1. Nowhere in any rule book is there mention of "in a tight grand final don't pay free kicks or 50 meter penalties for abuse to umpires." If you want to have a go at somebody about the penalty for that indiscretion then direct it at the Rules Committee.

2. Mark Canning (goal umpire in question) will, bar his personal decision to retire, be back on the AFL list next year. He was #2 going into the Prelims and the bloke who was #1 didn't even end up with the emergency gig on GF day. He'll be back next year without a doubt.
