Demonlanders help purchase Liam's debut guernsey...

I might be wrong but I don't think Rudeboy has posted on this thread yet.

He'll be loving this when he hears about it, if he hasn't already.

Add $50 from me.

And me.

You can put me down for $50 as well

What a great Club, and what great supporters we have. Our footy has been pretty shitty of late, but this is an achievement to be proud of. Great job Fork, and everyone else involved. Please bump my earlier contribution up to $50.

PAID 28 JUNE (DN122682)

I'll increase my original $20 up to $100.

Great work Fork.

I was wondering if anyone will be at the Bentleigh Club tonight to watch the Dees v the Lions...

Curious if you will be there Fork or a delegate to start attaining some of the donations.

I would also love to make a contribution and would be happy to make my payment tonight if possible.

Go Dees and thank you Fork - this has been very inspiring

The whole exercise has been significant.

Sorry glory, overseas at the moment, in transit today, will be online tonight answering questions and posting payment info.

In transit Sunday/ Monday also but online in and out. Stay in touch, if certain members want to starting pooling their donations, please proceed.

Gotta go!

I cannot congratulate everyone involved enough, especially fork and sleeve.

Staggering is right, I only wish I could pledge more (maybe I'll chip in a bit extra when it comes to transferring. Significant moment in our history.

This is why sport is the best thing in the world.

I am so proud of everyone at this great club. Well done and thanks so much Fork for getting the ball rolling. No matter what happens on the field - WE ARE WINNERS already.

Hey, you mob blow me away! I keep logging in to see if it's all over, and you just keep on giving. You have totally won me over.

At Yuendumu, the story is getting around, and I reckon you've picked up around about 800 fans or so - that's how many of us there are out here!! I also reckon our future AFL stars might be thinking well of the Demons too.

Can't even begin to thank you enough. Just know that you can be extremely proud of giving a unbelievable gift to Liam's family and community, and one that will just keep on giving. That # 48 guernsey is so much more than it seems - it's pride in the present and hope for the future. Can't buy it. As Japaljarri said, its all so much more than just a game.

What an awesome way to build a partnership.

Hey people what about we raise the total amount so the people at Mt.Theo can use the money for other things. Time to dig a little deeper. This should be our gift to them.

Great Idea. At present the total is $2983 with a total of 3410 to get, we are not that far off.

I will say one thing, this will rely on those that have pledged to come good and ensure they come good, which I have no doubt they will but it does need to be said.

I've made a database of all users from both sites and the amount pledged which I'll forward to fork each time I update it.

Cheers

Sensational result! It says a lot about our optimism and loyalty for the success of our club. Not to mention a great membership tally for 2009.

Top effort Fork. Really appreciate your endeavour and commitment.

PS. I've already pledged on 'Ology.

Demonlanders, I'll say it one more time, this has been a fantastic experience. The union of the past couple of days has been something special and can't thank you enough for getting behind this idea. This is Melbourne, this is it's supporters getting behind the club, it's players and what they together stand for. It's also the beginning of a wonderful relationship with the Mt Theo program (which it must be said is revered throughout the Western Desert for the vital role they play with Warlpiri youth) and the wider Yuendumu community.

Now it's time for our generous donations to flood the Mt Theo coffers, lets purchase this, as Japaljarri has said, "sacred object" and present it to the Yuendumu community on behalf of the club and it's supporters.

Please follow the following easy instructions to donate your generous amounts.

The money pledged for the purchase of Liam Jurrah's debut guernsey will be donated to the Mt Theo program.

There are two ways you can make your donation.

You can do it online

or

You can visit their website and print a form which you can then post or fax.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR DONATION:

Go to the Mt Theo website: www.mttheo.org

Scroll down the page and on the right hand side you will see a blue box saying "Make a donation to our group"

This will take you to a donations page, scroll halway down the page and click on MAKE A ONE OFF DONATION

or

Just below that there is a link which you may click to print a form which you can fill out and post or fax.

When making a donation online there is a section for optional information. In this section please write "for Liam's guernsey". It would be best if you might include your name also, the idea is that a plaque will be made to honour all donors.

Thanks once again Fork - My $25.00 donation has been lodged.

DN122663

All paid up now ($100) via the website

good work guys, keep it coming.

I was just saying the other week that it would be great if the club developed a relationship with the community of Yuendumu. I guess we've just started doing that ourselves.

Will be making a donation on Monday. Got to put some cash into the old credit card account.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
