Little Champion!!!

Deserved nomination.

Has been a true workhorse. His hard running and defensive pressure has been encouraging as well as his forward displays.

Quickly becoming a favorite.

Cale Morton will be our next nominated player and I hope sooner rather than later.

Our under 23 brigade are starting to show great signs.

Recognition for the most inspiring expressions of pure joy on the footy field. His passion is contagious and so much fun to watch.

Well Done Aussie

Well done Aussie!!!!

Especially considering he was only put on our rookie list at the start of this year. More nominees, especially early in the season are high draft picks, or guys who have been on a list for a couple of years.

Cale to get nominated soonish as well hopefully

Brilliant, great rewards, good things come in small packages..

Will be sad that he might only have 5 more games before going back on the rookie list though...

I'd like to see Yze accept that his time might be at an end. Having said that, Yze doesn't strike me as the most selfless individual, so perhaps it will come from somebody else. Would be a champion gesture from Ooze though, who on the balance has been a champion for this club.

That's assuming that Grimes can get his body right and be back then, which i have doubts over

Well done mate!! Keep up the good work. Stay off that turtle meat when you go home this week!!

Im not sure retirements qualify for rookie elevation...

They do, not just an elevation either.

We will be down one spot on our senior list. He can be officialy promoted if a retirement happens.

Will Grimes be back this year though? Because if not it doesn't matter.

No, I believe unless its retirement from injury, it doesn't count with regards to rookies.

Yze isn't injured.

Yze isn't injured.

I'm sure if that's the issue and Yze was willing to retire (doubtful), they could make up some sort of injury. There would be a way of getting around it. And it's unlikely other clubs would give a stuff as the Dees wont be playing finals.

Demon Rising star nominees

Austin Wonemarri

Matthew Bate

Nathan Jones

Brock Mclean

Aaron Davey

Jared Rivers

Michael Newton

Colin Sylvia

Clint Bartram

Who am I missing?

Nathan Jones....... he got 2 nominations :)

Ricky Petterd and if you want to count him. Brent Moloney.

Juice never got one.

Chris Connolly in one of today's papers suggested Grimes will be playing before Neitz.

It was nice of Channel 10 to have no mention or story of Aussie winning this weeks rising star this week, like they did for Cyril Rioli last week.

Does Quarters have a say in what stories get covered in the sports section?

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
