The premise behind hoopla's post was the paucity of our ruck situation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the CURRENT team recruit Meesen and sign him to a 3 year deal? We wouldn't be debating this topic if Meesen was a half decent ruckman.

No CAC signed him before he left. As you were saying Mo....... :lol:

The issue is the paucity of our existing rucks is a reflection of poor list management. And many of the list management issues in this regard preceed the current administration. Sorry Mo just dealing in the facts.

Regardless what should we have done about the ruck situation Mo in the past 18 months? What changes would you have made?

FWIW, I agree with Jarka about the worthiness of the risk at the time taken on Meesen given the issues raised by him. I am just disappointed in the outcome to date.

So Bailey wasn't part of the administration last season when Meesen was acquired? And you know for a fact that he had no input in the decision?

You'll miss the irony of your first statement.

Bailey was part have been part of the administration for a month but CAC was in charge of list management and recruitment over the past two years. But of course its all Bailey's fault. :rolleyes:

So Mo I'll ask again, "Regardless what should we have done about the ruck situation Mo in the past 18 months? What changes would you have made?". As usual, you'll be coward from the question.

Clearly I hope your optimism is justified.... and I agree that the backline options are beginning to look healthy.

At the end of the day, the balance of our list is such that virtually all of our young talls will have to come through - and stay fit - whereas we will be OK if only half of our young midfielders make it.Over the years , the success rate for 'talls 'has tended to be lower than the success rate for 'smalls/mid-sizers'.

We have more considerably more midfield depth than big man depth. Whether or not that becomes a real problem will depend upon the pattern of injuries over the next few years.

Hoopla -you just have it in for Craig Cameron as he did not draft you.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

    It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
