Davey is out of contract, im positive

I beleive so.. yes he is..

Ive heard alot more about this today, were extremely close apparently..

Davey and Warnock bros would be an awesome start to 09..

The latest is that we may offer pick 19..

Id love to swap him 4 Bartram, Bell, with a later pick.. even Bruce on his own would be ok with me..

Essendon rate him VERY highly..

There's still some possibility. Only 3 ruckmen on their list

No, there is NO possibility mate..

Its 3 clubs only, Warnock is leaving 4 game time, simple..

If we get him, I wonder what'll happen 2 Jamar.. maybe traded the talk atm..

Meeson, Johnson, Warnock and Possibily a young Ruck in draft..

Meesen is [censored]

It'll be warnock and PJ..and hopefully spencer keeps developing, he was surprise packet- rookie, may be elevated

hehe why havent we got rid of meesen yet?

i wonder what adelaide got for him in the draft with i think pick 37? or something

onto alwyn...great handy little player

would love to have him but wouldnt be too keen on giving up a top 20 draft pick

also, im not saying by any means that i dont want him

BUT...do u think we could have aussie, maric, davey and davey in the one team??

i suppose they are all pretty prone to injury to maybe we are accounting for that

but just imagine...one davey running out of defense, passing a swooping handball to aussie who kicks a pin point accurate pass to watts who is pushed in the back (but the umpire didnt see it) and brings down all of the pack with him as maric picks up the ball, handballs to davey no. 2 who sidesteps round an oponent and snaps for goal of the year...

meanwhile robbie warnock is coming down to hi 5 the players

can only imagine...

yencks mate....first of all..if we had two daveys- stick them on HF flanks. ..no good in the backline.

second of all- aussie would kick the goal and give a frog leap celebration, alwyn and aaron would join in. and the rest of the team would stream around them (including R warnock) as we win round 1 and kick off 09 in style

Im wondering if Alwyn should possibly suit up for the Dees if that might end Valenti's short career with us. Does that put him ( V) on the trade block ?

Harsh assesment..

He's not [censored] :)

He's getting alot better, is a graet athlete, and was always long term option..

1 more year, then we'll asses, lets hope he uses it though!!

He wont be de-listed.. no chance!

If the Demons can land Warnock and Alwyn Davey! That would be sick! Bring on 09! These two players would have been drafted by Melbourne in their respective drafts. But were beaten to the punch by Freo and Essendon which I thought was disappointiing at the time. Melbourne should have had Alwyn in the rookie draft the season b4 when he did pre-season with us. And Warnock just should have been gobbled up with an earlier pick. Let's see if we can get Ryan Murphy over aswell.

How long is long term option?..I wouldn't say he got alot better this year. In fact Meesen is treading water. But he will be assessed next year, if he doesn't pull through he'll then be on thin ice.

I strongly suggest you not refer to MFC players in that regard in the future. Thanks.

Agree.

But he is very very ordinary. Its says alot when a rookie ruckman usurps you for the No 1 ruck role in a VFL side. He should feel lucky Spencer got glandular.

Given his time at Adelaide and his year there should grave concerns for the rest of his contract (2 years).

I hope he improves next year and dramatically or otherwise its money down the drain.

I would question if Essendon would get rid of both Davey and Lovett in the same year. They are already not the quickest team in the league and by trading both of these boys, they would become the slowest in the league.

Is there anymore out there about lovett being traded?

Alwyn Davey says no to Demons

"ESSENDON has rebuffed interest from Melbourne in Alwyn Davey and will re-sign the youngster on a two-year deal next week.

Davey, who is already training after a knee reconstruction early this year, has agreed to terms on a new deal.

Davey's management company Stride Sports agreed to terms with Essendon in recent days."

Looks like this trade has got away too. With Prismall doing hsi knee and likely to stay at Geelong, Warnock nominating Carlton, and Alwyn signing on with Essendon, there is noone left we should bother with. Gotta love trade period  Whole lot of build up for [censored] all results. Biggest anti-climax of the year.

Seems saying No to us is flavour of the month, year...... !!!

Oh well..and life goes on....

Most posters forget this.

For MFC, I am expecting it could be a real anti climax with little avenue to really trade.

This was always far more a hyped up shadow rather than anything substantial, but was an intersting possibility ( if very slight)

I think the only trade will be involved in will be for Colin Sylvia ...

Very few of our players have a lot of currency and he is one of those guys that promises a lot but has never taken that next step.

He's a finishing piece that you add to a Hawthorn or the like and he'll excel.

A lot of teams would be aware he's underperformed so his currency is low, but also that a change of scenery might do the trick.

And he's no good to us in his or our current state.

My prediction: Sylvia for a 2nd round pick, or maybe Brent Reilly. (Adelaide overestimate their list.)

We'll be involved in precious little else

Great. So not only do we miss out on talent, we also lose one of the rare talented players that we actually have on the list for a speculative pick in the 30's.

Keep Sylvia. He had his most consistent year, and he's finally fit and ready for that all important pre season.

Hey, i don't necessarily want this to happen, but I think it WILL, just from looking at the situation.

Taking sentiment out of the equation...

do really think he's going to come on much more? I think he's about reached his limit for improvement.

I hope i get proved wrong on both counts cos i like the kid

Just like TJ had class.

Sylvia could be a capable footballer for us. However he will never reach the heights we hoped for when we got in at Pick 3 in 2003.

I am not sure what clear upside we get from trading Sylvia who has a patchy health record and little achievement to date on the field.

A 2nd round pick at best means pick 20, at worst means pick 36. I would suggest it would be in the bottom half of the draw. I am not confident what surety you think you will get at that stage of the draft that justifies trading Sylvia. And I cant see you would bother with it.
