According to the MMM call, it's out now and they can't get it back in, after coming into the game with it loose after last week.

Shocking for the kid after doing so well so far this year. The cost of being such a gutsy player.

According to the call they've JUST put it back in...

So what do the resident medicos (the ACTUAL medicos) here think?

Dr Peter Larkins says it will require an appointment with the specialist.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see now but knoowing our luck it will be a full one.

Watts to come in??????? Ha

Watching the tv 1 hr delayed telecast.... Petterd just left the ground. He initially hurt it against brisbane last week. Landed on an outstretched arm. Hyperflexion injury - more than likely an ac joint last week. Definitely an anterior dislocation as he walked off this week. Whether it needs surgery or not is dependent on what is actually damaged - joint capsule/ligaments/boney avulsions etcetera. They'll get it back in, might need some anaesthetic to do it if they struggle as reported. Then its a matter of settling any pain and swelling. Have an MRI over the few days to assess how much damage there is and decide on treatment options then - surgical or conservative rehab and get it strong. Conservative management if appropriate will get him back sooner. Probably up to 12 weeks if it needs surgery. I'm private physio if you're wondering about my quals. Been doing this for 15 years

Larkins reckons he'll need a reco. At risk of sparking off another insufferable 8 pages of rubbish, opportunity for Watts??

considering the forward line was nothing, I would hope so, and I think its time for the young man to get some AFL games under his belt. ;)

For it to pop out 3 times in 1 game its obviously very unstable. From experience, the pain when its out is terrible but when its back in, if you haven't done any bone damage you get full pain free movement back.

He can't go on with it coming out all the time. They can fix them with keyhole surgery these days, unlike the 10cm scar on my shoulder. Might see him back sooner than you all think. Its a shame all the same.

I know a little about these shoulder injuries and to me it looked like he popped it out last week and not hurt his AC joint like some have suggested.

He will require a reco now. Whether the club wants to try nurse him through like Adelaide did with Porplyzia or send him straight for surgey is the question. I suspect that is his season done, and even possibly his career with the MFC.

why would he want to leave? we're abojut to become a powerhouse again. even after today, i'm not absolutely shattered. i think its a reality check that will be good for them to refocus and not get ahead of themselves. was always going to happen at some stage. get them up and about for next friday night and put in a good contest.

but i think petterd and jamar should be rewarded with bigger contracts next year and i think we have some room to move in the cap. on the form this year so far they deserve it. get petted right and he'll be back better than ever contributing to melbourne's tilt at flag in the coming years.

He hurt his shoulder last week.

Yet he played this week?

Well done the the MFC coaches and medical staff. No doubt Ricky will now bolt for the Gold Coast, and I dont blame him.

If he's fit to play, which he was, then he plays. Take that into consideration.

Posted

Season possibly, but I doubt career. He seems to want to stay, and they won't ditch him.

Yeah he sort of does. I'm only basing this on rumour and nothing substancial. That he has supposedly told us not to talk contracts until the end of the season is a worry. But I guess we'll find out.

I hope he's using this season to decide whether to stay or leave. If he sees us winning, then he should stay.

It's not a worry. It just shows he has a manager with half a brain recognising his value will be greater at season's end.

Though that plan may backfire a little if a reco is needed.

Funny, I was going to bring this up too.

Do people think he's ready yet? Would we be better off bringing in a more experienced player, or perhaps one of the smaller guys who've been pushing for selection? Bail needs to come back into the team for a start. Would you take Watts over him?

I had a very brief chat with Jack before the game at Southport yesterday. He indicated he is very keen to get a call up. Alas, based on what I saw in the game yesterday, I just can't see the call coming just yet. I would think they would want him taking the game on and excelling at the VFL level before they give him another run at Melb.

But, then again, the Football Dept knows better than me. Should they decide he's ready, and give him a run, and he does well, I certainly won't complain!

do you know something we don't?

No, sorry I didn't mean it like that. I stated a few posts later that I was only basing that on the rumours, nothing substantial.

But I will be very surpirsed if he plays again this season. That is the 3rd time its popped out so far that we know of.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
