I'm not making enough cash at the moment to donate a whole lot, but I found $20 while cleaning my car today that's going straight to the club. It's a start I spose.

Love ur work!!! ;)

This is just so amazing! I love this club!

Strange that anyone would work at that level where he could be out the door tomorrow with nothing !! Whether its true or not..I personally find it hard to swallow that there was no 'handshake" fee attached

that is actually how i read it as well.

i thought i heard that because he was an unproven CEO in terms of footy etc (dont kid yourself, aus open ran for 2 weeks of the year), and because of how we were burnt with the pay out of harris, that the board did not put him on a contract. ie you are working for this much per week etc for no fixed term.

i could be wrong, but thats how i read it.

Wholly siht!

Wow.

That's brilliant, that's this years $2million debt wiped off already!

That will be front page news tomorrow.

Nope Pies being so "tough" on there star players is front page I would think.

How good is that! We would all ove to be in a position to be able to donate that kind of cash. They are great men!

"Legends including Ron Barassi, Hassa Mann, Robbie Flower, Greg Wells, David Neitz, David Schwarz, Peter Moore, Todd Viney and Noel McMahen were present at the function in Kensington."

Todd Viney was there? Even better news.... :)

Great result by the club!

Already an extra 20,000 today.

Yes but foxtel matched every dollar over 100k. So you double what was donated.

They match every dollar up to $100,000, not over.

Thanks Gouga, not only was that wrong, but it also didn't make mathematical sense.

Interesting how that figure could be changed so much

No Foxtel matched the first $100k raised. Not Every Dollar raised over, although that would have been nice.

If i could shake the hand of ever man and woman who donated money to the club I would, Sincere thanks from me to all who donated.

What a Day, we raise 2 mil, the Filth are all over the place suspending players and pretty much trading Didak, could there be a better day other than winning a flag?

I don't think so!

I think the players banner should have a thank you to those people.

It's nice to wake up and read that such a sizeable chunk of the club's debt has been wiped in one swoop. $2,051,000 in one night! Thanks to everyone present for their generosity. Well done.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
