Is there a naming trademark issue between "Melbourne" and "Melbourne Victory"

Good Song to get involved in while at the game tho Gippy,

I wish our supporters were as passionate as the victory fans,

Keep in mind that they are compensating for the fact that they are otherwise bored shirtless for 90 minutes (less any goals or faked injuries). I went to a Victory game once and spent more time watching the clowns behind the goal.

And there is no trademark issue, we have a 140 plus year start on them and that is why they are called Melbourne Victory FC and we are Melbourne FC.

You are aware that Highbury and Emirates Stadium are completely different places?

I've been watching football here and in England for 20 years - what works for them is artificial, forced and an embarassment for us. You'll notice that everyone STFU very quickly when there's a goalscoring opportunity - the fact that there's an opportunity every couple of minutes in our sports ruins any flow that you'd get. I've heard people try it and it's absolutely painful.

Atmosphere is overrated anyway. You're there to watch your team try and win a game - anything else is a bonus.

Correct, there is too much scoring in our game for long constructed Chants. Sometimes in soccer it is a scoreless game for 90+ minutes!!

And the insinuation on this thread, that i, because i do not sing am not a passionate supporter is a little offensive to me & many others.

I have lost my voice many times for the betterment of the Melbourne Football Club, & i shall continue to do so.

P.S Go the Gunners BTW. EPL is great soccer to watch. The A League is getting there.

Good man, I'm a gooner myself.

And I also take exception to the insinuation that I am not passionate because I don't sing or chant (a direct result of all the flat spots in football games).

Footy does not lend itself to this type of crowd behaviour as it is too fast-paced and high scoring, and I often can't speak for the rest of the day after a game.

Carn you might Demons!

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
