Granted Robbo is aging, and has his weaknesses but do yourself a favour, go back through goalkicking lists, for as many years as you like, and see how many players are actually able to kick over 40 goals a year, something Robbo achieved on several occasions. Just think he deserves a little bit more respect on this site at times.

Wheatly is the only one of the four who should stay on the list.He has pace ,uses the ball well and can play small or tall.The other 3 will go.Valenti was oktoday Ilike the way he uses the ball. Got caught twice today but 1 was due to a typically crap kick by junior.

If I was managing the list I would trade mclean for a higher pick if anyone would take him.trade miller if you can get anything for him.His kicking is a constant liability.I would keep newton on the list although I am pretty sure he will not succeed.Continue the youth policyand keep playing the valentis ,mckenzie bennell etc

It is frustrating on Demonland that in the passing stages of a players career, some supporters memory flies out the window. Even on a small, though public forum like this, players should be spoken about with a certain amount of respect.

It wasn't that long ago that Robbo turned down the opportunity to play for a club heading toward a tilt at serious finals footy. He chose to stay and battle on with us.

It's a fair point you make but noone's really upset by his form it's his second efforts, or lack thereof that have become a problem for myself and others. No doubt he has been a loyal servant of the club but in a young team he needs to set the example in regards to effort and application. Lying on the ground watching the backmen run off him is not acceptable. The way Scarlett played him at Geelong is fair proof that he needs to retire. He's never been a favourite of mine but I'll hold onto some good memories.

Why do so many people seem to think Wheatley uses the ball well purely because he can kick long??

He often wastes possession.

Miller will have lost all trade value by now.

Trading Brock would yield a return too poor to be worth the trouble.

Valenti would garner quite a bit of interest if the AFL moves their backside re: making rookie listed players tradeable, but he's not good enough and I don't think he ever will be.

Agree Fork. Robbo has been a great servant of the club and does love the club.

The bloodlust some members of this forum display at times is unwarranted. Yes, we are passionate and yes, we should be ruthless in putting together a list capable of winning a premiership.

But we should remian respectful of players who have given their all for this club.

Robbo has been great for our club, but his time is up.

Robbo should not be offered a new contract - and reading what Bailey has said I do not think he will be. He has at times been a good player - he will retire with a very good highlights reel - but he has also been at times a very ordinary player. Like many of our 'stars' of the Daniher era there was a gaping chasm between his best and worst. In my memory what damns Robbo most is that the times he applied defensive pressure it always stood out because I had become used to him not doing the chasing and the tackling.

Good luck to him in whatever he chooses to do and he will always be welcome around the MFC.

You raise some very good points that I completely agree with - I guess the point of these forums is to vent emotionally about the club we love.

In short he's been a great player who will leave us with a lot of happy memories, however to think he is past it and to support the club's decision to drop him is not moronic Bbv...

He was actually marked tightly. Alex Rance was given the job on him and he was closely played. It was tough for the forwards because of the windy conditions, but he chased, tackled and put his body on the line. No doubt it's difficult for him to come back, but he'll bounce back.

Here are some facts for you:

TJ was a disappointment as a player and a person and we got Grimes because of his trade.

Robbo deserves respect as a very good player for the MFC but his last game will be against St Kilda in Rd 22.

The previous board didn't do what it set out to do, but to accuse the selfless people who have done more than the club than others (including your clueless self) of deliberately putting us in this predicament is pathetic.

I find it difficult to argue with someone who thinks that we should have kept TJ after looking at his performances with Brisbane this year. Voss clearly is not impressed with his output, he's dropped him several times and will struggle to get back into the team, and the supporters have gone from thinking he was a steal for pick 14 to happy to take a 3rd rounder for him.

He's played 11 games this year and has gotten more than 20 touches on just 4 occasions, for a player of his talent it's just not good enough.

I wouldn't. I originally thought that was your report and thought you're kidding. But it was Peter German's report. Good grief.

A number of senior players when they come to the end of line often end up in the reserves where they provide performance, experience, example and leadership to younger players. Yze, White, Bizzell, Brown all provided that. But not Robbo. He might have had a great career with MFC but he is finishing like a sulking primadonna that been overlooked.

You are right about the conditions. They were hard for forwards. But did Robbo's teammates give up in the conditions. Could they be bothered to chase, keep their feet and put in the hard second efforts?? You bet they could.......but not Robbo. The gulf between the side's work rate and Robbo's rate was enormous.

He will get a send off game in R21/22 but he wont get it based on the performance on Saturday.

Its a sad finish for a player who has given and got so much to the Club. It makes a lie of those pining for another on the basis that he somehow takes (but not challenges) the best defenders and being a role model for younger players. Disappointing.

Even the most optimistic Robbo fan would find it hard to craft a case for a contract extension next year.

Your Right Fork, but this is obviously the result of many ongoing years of supporter frustration with the clubs failures, so supporters I believe are starting to take it upon themselves to voice (vote) their opinions hoping someone will make our wishes come true.

It's possibly born out of a feeling of disempowerment & disconnection with the club, just like we feel with politicians, etc.

Well put. He is a clubman, and should be remembered as a guy who forged a good career for himself and wound up one of our best forwards. He won us many games off his own boot, and when we played finals this decade he was a key reason. Can I also point out he is the 5th highest goal scorer in our club's long history, and is only 4 goals off overtaking one Garry Lyon. That is a fantastic achievement for someone who worked his way into the team lateish, off the rookie list, and also isnt the biggest bloke going around.

You people should show some respect before turning on your own. Yes his career is close to an end, but that shouldnt discredit all he did for us for the last 10 years! The same thing happened when White, Yze etc retired, and frankly it makes me sick. You lot are f*cking pathetic. Mods should ban the lot of you!

Excellent post, although I prefer to think that ignorance shows out rather than silencing these critics. Robbo, has been a wonderful player for us, I think that he has been one of the best half forward flankers we have produced and has also been the heart and soul of the club over a fairly turbulent period. During that time he has learnt to kick and constantly been played in key position roles to which he is unsuited. In short he made the best of his abilit. Rather than criticise his lack of chasing, perhaps some of his teammates could have supported him better in this regard. Yes, this could be his final year, but you treasure these players who have not quite reached the heights of Barrassi. Flower or Lyons

As much as I've loved watching all our resent retiree's during their respective careers the fact is they got paid a lot of cash and didn't get us a flag. We're the ones paying them by buying memberships and rocking up to games and we're just excited about the next crop taking their place in the hope they can achieve what the others before them didn't.

Don't get me wrong, Robbo has been one of my favorite players but his time has passed and I'm hoping whoever takes his place is even better.
