Just heard a rumor from a reliable source saying Yarran has walked out on Carlton. Being kept hush hush apparently. Looks like that might be a trade for them to West Coast or Fremantle. Both of whom I know aren't fans of trading with Carlton! hehe..... The blues have copped what they deserve if you ask me!

I love this sort of goss.

Boak has had a very impressive year:

Boak is becoming a very good player, has shown why he was Pick 5 this year. Would anyone take Boak + Pick 8/9 (Port's 1st) for Pick 2? That would give them home grown Trengove and we'd get a ready made gun onballer from Victoria.

Big question on how good Pick 9 might be? Ziebell was Pick 9 last year, would happily take Ziebell/Boak for Trengove.

PSD pick is gold. Gee we better get beat this week.....I hate saying that.

Looking at your suggestion has made me really think about the prospect of doing a deal for pick 2 for a player and say pick 8/9. I am not sure if Boak, the player mentioned is as good or better than Trengove but if we assumed he was similar and is a Melbourne boy ( no go home factor ) and we could also get pick 8/9, the deal becomes very interesting.

We would then be getting two players for the pick and effectively three inside the first 8/9.

The other big issue of course is whether that sort of deal is possible.

keep picks one and two...but lets see what maybe 18 and 34..with or without players might garner..Trengove is worth keeping

Hey folks, just thought I'd add I did just notice Yarran has been named as an emergency for this week so I'll grill my source a bit more about it tomorrow to try and confirm. Hopefully I haven't been fed a porky. If so I appologise.

Your fate will be decided tonight 9:30pm, on the footy show during 'Hutchys' segment!! :o;)

It's that endless pit of 'brown paper bag' TD.

Drives me insane this club. Every man and his dog it seems are now attracted to this club that's - going places - let's be honest. All because of the Judd factor.

Hopefully we're in this position soon enough.

Let's just hope they don't win one before Fev retires. It'll be extremely difficult without him.

Sean Wellman.

Warnock can cover the big bodies, Garland to take the athletic types, Frawley can do both. Still think Martin's best possie is the back.

Rivers doesn't really create run but I've earmarked Bennell and Strauss for that job.

Rivers is good but he can be covered. Boak is going to be a really good player. IMO better then Salopek. Rivers and pick 18 would be a steal.

The thing about Rivers is he reads the play so beautifully. I wouldn't trade him unless it was for Selwood or Hodge. But even then, we'd be compromising our rising strength in the backline...I just don't think it's a smart move. Finally, we have a backhalf that is worthy of being talked about.

This is such an intangible. I understand why people don't rack it up as a "stat" in his pros column.

My feeling on the guy is that he's MORE than proven in the past that his so-called disadvantages in size, pace, kicking ability were more than compensated by with his quite superb footy brain and competitiveness. In the Freo comeback last season I think I saw possibly the best 6(?) possession game I'd ever seen. Certainly since the days of Al Nicholson.

His issues as a player have never curtailed him in the past, and I think the increased pace of the game is greatly overexaggerated, particularly when it comes to how badly it'll hurt Rivers.

A Boak-Rivers trade is hopelessly weighted in one direction, but the way people have abandoned Rivers is saddening to me. I still rate him as one of the most important guys in Red and Blue.

Here here! Couldn't have said it any better myself.

not a lot of years back when Hollywood departed Jared steped into the breach and acquitted himself very well, and he had some shoes to fill as despite many things that Biz wasnt..a good reader and director of the ball he was. Rivers was the new defensive general. Then the wheels fell off with injury, his pace diminished and his ability to be as effective lowered. For mine he hasnt got back there. he may,,,but he might not. Clouds hover.

For me its a comparison of posibilities and potential..and here Boak will eclipse Rivers. Value v Value its worth looking at trades.

Boak will be a gun.......would love to get him to the dees.

And whilst i'd hate to see rivers go, well, lets just say we have plenty of quality young key defenders.....

Anyone that believes throwing pick TWO out on the trade table is crazy.

Trengove will be just as good as Scully. Probably show more in his first season as he has a more mature body.

We don't hear much about him because he is an SA boy and Scully is obviously the talk of the town in Victoria.

But I am telling you, BP rates him very highly.

I know there have been rumours flying around, but I can share something that I know is fact. Can't share the source.

Scully is a lock in @ #1

#2 is most likely to be Trengove. About 90% lock in. Also depends on how keen he would be to commit to staying in Melbourne. I promise you that we will not be drafting from WA with pick #2.

Take it as you may, but I wouldn't bring a rumour that I had heard from a friend to demonland just for the fun.

This is 1st person info.

Scully is already locked in with #1, Trengove is who we are keen on for #2.

Yarran hasn't walked out on Carlton.

Yarran flew home to WA for a Funeral last week some time, and some clown called into SEN saying I just saw Yarran board a flight to Perth - he must be leaving Carlton and going home.

The Age was quick to report the next day that he was in fact going home for a funeral.

He played quite well for the Bullants last week, and has been named as an Emergency again this week.

NB: Freo and Carlton will clash heads again this October when trading for Marcus Drum

Yes I appologise, I'll put my hand up. Wont be trusting the source that told me again that's for sure. Saw he has been named for Bullants this week also. My bad!

Geez id be nice if he slipped thru to pick 18 - wouldn't it?? ;)

He was in my consideration for that 2nd priority pick originally - if we were to get it -

but i think because Trengoves recent feats against big - bodied players - men, push him up as the preferred choise for us.

While a couple of 'flashy' WA boys and some teams need for a tall or certain type, may push his pick down a bit further -i still think he'll be top 10.

(I'd take him ahead of Panos too, if they both got to pick 18 somehow - cause i think our forward line is set - and just needs to mature. The way the games going, a typical forward-line will soon mainly consist of goal-kicking resting Mids anyway, with only 1 or 2 proper talls and no true flankers.. but again, i digress)

No way! Never trading Rivers, he's the leader of our defence and with Rivers, Garland, Frawley, Warnock & Bennell all there we have a premiership defence in the waiting.

apparantly Junior will play in defence next year if you listen to some

No one's going to trade Boak for Rivers, it's pure fantasy. However I'm expecting quite a few on here to be happy it doesn't happens because Rivers has a burning desire to play football and with a full season and preseason the only way is up. The thing we know about Rivers is that his best is very bloody good and I can't wait to see it again.

Boak, Salopek and Pearce want out ... the wheels are falling off at Port!

Wholly smoke!

Could this end up a mutany!? In order keep those quality players at Port - what do they do....get rid of the newly signed coach?

Port Adelaide seem to have made one hell of a blunder if this is true.

That's their future wanting to leave. A former No.5 draft pick, a very good player & a rising star. Wow.

You'd go close. But why not coax him into the preseason draft with a good salary{performance based of course} and get him for free :o
