l can't believe Hawthorn are able to get him! what about there salary cap?Crawford must be going because they need to fit $600k into there already expanding SC, and l wonder here he fits into there forward line?

On Sydney radio tonight it was stated that the Hawks have pulled out because O'Keefe is just too pricey, but online it is said that O'Keefe liked Clarkson when he met him up here yesterday, and could be willing to take a pay cut to go to Hawthorn. So if someone can make heads or tails of that then congrats!!!

Hate to use that awful phrase but it looks " a lock" that O'Keefe wil go to the Hawks. The only question now is will Green go to Sydney as part of the deal with us getting pick 16 from hawks and maybe Taylor to ease their cap pressure.

pick 16 and taylor for Greene!!!!

yes yes yes..........

thats a super deal for us

picks 1 - 16 - 17 - 19 - Taylor

[censored] jamar for another pick and before you know it you have 6 picks in the top 40 and Taylor (who played 21 games for hawthorn this year)

deal!

Jamar wont get a pick below 40, he is worthless in the trade market. The other team would just be giving us a pick for nothing effectively

and its Green, with no e

jamar for 26 would be the biggest steal in AFL history

there are 6 players on our list that i think other clubs would be willing to hand over pick 26 or higher for (brock, green, garland, morton, rivers, buckley)

Rivers and Buckley..... I dont think so. Garland might. But he is more potential to us than trading for pick 26 for example. I think Garland could be very good for us and I dont think the rest of the market realises that.

Meesen got pick 37 so a third round pick is about what you could expect for Jamar.

Unless we have a better replacement, I cringe to think we could have our rucking in the hands of PJ and *gulp* Meesen.

Jake Niall (I think) reported in the Age today that we had considered offering Fremantle pick 19 for Warnock.

I don't like the sound of that. I thought Stynes had said we weren't trading 1, 17 or 19. Unless we pick up another pick before 19, I don't want to see us trade it.

Edit: It's in here: http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/hawk...3145445615.html

"Melbourne, which retains a keen interest in Warnock, is understood to be prepared to trade pick 19 for the ruckman, whose brother plays at the Demons. The Dockers ruckman, however, is not believed to be keen on moving to the Demons"

WTF?!!!

Not "keen" on moving to the demons? Why hasn't Matty mentioned something? What, did they have an arguement over a train set or something when they were little?

Seriously though, I'd rather stick with PJ, Spencer, even Jamar and maybe look at someone else later on in the draft, or someone in next year's draft than have to give up pick 19 for him.

It makes sense to use pick 19 on more of a known quantity, particularly when that known quantity is an enormous ruckman with his first few years under his belt... but they'd better throw in a later pick with it...

I'm sure Stynes would understand and have faith in the boys at the draft. They have repeatedly said their intention is to obtain more picks or better their picks.

IMO if we scored pick 16 from Hawks in the 3-way deal with Swans we would all "be over the moon". But Roos has repeatedly said he wants a 1st round draft pick (+player). So this would prevent a 3-way deal IMO. If it did go ahead however as suggested - as reported on ten last night - I wouldnt mind then giving pick 19 to Freo for Warnock. I just hope the O'Keefe deal gets through first before the Freo & Blues settle on Warnock in order for the Dees to approach Freo.

Hypothetically that would leave 1,16,17,35,51,67. Which is an improvement on what we started with, plus getting Warnock.

The second option is pick 29 from Collingwood. Which would leave 1,17,19,29,35,51,67. One of pick 35 or 51 could be used as a sweetener in the O'Keefe deal.

Leaving picks 1,17,19,29 as the 1st four picks - an improvement on the first four picks we have at present. Personally I don't like this option.

Fingers crossed the first option goes ahead. I'm sure CC, DB & Co. will make the right decisions in the best interests of the club.

Hopefully Prismall goes through to the PSD.

On SEN just then........

Neil balme reckons melb should offer freo pick 19 or something better than carlton can - and then go speak to warnock and say son your coming to us either today or in the PSD so lets do your club a better deal and allow us to get another player in the PSD, tell him unfortunately the suystem isnt designed to allow players to chose there club so lets get on with it.

he went on to say : i would tell him, son your coming to us we have pick 1 in the PSD so lets do a deal and get another player in the PSD for our team - basically harden up, face the facts and lets play some footy.............. with your brother too!!!

i mean really, who does warnock think he is???

yeah, that'd be fantastic. No bull$h!t, just telling him how it is and being forceful about it.

Problem is, its probably very hard to speak to Robbie Warnock himself, you'd have to do everything through his bloody manager, so none of this sentiment would get through

someones gotta get some balls and just tell him that we have agreed a deal with freo (pick 19) and see you at training on Monday!!!!

And wouldn't it be in Warnock's best interest to start pre-season training with his 2009 club in October rather than waiting around until the start of December to see whether it's Carlton or Melbourne?

brian waldron has just said the same as what balme has said!!

deal with freo

Maybe we really don't think he's worth what he's asking??

Good point Shaft.

There are two issues:

1. Providing a suitable pick to Freo above pick 24.

2. And more importantly getting Warnock to agree to terms with MFC.

Are MFC prepared to pay $400k for 4 years? Will Warnock change his mind and moderate his demands?

If the Freo/Warnock deal ends in stalemate, Warnock will go to the PSD and to the Club that is most prepared to pay $400k for 4years. And barring any interest from Rcihmond and Melbourne, Warnock is destined to go to Carlton for free (at Freo's loss).

Posted

Well obviously we do, otherwise we would have pulled out of discussions, as Richmond did. There is no benefit to us in assisting Freo to get a better deal from Carlton, by feigning interest in him.

Holy crap!

If that's what he's asking, then no effing way. That would make the morale of the entire club drop even lower. The guy doesn't even want to be there and he'd be on more that kids who show more promise.

Indeed. Would mfc be prepared to pay that?
