WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BERNIE VINCE
Young Dee replied to Ted Lasso's topic in Melbourne Demons
Okay..... I wouldn't trade more than a third rounder for a 28 year old. He did win the club best and fairest in 2009 though right? -
The sad thing is it is possible.
-
Definitely keep. Hasn't had a chance due to injuries (like Evans). Has showed a lot when not injured. Has height (188cm), muscle and a good kick - something we need in the midfield. Seems to be able to play well forward and in midfield - but needs to improve endurance. If we want to ever be a good club we need to find some gems in the rough and he is a perfect candidate.
-
Yep he said Dew was their preferred option. Mahoney denies doing a lot of things - which makes you ask what they are doing. (think they are just playing their cards close to their chest) You talked with any clubs about Jamar? - nope You talked to Adeliade about Sloane? - nope Nope, nope, nope etc.
-
- Mahoney just said at this moment it looks like we won't have a great swap for pick 2 (great player) and that it is more likely we will trade it for a number of players. - Also says Roos sees Watts as a David Mundy type going forward. - About 2-3 Mids short - They are really keen on Dew "he would be one of our first candidates"
-
Thanks mate.

And yet he is only 34 - you would think he had been coach for a couple decades by reading that. That's really the only thing that worries me - at 34 there must still be a few question marks over his ability to perform at the top (don' want to make a Neeld mistake again). If we do get him I would like him to have as long as possible under Roos. Also I would like Melbourne to have two possible successors so we don't put all our eggs in one basket. It would be great if Roosy stayed coach for 3 years and then 1 year as Dew's senior adviser. But I only see that happening if Roosy believes in the direction of the club after his 2-3 year contract ends.

Probably end up going to North, Carlton or the Bulldogs and leave most Demonlanders with steam coming out of their ears
-
Talking about this now on trade radio
-
Agreed - We don't seem to be to interested in the Free Agency and the draft depth isnt very strong either so its not like we have a whole lot of players we can bring in. Blease has some potential at least. (We would not get anything worthwhile either).
-
Well if they come out and say that they have agreed to part then that would probably lower his trade value. Whereas if we come out and say we are willing to trade him but he is still wanted then we might be able to get a slightly better deal.
-
I don't think anyone really cares now (they are too excited).
-
I think if we are getting rid of Jamar we need to get a new ruck prospect. Gawn - good but 2 knee recos Fitzy - a 2nd ruckman Spencer - VFL player We cant put all our eggs in one basket. Maybe Jamar to Freo for Jack Hannath?
-
A lot of outs and not so many ins

This is a recent one (this morning) from the AFL web page - nice and simple (top 20):Update: Phantom form guide to the draft It sounds like it is much the same after roughly the top 5. Would very much like to have a couple picks around 10. Could snare a couple very good young mids which were predicted to go higher (Kelly, Billings, Crouch).
-
Yer I read he was getting about 1 million for 3 years so like 350,000 a year. That's half what Thomas is getting. Mahoney also said that we fielded a very similar offer (probably more).
-
Could you please give a little info? (for those who don't know what it is)
-
I think it's a fair call. It's no different to a businessmen wanting to work at the best firm possible.
-
Just offer him a load of cash and obviously a guaranteed spot in the team (we need to find a way to pay 95% of cap anyway after losing Sylvia and Davey plus Gws can't really offer him those 2 things anyway). We need to convince him first in order to get GWS to play ball. We need to convince him so much that he is willing to tell GWS if they don't trade him he will walk next year and they will get nothing.
-
Yer thats not a bad idea if we are having trouble landing a big fish. We could then draft a mid with pick 10 and maybe try and get a establish mid like Myers with pick 11. It could be better then putting all our eggs in the one basket.
-
Just what we are looking for - a diamond in the rough (underrated due to injuries and a strong Freo midfield) We need to take risks and if we can keep him on the track he would probably already be our second best mid. Would be rapt with this pick up. Would be happy to land one big fish with pick two and a couple possible diamonds in the rough like this kid. Is at the age where he has the potential to really start impacting games.
-
So apparently the bombers are going to appoint Bomber as coach and Craig as an assistant. DOes that mean we will still have to pay out his contract? (or is it solely in his hands?)
-
So, where to from here with pick 2?

Scott Burns to Collingwood? Damn! -
My Heart Beats True - 2014 Membership Campaign Launched
Young Dee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
We currently have 16,407 members. Does anyone have a comparison to last year? It would be interesting to know. After we had consecutive years of hell we all thought we were finally on our way up but instead we managed to hit an all time low, I was thinking we would be lucky to get 25,000 members next year. Since the rearrangements of the board (PJ) and appointment of Roo's etc (hopefully more big names to come). I think we could still hit that 35-40,000 next year.
