Demonlanders help purchase Liam's debut guernsey...

It has struck me that if there is one place in the world where Liam's debut guernsey belongs, it's in his home community of Yuendumu where it will stand forever as testament to the effort and energy of Liam and the many people that have contibuted to his debut for the greatest football club in the world, the Melbourne Demons.

The idea is if we can get at least thirty of us put in $20 dollars each we can (hopefully) purchase Liam's guernsey, have it nicely framed up and dontae it to the community as a whole. The donation will be on behalf of Demonlanders. A nice news story for the club and a nice contribution and connection to the community.

Whose in?

Reply to this post letting me know, I'll bid on our behalf and hopefully this'll come off.

I know everyone on here is right behind Liam and is inspired by this young man's effort thus far and also by the outstanding effort the club has made in settling him into his new life down there. His selection and the clubs faith deserves to be acknowledged, so let's make a statement.

It's on $390 at the moment and there is only a day left so we have to move quick! C'mon Demonlanders!

Sure fork. I can throw $20 in.

Will look great in 20 years time up on the wall next to Liam's premiership jumper.

In for $100

Thanks people. I would love to think that everyone would see the real value in this. I know the community would take plenty of pride in having the jumper in their community. To know that it came from a passionate cluster of supporters will send a message that there are people everywhere who support Liam, his family and therefore the community. Of course the money is going to a great cause as well.

I have placed a bid and we're at $410. If you can't afford $20 that's fine, let me know what you can afford, or if you can chip in some more like the champions above, well that's great as well.

Cheers.

I'm in for $20 for sure.

(Would be more but I have to pay for a wedding)

How are you going to collect the money?

Any idea of how much it will cost to frame it?

How are you going to send it to the community?

Great idea BTW, well done.

Maybe some senior Demonlanders can collect @ Bentleigh/Leighoak clubs on the weekends game.

I would ask that people either:

Deposit the money directly into my bank account /or:

Send a cheque/money order to me in the post.

Someone could pick it up for me in Melbourne send it up and I could get it framed in Alice Springs, where I live. We'd get it done up with all the appropriate trimmings: photo, details on Liam and donors; Demonland!

Then with local media in tow we can drive it out and present it to the appropriate persons. I know plenty of people out there and will ensure it is somewhat of an event. Would be great to get someone from the club involved as well.

If anyone has any better ideas in any of the above would love to listen.

I am happy to donate $20 too and I'll deposit into your account if we win it. It's a really nice idea.

I'm in, money is tight though, so just the $20.

If we raise more than we need here, can we put the extra into some training gear?

Great idea mate!!!

Iam definatly in for $20 - $30.

I live 2 doors down from the great Junction oval, so if you need anyone to pick it up or anything iam more than happy to, as iam down at training a bit anyway.

I would be happy to throw in $20.00

In for 20

Great idea! They deserve it the most! Great cause all around

Hi Fork,

Would you be willing to include Demonology in this fundraiser? I'm sure between both sites we can raise the necessary coin to do this.

Let me know in a PM Fork then I'll recreate your original message on Demology

Cheers

Hey Sleeve, I am sure that I am speaking on behalf of all Demonlandets when I say yes we'd love to have those at Demonology on board to help out. As Fuschia said there are a couple of keen bidders after this item and we will need to raise in access of $1000. I would have invited Demonologists as well but actually trying to coordinate this on my iPhone from Thailand (rather difficult)!

Cheers Sleeve. I need an indication from people quickly before I make another bid. My wife and I in for $150.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
