He shows signs, but his application just does not seem to be there!

He still would have some trade value, a top 20 Pick, or a decent player ie: Prismall, Boyle, Rosa, Warnock would be more than enough for me to send him packing, id take even less right now!

Has the talent, but the only way I seem him achieving it is at another club!

I can see it now...

Melbourne trade Sylvia to the Crows for pick 30....

Sylvia and Scott Thompson tie for the 2009 Brownlow medal, as Adelaide rocket into the Grand Final.

Keep him!

Get off his back. He is a forward, Bailey has identified this. You can't possibly go on todays game, surely. The delivery into the forward line was virtually non-existent and mostly woeful. Except the last quarter. Newton and Sylvia had very limited opportunities. Of which Newton had more and made a meal of a few opportunistic grabs. He is what? 23 years of age. Bailey will develop him.

Every time someone mentions Scott Thompson, I clench my fists in anger. He was one that got away too easily........

I know, but he was always going home, NO ONE was gonna stop him!

Sylvia cannot play his career as a perm forward! he was a top 3 draft, drafteed to be a midfielder!!

He is a traget there right now, but not forever! thats not gonna cut it!

Its so frustraing, I love the guy, sooo much ability, Just seems lazy, have heard he is very lazy with the off ball stuff, I just really hope he can string it together, but its a lose lose if we keep him next year, and he fails again, because he will then have ZERO trade value, thats why its a tough decision, that needs to be made!

Im 50/50 on the issue!

Like almost anyone, if we can get a decent deal, trade him.

I doubt we'll be offered what we think he's worth, though, given his injury history and career output so far.

Forget about how he was ranked by CC, based on his career in the juniors.

If Sylvia can cement his spot in our 22 as we become a better side, that'll be great.

Talk about putting the cart before the horse...

This bloke has had more lives than a reincarnated cat ffs. He ought to be seizing the moment and playing his little sox off..instead..yet another lack lustre performance.

Sorry ..had a gutful of this pretender.. he shows a few teasing glimpses of his real talent and then puts it away for later.. as if !!

Let some other poor bastard of a team try to eek out a week in week out effort.. time to go ......Hi Ho Sylvia !!

Not being ON is his default position !!! <_<

Every player is up for trade as long as the right deal can be struck. What is Col worth? IMO he is better of on our list than getting a second round pick. I thought yesterday he was starved of the footy early but push up onto the wing and got a bit of the footy. I haven't seen the stats but he would of had 10+ in the last half.

He still hasn't done a full pre-season and had an injury free year hopefully he can have a full preperation for next season.

Channel 7 showed footage of him having heaps of work done to his groins during the 1st or 2nd quarter and he was noticeably whincing. He's obviously nowhere near 100%.

Should we have kept him that extra year and he would have walked through the PSD and MFC got nothing?

Getting very thin on this .. this bloke or that bloke is obviously not 100% .. so what..they signup.. they cross the line..they take the money..If they are NOT up to it..dont play..If you play youre up for scrutiny.

Most of Col problems are nothig about whats between his hips..its whats between his ears !! Get rid of him now while he still has currency !!

Give sylvia time. He has shown in some games he can kick great goals. Sure he didnt play well yesterday but he hasnt had a full pre season. Let him have 2008-2009 to get his skills up to afl level. I think he will more than make it if injuries are kept free...although im not hopeful of his OP being under control. Personally i dont think Sylvia, Moloney or Rivers will ever be good players for this very sad reason cause they all have huge potentual.

agree 100%.. So I see no point in throwing good money or match time after bad !! Some people will get all upset and thingy...and continue their head in the sand pose.

This is not a good chums collective..its supposed to be a top level professional football club. In the corporate and domestic worlds you can accomodate handicaps and inadequacies. There is unfortunately no room at all to do this in a sporting team attempting to be competitive. Bit like driving with your brakes on otherwise.

But hey..lets give Col anothr 2-3 years to offer up rubbish with occasional flashes of competitiveness.

He's hot and cold alright. I think yesterday he was working quite hard...just a had a dirty day.

If someone approached us with a juicy deal then I'd be interested, otherwise give him another year to achieve consistency.

Look for improved performance when we have a Saturday game!

I'd take a second round pick for Sylvia.

We'd be lucky to get a 2nd round pick for him at present.

Isn't it amazing that after he kicked 4 in the Brisbane game, everyone wanted to keep him, there was no talk of trading, now after a quiet game against the Dogs, trade posts with Col Sylvia's name crop up again.......

Give sylvia his time, he still hasn't had a full preseason. Once his injuries are gone, rate him. iF I was the coaching staff, i reckon we should take care of whatever injuries he has and keep him on ice til next years pre season. Theres really no point for him to play, except for experience, considering this year is shot.

All the more reason that he will remain at MFC. Putting his 2003 draft position aside. Its not relevant now. At best Sylvia could be a solid player for us who could be a hard match up given his strong ability overheard. Given where his currency is and the fact he is tarnished because of his injury disposition, we would better off seeing what we can get out of him.

Its more the nature of some of the posters on this site than anything else.

If we win two in a row, there will be posts about what great depth we have. Nah make that one in a row! :D

I've still got my clipboard waiting to rate Luke Molan.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
