MELBOURNE DEMONS FOREVER!!!

Being called the Demons was actually one of the reasons WHY I become a Melbourne supporter in the first place way back when I was in Grade Prep (circa 1987?).

I Totally Agree. The Big Red Demon is what we need!!

And there is the precedent with Manchester United, the most popular EPL club in China...being the "red devils" doesn't seem to have done them much harm ;)

Was thinking the same thing... Man U are the red devils and they were the most popular club in China well before they picked up the Chinese player too.

Oaklad Raiders are pirates, Tampa Bay Buccaneers are pirates... St Pauli FC in the German 1st division are a skull and cross bones...

What I find intersting is that our moniker would suit more the people associated with the Pies, the so called ferals. The Demon is so far removed from our supposed supporter base when you think about it. But in this day and age there is nothing wrong with it we are just way to snesitivate to any kind of possible offence.

I love the Demons and it should stay. It is about how you continue to attract supporters, winning is the best way...

Except for the top pic the others look as camp as a row of tents, could someone come up with a demon pic that could be used?

Todays graphical styles are somewhat removed..lol Ought to be interesting to see its ( Demon) reintroduction.

this is a tough one, i like the concept of just being Melbourne FC and it worked for north to have melbourne in their name with the whole gold coast issue, so it may be useful for us too? but when i'm at or watching the game i still shout GO Dees! so i dont know, and i like the logo. but i think melbournefc is the way to go, and i'll probably still shout GO DEES! just to confuse myself!!!

It seems what has led us to this debate, is Paul Gardener taking away the Demon in the first place. Now Jimmy is returning the Demon - as he should - but what's happened is a lack of identity or uncertainty ....which has now led to this.

I'm sure none of the other clubs are debating on doing away of their mascot, ie Hawks, Dogs, Cats, Pies. etc

Name - Melbourne Football Club

Colours - RED and BLUE

Mascot - DEMON

NO COMPROMISE

Bang.

No silver or white in the alternate strip. It's red and blue, those are our colours, that's how it has to be.

I'm actually a bit surprised that keeping the current logo is in front - to me its a complete sell out lacking any soul whatsoever.

Bring back the Demon.

Bring back the damn Demon. I originally liked the whole, "Melbournefc" concept, but I've come to hate it. We're the Demons of Melbourne, not the football club of Melbourne.

This logo. Melbourne Demons Football Club.

That will just about do. With a blue rather than white background perhaps ? White lettering. How are your Paintbrush skills Grimesy ?

We are Melbourne first, Demons second & [censored]-all third.

The Melbourne Fire idea though, would be great for a new franchise. I wonder if that was considered when the Storm & Victory were being named. Helluva lot better than the insipidly named South Dragons.

Why are we trying to hop in bed with china? In reality we will get nothing out of there, and at the moment the way china is stuffing up the olympics.

The name china is now assosiated with smog, brute force and cencoring the media. At the moment china tells the ioc to bend over and the ioc says yes please.

THIS ISNT A COUNTRY TO BE ASSOSIATED WITH.

DEMONS for me, less change and more passion.

The club should get to work on a new demon immediately, and the design must be pure evil! I want a demon that will inspire fear. That was Checker's intent when he came up with it. I can't remember a demon logo ever looking in the least bit scary.

It's a new era, a fresh beginning on and off field. If Jimmy can put the evil back in the demon and Bails can get can make us a feared unit on field, supporters will come

I think the reason if steering away from an evil demon design as our logo is kids!

You want kids to be interested in our logo and our name, not scared hahah

I like a cartoon demon that we had a long time ago i think in the ninetys it might of been... i remember as a kid back then thats what attracted me to the club the logo haha

Kids I know love that stuff, walk into any toy store and there's no shortage of "scary" stuff. A scary Demon is more appealing to kids than a blue whatever the hell that is, but Carltank isn't short of supporters.

the name has not officially been melbourne demons for a LONG time

Were we ever 'officially' the melbourne demons?

Haven't they always been 'The Melbourne Football Club', nicknamed 'The Demons' (after a set of earlier nicknames) ?

Mixing name and moniker together is a pathetic marketing ploy of new franchises without history.

Appending FC to a football club makes us a soccer club lookalike. We are not ManchesterFC or MelbourneFC soccer club.

Send the non-demons demons the way of the grey away jumper.

And while we are there - return www.demons.com.au to active use. Fantastic website name, pity about the crap setup.

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
