PREGAME: Rd 15 vs Geelong
Deakin Uni (read Geelong FC) invested/received funding of $8m+ to upgrade their footy oval to exact MCC dimensions and orientation (as well as other sporting facility upgrades). Geelong trains there for finals and when they can't use KP. You may think that's great for Deakin Uni Football teams, but there aren't any in Geelong (only Burwood and Warrnambool). It's just for the cats.

TRAINING: Saturday 17th June 2023
That may be the case JM but I have total faith in the AFL system. I'm sure in next year's fixture, we will get the Sunday game following the bye and Collingwood will be heading down the highway to Kardinia Park for the Thursday night game against Geelong. The Pies won't have any issue with it either. Even if the seating capacity is still at 21,000, they won't have a problem with their 200-seat allocation.

Rich and Gunston are listed as 'Managed' tonight with the release of the teams. FFS if they have dropped themselves, they're omitted. Is this to make them feel better about it or is it as Buck suggests above - a six week 'management' program?- Targets 2023
FFS another McGuire! The day started so well too- Targets 2023

Schache had a great game last week playing forward and ruck (taking over from Bell) and kicking 4 goals. It was a good enough game to put his name in front of the match committee for tomorrow's game. Today he had a stinker. It shows the gulf between his best and non-competitive worst.- AFL Under 18 Championships 2023
Our NGA prospect Orlando Turner is an emergency for the Allies. Hopefully he gets a gig in one of the games.- TRAINING: Tuesday 6th June, 2023.
I had an infected blister on my foot decades ago from bushwalking. It wasn't pleasant but fortunately occurred with only one morning to walk out. I certainly couldn't wear a shoe or sock and there wasn't much weight bearing. It felt like it had gone into the bone. I suspect Clarry has received the Rolls Royce of medical treatment though and wasn't wandering around in the middle of nowhere in Tassie.- Next Generation Academy
I posted this elsewhere but should have been here. Melbourne's NGA prospects. Haven't heard of any of them and no mention of Riak Andrew which is strange: MELBOURNE Luke Morrell Alonzo Rockland-Nelson Orlando Turner Kaleel Ross Buay Duac- PREGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

According to the AFL website. These are our NGA prospects this year. Anyone know anything about them? MELBOURNE Luke Morrell Alonzo Rockland-Nelson Orlando Turner Kaleel Ross Buay Duac- CASEY: Rd 11 vs Southport

Unfortunately there may be a bit of MRO discussion on the podcast. Feel free to sink the boots into Christian as required. I think it'll be interesting to see if Tommo gets another gig. I like the third tall being there and Tommo didn't do a whole lot wrong. I wonder though, given his lack of mobility, would Turner be better against the filth? More mobile and suited to Collingwood's smaller KPF's Mihocek and Johnson). I think both would be ineffective against Cox.- PREGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

I've re-watched the game up to 3/4 time (not that keen to proceed). I haven't seen an issue with McVee's game other than he doesn't get enough of the footy. When he does get it, he usually does something good to great with it. He makes few mistakes, is super clean and hits targets in good positions. He's just a young player trying to play his role. With experience and confidence, he'll take on the game more. I also didn't see a lot wrong with Chandler's game other than low impact. There was no lack of endeavour/pressure and he didn't do a lot wrong when he was involved, but he just wasn't that involved. Whether that was his issue or symptomatic of how the game unfolded is another matter.- Let's try and pin point the actual issue.
Without commenting on our game plan, players out of form and injury issues, I think our problem is our inability to adapt to change in game. We have this unshakeable faith in backing our system, but it's quite easy to dislodge, then our structure falls apart in-game. This can be done by savvy coaches throwing curveballs at our system - eg Brad Scott with their tall timber makeshift forward line - we couldn't adapt. Eg. Hinkley with Port. Dimma did it too but this is the only game where we could overcome the curveball - because Tiges not good enough for long enough. Secondly, the loss of key players throws our system out and we can't adapt. When Gawn went down with the knee injury earlier in the year, we immediately fell apart. The players couldn't adapt to Grundy as the sole ruck in-game (Grundy probably also wasn't match-fit enough to carry the whole can). Clarry, the same! There are also systemic shifts we're still trying to adapt to - two key defenders. It has worked at times but with Petty out and the forward line dysfunctional, it can fall to pieces too. It's all well and good saying we back our system on repeat but it's really quite shakable.- TRAINING: Monday 29th May, 2023
Thanks @kev martin! Was Verrall out there today?
