Be there or be extracted to the fooklands.

I'll be there too. Planning to absolutely overdose on football whilst down from Brisvegas. Essendon v Hawthorn at the Dome Saturday night, two games at Sandy on Sunday and the big one on Monday. Giddy-up.

I should get down there.

A chance to see our current VFL affiliation playing against our 2009 VFL affiliation.

Very keen to see if Newton is fit, and named in the Zeb's 2nd's squad or not.

If Newton plays in the Sandy 2nd's i swear i will hand in my membership and never forgive Bailey.

I am sick of the treatment of Newton by our club.

I'm sure if he's playing 2nds its only to 'ease him back in', so to speak, for a half or 3/4's. Bate came back from his hamstring injury initially thru the reserves also.

I just quickly checked up on it, and correct me if i'm wrong, but Newton hasn't played a match of football, thru injury and/or suspension and the break for the All-Stars match, since the Zeb's played Box Hill on April 20th. 6 weeks?

It would be thru no fault of Bailey's that Newton, if fit, is not playing for Sandy 1st's - I'd imagine Sandy won't want to go into a match 'carrying' a player who is returning from an injury break. VFL Premiership points would be far more important to SFC than easing MFC youngsters back from injury.

Hopefully something the club can have more say in with the upcoming Casey VFL-affiliation in '09.

No Newton... the mystery continues.

I've heard he has an arm and knee-related hypothalmus and continues to suffer a pectoris legumen confusion.

i see jace bode hasn't been even named on the bench?

looks like he is playing for us then

if I was a betting man, I'd be betting you wouldnt stay true to your word, and I'm amazed you didnt have a dig at Nick Sauntner in this post as you do every other. It has nothing to do with Dean Bailey, you imbecile.

Ricky Petterd makes his return through the Zebra reserves this week & good luck to him - he deserves a break!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
