A couple of questions for the brains trust ...

1> Which of the glut of 1st year mids should I choose, to make a heap of dollars then maybe upgrade later? And how many can I afford to include?

I was thinking of including three out of the following, in order of preference (yes, I know they are the top draft 5 picks, but I actually think they are the 5 most likely to play a lot, along with Brad Sheppard who is in my backline).

* Jack Trengove

* Dustin Martin

* Tom Scully

* Anthony Morabito

* Ben Cunnington

* (anyone else??)

2> Who are the best of the mid priced 2nd/3rd/4th etc year players? That is, who are most likely to take the leap to become top priced players (like our boy, Grimesy, did last year), and hence, again, make a heap of dollars?

Who should I pick, or avoid, from these guys? And, are there any others I should consider?

* Trent Cotchin

* Hamish Hartlett

* Jack Zeibell

* Alex Rance

* Rhys Palmer

* Patrick Dangerfield

* (anyone else??)

Any advice would be heartily welcomed.

Already in one league for my first year at this SC and DT thing.

Thought I might try what someone else said and make up a Dees team solely and see how they travel. Might be interesting.

Now to find out if I can squeeze in anywhere........

Haven't looked at my side yet. I'd look at the NAB Cup and form of the players you mention. Look for who you think will play an integral part of the H&A season and where they will play (ie. game time and their stats).

For now, I think you could do alot worse than have Trengove and Scully in your side. :)

Hope you dont mind. I have also joined this league. (SuperDees).

Also, some may laugh but I think B.Miller could be a good smokey this year. If we are better then we have been, then hw should take plenty of grabs due to his constant leads, and heres hoping he may finally pull it all together.

Also, apparantly Bastinac for the Roo's is a cheap pick and from all reports is impressing big time.

Not at all, I want it full of Demonlanders :)

I lost interest in it last year as I missed a few weeks, but want to stay on top of it this year :)

I Decided against the likes of Ablett and a few of the others right at the top and went with Hodge as my captain, thought Judd was cheap

I don't pretend to be an expert mate, but IMO Martin & Trengove are in for sure - subject to injury/ NAB cup time/ performances.

I'd avoid Hamish Hartlett like the plague, a mate was involved with the short flower last season and he had a terrible run of injuries, from the sounds of it he's not quite right yet. No doubt he'll get past those injuries at some stage but I wouldn't be attempting to time it myself. Better less prone players IMO. Having said that I could be hypocritical having Grimes in my team, eh. Reckon Zeibell's injury not being a soft tissue one like HH's several, is worth overlooking - an inclusion in both my SC & DT sides. Dangerfield has a lot of upside IMO and I like him as a pacy, exciting player from a spectators viewpoint, crows website sounds like he's recovered well enough from his scare for the start of the season.

I haven't been able to fit Morabito into my side at present, but definitely worth considering given Freo will probably need to blood more players in what I consider will be another underperforming season.

I like the look of Edwards from richmond (defender & Fwd I believe) and Suban of freo isn't too steep yet.

    Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

    A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

    BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

    Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
