DEMONS TO SPORT HANKOOK LOGO IN $2.1M SPONSORSHIP DEAL

MELBOURNE has lured a tyre company to keep it off the skids.

The Demons will today announce a co-sponsorship deal with Hankook, believed to be worth about $700,000 a season for three years.

It ends months of uncertainty and eases the pain of being pipped by the Western Bulldogs for heavyweight sponsor Mission Foods.

Melbourne is believed to be in talks with up to four other companies about coming on board as a joint partner.

If Melbourne can command a similar price from another sponsor, it will surpass the total value of the Primus sponsorship deal that ended last year.

Hankook is expected to feature on the front of the Demons guernsey in Round 1.

Depending on the strength of the secondary deal, both sponsors could rotate on front and back of the guernsey on a weekly basis.

Hankook, a Korean firm with a strong foothold in Australia, emerged as a late contender for a role with the Demons.

The tyre giant was last night putting the finishing touches on a three-year deal.

Yze_Magic always a deliverer of good news.

Good to see Schwabby not buckling at the first couple of subpar offers and instead waiting for this deal

Ohhhhh Yeahhhhhhh!!!!!

The confirmation we have been waiting for. Although we are not by any means out of the woods yet, this sponsership really gets the monkey off the back, I couldn't be happier with the way Jimmy has been running things since he took over.

Things are looking good off field. Gives the kids a bit of time to develop into a good team which will then get us out of the woods.

Great news!

We still need another co-sponsor to jump on board and match Hankook. $700K is good but we need to double it to match other club sponsors. Mission Foods are giving the Dogs $1.5 per year.

I am sure will have another on board shortly.

Should we watch the membership numbers rise sharply towards the start of the season?

Will be an interesting next few weeks.

Also,

On another note, how much did everyone want to be 'The One' to announce this on these forums?

Kudos to Yze Magic who beat us all to it! ;)

FANTASTIC NEWS :)

Cant wait to see the logo on the jumper on the footy show tomorrow night, which i presume will happen.

Also great news that its believed that we have 4 others vying for a spot as the other co-sponsor!!!!

Well done to all the team!!!

I am getting sick of McNamee jumping in with his bitter pills and saying i could have done better. Get over it.

GO DEMONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bloody fantastic! I just literally ran down the house waking everyone up to tell them....much to the delights of my parents lol. Maybe all those who bagged Jimmy and Co. can offer a bit of an apology?

Great news for us all. Now let's do the new sponsor proud by beating the M%#@%%n F^&ds Bulldogs.

I don't understand why they didn't wait to announce both co-sponsors.

Surely that's what you would expect where you're going to run with a co-sponsorship situation?

Perhaps they just got tyred of waiting!

Caroline Wilson's report in the Age SPONSOR JOY FOR DEMONS

The Mission food deal was worth $4.1 million, while this Hankook deal is worth $2million. Going to be interesting to see who our other major sponser is.

Good to hear.

Although the club had raised the notion of turning its back on the new Olympic Park stadium in favour of moving the club's entire operation back into the MCG, that push was knocked back by the AFL.

A condition of the $2 million 2009 funding agreement for the club shared by the AFL and the MCC was that Melbourne moved its football operation from the Junction Oval into facilities at the soon-to-be-completed stadium at Jolimont.

Hrm.

Great news! Well done to the new admin team.

Sylvia photo misleading as we don't play with that top in NAB or challenge games. Or do we?

Maybe a training photo?

did a search on them in google images, some interesting ones there!

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
