  1. The incentive plan has been around for years so I am surprised you raise it as an issue now. Personally the incentive in winning for me and hopefully the players is a no brainer so I leave it alone and prefer to buy raffle tickets druing the year, merchandise and donate to things such as the Newton "pay to play" (150 club fund).
  2. You have just strtuck on part of reason for the angst of supporters who were sold on our domination at the 'G' over the last two years. On the positive side we are gauranteed a return on the interstate games which would have drawn piddling crowds otherwise. An aside to this is would interstate teams have put up with a draw that saw them with one game at their home ground in half a season? We really are whipping boys aren't we?
  3. I wouldn't withold my membership $. I would love to burn down the Junction Oval facilities although we should wait till the new ones are ready. Think I will put my house on a relocation to Mt Buller because that will be where I go if they do appoint him.
  4. Especially at those odds. I just cannot reconcile how he would coach Melbourne and I think it is the media beating it up becasue he played for us and ex-Melbourne media ppl like Healy and Gaz like him.
  5. If Carlton beat Freemantle today there is a good chance Chris Connolly will be unemployed by this time next week so I am adding my name to the NO to Chris Connolly movement. I don't need to see him go through a selection process to know he would not be a good fit with the list we now have. He must be scarred after the pathetic effort of his highly rated list this year.
  6. We can't die wondering if he should have been played earlier? But based on his effort last night he was cherry ripe to debut and I hope to God he is now given every opportunity so we can ease the pressure on the Skipper and get another couple of years out of him.
  7. Quite right and it not something you can adapt to like the hands in the back.
  8. I am compelled to vote (yes obviously) only because it just a ridiculous question and thread with no relevance to anything. If I were a mod I would lock it.
  9. 1. I would be rapt for him. But I would puke my guts out if it was Essendon. 2. I would think it was an even year and save my judgement for '09 and beyond but realistically by then the list would be substantially changed.
  10. No, this happens every time in these circumstances. Doesn't matter which club it is. 30 odd people working at the club? >30 players and then all their friends/relatives. None of this information (so far) would be considered confidential.
  11. He likes to go the presidents of footy clubs doesn't he? Still, it made me feel all warm and fuzzy when he attacked ours and thereby all but ruled himself out for a job at MFC
  12. I must have heard 100 interpretations and opinions on todays events and many of them, like yours, lack balance. Paul Gardner and the board of the MFC are charged with acting in the interests of the MFC not Neale Daniher (that is his managers job). There is no doubt ND's record as cheer leader, spruiker and loyal servant would have been taken into account in any job review or potential contract renewal but at the end of the day he is first and foremost the coach, charged with winning football matches or at the minimum turning out competitive teams. Paul Gardner has done nothing extraordinary in this process that many members would have demanded (as a minimum) and all he said was that performances like last Fridays are not acceptable and there would be a review from now (following up on his statement earlier this year that it would occur when the season is over). Like most of us he didn't expect it to be over by round 12 so this is where the review begins, why wait? The position was always going to be up for review in any case and ND could have guttsed the season out and reapplied. He choose not to and I commend him for that because I don't think he could get any more out of the players and there was no point tarnishing his reputation with players who talk the talk but don't do the other bit. If you want to lay blame anywhere then I would point the finger at the players and the consequences for some of them are still to be realised. Injuries aside the performances this year have still been well below par.
  13. So he has the job already then. What if he is a dud assitant. We will need a clause in there
  14. Who on SEN mentioned it? Jeez, I hope ND doesn't leave him out to spite us
  15. I usually always end up on the wrong end of these things so to gaurantee Juice has a good first game I'll pledge $30 if he debuts and $10 for each goal + another $50 if he gats a bag of 5. Seriously though, no pressure Juice, it's just the fact that we have had little to get exited about and this is one way to get the heart pumping.
  16. Very succinctly put. Anyone remember the Walls/Northey coaching swap. Didn't make a difference at either Brisbane or Richmond. Connolly is outwardly far too much like Neale for my liking. Weren't both hired by Cameron Schwab?
  17. Well you have correctly identified that there is a core of players that supporters are not happy with! No one could realistically expect us to win the premiership every year or even be contender every year (pity those that do) but the frustration is valid and it is IMO that, the coaching staff and core of senior players have failed to influence the manner in which the team so spasmodically deviates between brilliant and diabolical over a given number of quarters, weeks, months and years. This frustration is extrapolated into crticisims of individuals. You really shouldn't be so precious about things BB. Not every post and poster here is about negativity. We are merely reinforcing our posititvity that things can and should be better. I really am starting to think you are related to one of the players (but probably not Brock)?
  18. Mate, I know this quote has been picked up in other threads and at 'ology but we do have a good number of fickle supporters and the comment is therefore valid. Unfortunately it does reflect on all of us but I personally have no problems with the comment at all because the people I work/socialise with know my commitment to following Melbourne and don't have a go at me at all. I just wish more of our supporters were more committed then there would be a greater sense from the Pres. that the criticisms are not just carping good times fans.
  19. Contrast that behavoir with that of a young girl attending a Melbourne public secondary school today out of uniform in Melbourne jumper. Ouch! What could she teach some about pride in the jumper?
  20. I was a bit sceptical about this theory reading it earlier but after finding out Danners was there and considering ND's coaching future really now depends on who comes next rather than the players who have let him down time and time again, I think it is possible Juice will play next week.
  21. Phsycologically? I doubt it, pretty evident IMO that we were the ones collectively shot between the eyes. I don't think Wheels would have made much difference given the ball was coming down with zero pressure.
  22. Well he is an on-baller! BTW he played all those positions ineffectively and drop punts at goal from the boundary line, deep in the pocket on your wrong side are low percentage. Even Richo would have known to go the Banana for that one.
  23. Just to bring you up to speed....even the coach is upset!
