As we are all aware if its one thing we dont lack it would be inside mids, though with the game progressing like it is

can we afford to carry 3 to 4 mids in our team at once? Im talking Moloney, jones, Mclean even Valenti.

Just want peeoples opinions on weather they see a possible three out of them four (jones mclean moloney) In say two years time when were pushing for finals. And if not i sure wouldnt wana be the one making the decision.

I can see all of them potentially still on our list in 2011 and if you're talking about in our best 22 by round 1 2011 I'd expect our side to read.

FB: Rivers, Warnock, Bennell

HB: Frawley, Martin, Garland

C: Blease, Scully, Davey

HF: Green, Watts, Petterd

FF: Jurrah, Butcher, Wonna

Foll: Spencer, Morton, McLean

Int: Grimes, Jones, Meesen, Moloney

Emerg: Bate, Maric, Strauss

Who could we get rid of though out of those 3 Mclean,Moloney and Jones. They have proven worthy. I think Jones can actually be an outside Mid at times though. So maybe we could develop Jones into an outside midfielder because he hasn`t got bad pace and maybe over time it will pay off. Although you got to have pretty good skills to be a outside mid. If you think I`m completely wrong then tell me and explain.

Looks like a pretty well balanced team.

Mouth watering prospects. I keep forgetting about Blease. There's a lot of early draft picks in that team.

Looks pretty good to me. The thing I like is not having a Maric, Jetta, Strauss, Buckley or Cheney in the side but it still looks great - might need a good tagger there, though. Not sure on the 3 inside mids making it but injury/form might sort that out for us.

Like your structure Tall Defence. But Bate ahead of Sylvia?

Yes I can see why a few people would scratch their heads over that one. A lot depends on this year really as far as I'm concerned. I know Bate hasn't set the world on fire of late but I have a gut feeling that the club is going to stick with him, don't know why just a feeling. As of Sylvia I'm still not convinced either way which way the club will go on him whether they'll try to trade him at seasons end or if he'll turn it all around and demand a spot in our team.

So long and short I've probably only listed Bate ahead of Sylvia because I'm pretty confident Bate will still be there, while undecided about Sylvia. Hope he is still there though.

Exactly, once you factor in injury and form there would obviously be a few changes which may see someone like Bartram,Strauss or McNamara in there as a run with player. Otherwise you never know, Moloney or Jones may re-invent themselves into a run with player. Then add in the pace of Davey, Blease, Scully and Morton it starts to look very good for the future doesn't it!

davey to half back, one tall defender to miss out, grimes to the wing, strauss on to the bench and maric swapped for green( retired) or on bench instead of jones. now that side will take us to three flags

Apologies to anyone I've missed. Lets call this the 2012 model?

Hows the skill and speed in that team?

Anyone who thinks we don't need to win 4 or less games...

How about were try to draft a good ruckman to go with this plentiful quota of mids that would help!!!!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
