The Age has published a list of games missed by injury in 2009 for clubs' top 10 players, based on last year's b & f, (AFL ladder position in brackets):

1. Essendon (8th) Melbourne (16th) 36

So Wheatley would have contributed 13 of that 36. Green a few from his injured jaw and so on.

Bit of an odd list though.

10 of Essendon's come from one player (Hille) whilst 14 of ours come from one player (Wonaeamirri).

No offence to Aussie, but I know who the greater loss is.

Wheatley wasn't injured though.

Essendons probably isnt all that accurate as they probably had more injuries last year making there top 10 in the best fairest an inaccurate indicator of there top 10 players. They are definately improving though.

Sydney are always amazing with there lack of injurys must be something in the water up there.

Furthermore, Andrew Welsh adds 11 weeks to the Bombers tally.

That's 21 from 2 players.

Of Freo's 31 - Palmer's 14 accounts for almost half.

I found this table of players' consecutive games.

Bruce on 38, Cale Morton on 22 then Moloney, Davey and Mclean on 14.

    Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded.     THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

    Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was.
