I'm not convinced about Cheney either - but at 19 he has a bigger body - and a greater capacity to improve than Barts ( and I think he is showing signs of being a good decision maker>

I personally feel Clint has been shafted by the club. Was told last year after his top ten placing at the B&F that he would recieve a two year contract, with details to be worked out 'soon'. Nealry twelve months later, was offered a one year contract, along with a substantial pay cut. Thats right, a club finding it hard to meet the minimum salary cap was seeking players to take reduced pay.

Clint struggled this year after the death of his father, something noone can just easily adapt to. And the club let him down. He was told to play 'one or two' games at Casey to get his mind right, and then straight back into the team. That one or two quickly became six. He was dropped for a few of the last games purely because 'Connelly doesn't want him to play'.

A number of clubs came asking about him come end of season, and the club made the decision not to trade him. He said he wanted to go, and they refused to do a deal.

He'll get a gig somewhere else, no doubt. If he is played as a true tagger, something Bailey has refused to do all year, he will be a valuable player to a side.

I'm sadden to here of the delisting of buckley, and the possible delisting of Bartrum. Both players will become good elsewhere, if picked up.

I understand that space is needed to be made on the list.

But there are players on that list, that i personally would have moved before them.

Guys like Bell, Newton and PJ are, to many, only saved by contracts. Cheney and McNamara are uncontracted and not everyone is a believer.

Likely that 2 of Bartram, Cheney or McNamara will be removed from the senior list.

As said before Bartram has the pace and desire, struggles with the poise and skills. Would be ok as an inside mid but doesnt have the build for it and lacks the polish to be an outside player.

I can see Bartram being delisted and Tmac being rookied.

I'd rather have PSD1 than pick 34. Also, Spencer is not AFL standard yet.

I still feel that we would benefit more from having pick 34 than keeping people like Michael Newton and Paul Johnson etc. on the list but if we aren't going to get rid of one other (I know that Newton has a contract etc.) then so be it, 4 quality players and hopefully one other in the PSD is a good off-season result when it's all said and done.

Can't wait for these first four picks, Strauss and Blease to debut and Watts, Grimes, Jurrah, Morton, Jones, Frawley, Wonna and Bate to all keep improving. I can't see Barts getting many games to be honest unless we have injury problems.....

Considering the club finished bottom I'de suggest its a bad result. I would have thought turning over as many players on the list that are fringe players or deemed not essential to the future success of the club would be the goal. If Bartram has been offered one year and he is asking for two, let him find a two year contract at another club. I really can't see any other club offering that to him.

McNamara & Cheney would be bigger losses than Bartram IMO. In any event it looks like the club will be using pick 34 as one of the three players look pretty certain to be delisted.

Sorry mate missed that, yeh I'de agree Buckley has a lot more upside than Bartram. Bartram probably can't get much better than the level he is currently playing at.

I remember a few games in the 08 season Buckley had 20 or so touches running through the midfield and off half back. At the time he didn't seem to be able to use the ball well enough consistently and often got caught in possession, in other words he was very raw. I guess the club has made a judgement on him that he is not going to improve anymore or he had decided to try his luck elsewhere?

Personally I thought he would have been worth giving another year to see if he had the ability to improve. If the club's axed him however, I'de back their judgement. They see the guy in training day in day out and have made some good calls on players that have already been let go in the last couple of years.

Not so sure it is rubbish, [censored]. By 2012 we should have found 22 players who are better than Bartram. If we haven't, then we won't be very good, because Bartram isn't very good.
