Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

"Colin Sylvia and Cale Morton are returning, however the inclusions might bump McKenzie off the field."

maybe the journo knows something we don't..

Yeah. Perhaps Jordie mentioned that he'd struggle to keep his spot when they were both back and the journo inferred something that wasn't there?

I think the journo doesn't have an inch of credibility:

Poor accuracy in the first half kept the home side to one goal but a six-goal-to-none second half was enough to seal the deal in the low scoring encounter.

Close but no cigar.

Idiot journalism aside, would their return really push Jordie out. I think he has been one of our most important players in the first 3 rounds. If it has been our increased pressure that resulted in the improved performace, then surely we would look to the players that have been included that executed this pressure.

I think the journo has no idea, and even if they both came back in Jordie would not be one of the two to make way.

Cale Morton is walking laps, had a chat over the fence at JO, well ahead of schedule but coming along nicely, at least another three weeks

Geez, you guys are a bunch of keyboard heroes, aren't you?

Sure, there was a factual error in that piece with regard to the second half scoring on Sunday. Sure, the information about Morton being a chance to return isn't likely to be right

But does it really warrant the nastiness that's spilled forth from most of you? I think not. Branding someone who is in all likelihood a reporter in her early 20s, in her first job out of uni, an "idiot", a "fool" and a practitioner of "crap journalism" reflects worse on you than the errors do on her.

You wouldn't be doing Media/Journalism/Communications at Uni by any chance would you, I get the same reaction from my daughter who is when I have the temerity to criticise the inhabitants of the 'Fourth Estate"

No, I'm not. I just like to keep things in perspective.

By all means, have a crack at Caroline Wilson or Mike Sheahan if they were to do the same thing, but castigating someone who is in all likelihood a very junior reporter for inconsequential factual errors is the worst kind of journalist bashing.

My thoughts exactly. The media doesn't appreciate the scrutiny it applies turned back on itself.

It is shoddy journalism and the writer should be held accountable for the garbage he has recounted. It is either fictional or poorly researched.

Edit: Perhaps this should be another thread. And Mikey if this junior journo isn't made accountable for writing this rubbish then a junior journo he will remain.

There certainly need to be accountability, no doubt. Hopefully the errors have been picked up and pointed out - to both the reporter and the editors who overlooked them. But I reckon some of the abuse hurled at this reporter from some posters is more about those posters making themselves feel superior and not about holding a reporter to account for their error.

Edit: Perhaps this should be another thread. And Mikey if this junior journo isn't made accountable for writing this rubbish then a junior journo he will remain.

What was that about poorly researched? ;)

Fair enough, "idiot" was probably a bit harsh. But overall the media is appallingly bad in this country, not just with football.

McKenzie is a rookie listed player who got elevated when Morton was injured (Is that correct?)

However if Morton returns then there needs to be someone to go off the main list back to the rookies?

We have three elevated rookies (Spencer, Newton and Jordie at the moment and two players on LTI (Gawn and Jurrah)).

I would think that would have to be Newton demoted. I cant see Jordie going down.

I am with Mikey J on the unnecessary and somewhat typical anonymous swipes at journalism.

Strewth! It's just a local-boy-making-his-way-in-the-big-time feel good story. Lighten up and give the girl a break.

The suggestion his position is in jeopardy seems to have come from Jordie.

A journalist at a country newspaper covers just about everything. She probably spends half her life bored to snores in the council chamber reporting on planning issues or a controversy over a nursing home extension. Bit much to expect her to know the Melbourne score in every detail last Saturday.

I might be making this up, but I'm pretty sure you are now able to permanently promote a rookie onto your senior list in the middle of the year, and not have it be at the expense of a LTI.

Is that right?

I just wonder is there a timing issue between being able to elevate and the return of Morton.

...typical anonymous swipes at journalism.

Only typical because of how bad they are, and i'm not talking about country fluff pieces i'm talking about major inaccuracies from major and supposedely reputable papers. Part of my job is to brief people on what the media prints inaccurately, or misunderstands. It is truly shocking how bad it is. By and large Journalists are idiots, and idiots with power, but it was unfair to paint this one with the same brush, born out of frustration mostly.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
