Was that at Ferny Grove mousey? I'm just interested because I live up the road! I saw an article in the local rag about him a few months ago talking him up as a possible AFL draftee and I must confess my first instinct was to think, "don't get your hopes up". Shows how wrong I generally am!

Yeah mate

ferny Grove Falcons.

Which i am not sure even exists any more last time i looked it was a big pile of dirt. Not sure if the storms were something to do with it

That's the very point I'm making!

Right... so ... you're saying ... because we didn't pick up any recycled players in the draft ... then that means we are tanking ..?

You know, a picture of a monkey for your avatar is quite apt...

Saw very good bios by Quigley (BF) where he not only describes upside but downside (his very personal opinion) of potential draftees - not afraid to speak his mind on some highly rated draftees.

Be warned it is very long but well worth the read

Interesting that I could not find James Strauss on Quigleys list

No joke. Our drafting was obviously directed more to a long term plan rather than a quick fix. There's no obvious attempt to cover deficiencies in the short term so we won't show much next year.

jeebus buddy your a negative prat aren't you

A much better view than the ridiculous and pathetic quip, "We've started tanking already!"

Dean is not stuffing around when he wants us to play run and carry football

This kid is a state champion cross country runner

Would be a nightmare to play on you'd just be yapping at his heels all day long

I love the fact he is singled out for his dedication also - the type of kid that might flourish now given a chance

This pick could end up being an absolute beauty I reckon

Been following Bailey,s old club Mt Gravatt and i can assure you this kid can play

Could be the SMOKEY in the whole draft

Obviously Spirit of the Demon bases his analysis on a player he knows NIL about

IMO a lump of coal that could turn into a diamond

that's what I like to hear

haven't heard a bad word about this kid and the fact he is considered absolutely top shelf in terms of fitness has me excited

like it or not, that's where the game is headed and Bailey knows it

Sometimes a picture can tell a thousand words, these photos look impressive from a demon fan point of view. Thanks for the pics M2W. He can leap and take a mark, and Bail looks to be very fit (ie an endurance type player). But thats about it. Nevertheless hopefully he is a 'real find' for the club.

I think it's more that you can make a picture tell a thousand words.

He may have dropped that mark, and I can't figure what's impressive in that second photo.

Will be interested to watch this one

I agree, in that people are drawing an extremely long bow if they think that photos give away anything about his footballing ability. He looks fit, and thats about all you can say. You don't need to take the negative side though either 45. God you really are a Spurs fan.

I think the pics are good. It illustrates that the boy has decent athleticism and is able to get off the ground and the second photo shows his physique. That is it.

I for one get jack of anyone who has a go at people who provide training reports and post pictures . I appreciate the reports and shots so please ignore the negative individuals and keep posting them. Thanks m2w.

It clearly shows his face, thats all. Good for a profile photo in a record or something.

You're reading WAYYYYYY too much into it.

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
