  1. Hey all, have all the figures together (sorry for the delay!) and here's the story: donations received: $5946.87 !! costs: $3000.00 - final auction price $350 - buyers premium $1066 - airfares (Cecily Granites and Susie Low) $180 - accommodation $450 - tickets for The Long Journey for Liam's family x 6 (wife Shajira, Bruce, Rhea & Alex Hearne-McKinnon, Cecily's grand-daughter Naomi, Liam Campbell) $0 - superb framing, with a plaque acknowledging Demonland and Demonology, courtesy of Joeboy! Total: $5046 We now have $900.87 to buy footy equipment. Happy days! The jumper is now back 'home', ready for unveiling late October when Mt Theo moves into a new office. We are all in excitement mode - the Warlpiri Wizard comes home tomorrow, can't tell you how many young fellas are in the office every day just waiting, waiting... In other news, I was really chuffed to be invited to the Presidents lunch for the Demons final game at the MCG this season, paid for by your club. A day of highlights for me - first game at the MCG, first 'official' game I had watched Liam play with the big boys, sitting between Ron Barrassi and Dipper... does it get any better? Oh yes, the four magnificant goals Liam kicked, those he set up, and his ability to be just about anywhere he was needed. And let me tell you, even Mr Barrassi thought we could have won that game if Liam had been left to fly :-) So now we have a couple of quiet weeks with Liam hanging out at the office, going hunting, talking story with family, and clearly he'll have an ever present entourage of young hopefuls. Heroes are important to everyone I guess, but especially out here. And you mob are probably quite unique in that you understand that, and have given us such a wonderful gift. One that will continue to inspire, for many many years. Cheers Nangal
  2. Great report Whispering Jack, you captured the night perfectly. It was such an honour to be there and to acknowledge publicly just how awesome you mob are. Judee will confirm I was the one that couldn't stop smiling! When Liam's grandmother Cecily and I stood behind Ernie on the stage, she whispered "Nangala, my heart is beating so hard it might fly out of my body!" So we hung on tight to each other and tried to remember everyone we wanted to thank. Luke, I wish you and all who responded to you, could have been there, but it felt like you all joined us in spirit, and remember, it wouldn't have happened without you. I feel proud to call myself a Demons supporter and proud to be on here. And for the homework - at the end of July, I'll post the exact amount we received from you, and how it has been spent, and the plans we have for the additional $ we received. We are yet to frame the guernsey, and Cecily has asked that we include a few photos of the night, so am hoping some of you out there might have some pics for us? I also remember an offer from one of you to do the framing, so will search back on the site to find you smile.gif I think you might be starting to understand how much it means to Yuendumu, the Mt Theo Program, and Liam, to bring this jumper home. I still feel quite overwhelmed by how this all came to happen. This just may be the beginning of a beautiful friendship ...

  4. This is unbelievable!! I just received the statement from our online donor facility. Sit down... from 25 June (when Fork started all this) to 30 June, you mob gave us $4907!! And I know people are still giving. Never, in our 15 years has Mt Theo received such an overwhelming response. You, Dees, have created history, and we love you for it :D This will also well and truly cover the cost of coming down for the presentation. I will be there (I'll be the one with the very big smile) and I am hoping to bring Jangala, the Chairperson of Mt Theo, the senior elder and respected man of Yuendumu. You are ALL my new very best friends! Susie PS Can someone please post this to demonology too?
  5. Hey, you mob blow me away! I keep logging in to see if it's all over, and you just keep on giving. You have totally won me over. At Yuendumu, the story is getting around, and I reckon you've picked up around about 800 fans or so - that's how many of us there are out here!! I also reckon our future AFL stars might be thinking well of the Demons too. Can't even begin to thank you enough. Just know that you can be extremely proud of giving a unbelievable gift to Liam's family and community, and one that will just keep on giving. That # 48 guernsey is so much more than it seems - it's pride in the present and hope for the future. Can't buy it. As Japaljarri said, its all so much more than just a game. What an awesome way to build a partnership.
  6. Mt Theo Susie fronting up. Having watched you legends work your magic today for our Liam, Mt Theo and Yuendumu, I felt absolutely compelled to register and join you! Besides I can't sleep, can't stop smiling, and truth be known, still shedding a tear or two over such overwhelming drive and thoughtfulness. Being Sydney born I have a fondness for the Swans, but you've done your darndest to win me over! God bless fork, and every one of you. You are already winners!
