games). Gawn and Meesen both out injured. Martin is a fillin assistant, not a ruckman.

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
