Biggest game of the year and the umpires are already awarding garbage frees.

Never been more uninterested in a GF before. The thought of either Cox and Maynard or Daniher and Hipwood being premiership players just doesn’t sit well with me, sadly it’s only a matter of time. This year we’ve been constantly reminded that Nick Daicos is the best player in the game and Harris Andrews is the games best defender. A Brownlow medal count where 14 average touches gets you 3 votes and 42 touches and 2 goals gets you none. The umpiring / goal review system at an all time low. The tribunal system clearly broken. Two of my best mates, both Collingwood supporters (one at the game today) telling me telling me this week that we (the Dees) were the better team in both our finals and should of win them both does little to comfort me. Throughout the year I have as many on here have invested so much time & money into watching our club, betting, SC and being on here only to be left so disappointed not only by our club but the game as a whole. Having said all of that, [censored] you Maynard, Carn the Lions.

Agreed, however I did say “should be” a formality.

I’m confident we’ll win and I’ll be happy, but not excited. For me tonight should be a formality considering our list and experience. My excitement will return should we bother to show up against the Lions.

Still flat from last Thursday, easily the least emotional I’ve been at any game. Considering what was at stake and the build up during the week, then to lose the way we did…. We’ve heard about loading, lessons learnt and how we’re timing our run beautifully. It’s all just words, there was a time not that long ago we were [censored] and losing was expected. We now have arguably one of the best lists in the comp and are currently in our window. I still believe we can win the flag without Petty, Melk and possibly Gus, but it will be tough. Would be one of the greater flags of recent times if we could. Just for something different why don’t we come out all guns blazing in the 1st and see what happens. Open up fwd 50, Trac and Fritsch both out of the goal square leading in different directions (kick it in low and direct) with Kosi and Chandler starting 35 metres out from the square sprinting in. Let’s back out fwds in to win their 1 on 1’s. Start dominating the stoppages like we used to and give our defenders time to set up behind the ball. Wild Turkey barrel proof will be my friend tonight. Carn the Dees.

What a career, experienced the highs and lows to their fullest. Love the way he’s gone about it.

The Lions key fwds are Daniher and Hipwood. If we don’t win the flag it’s a debacle.

On a couple of occasions in the 2nd qtr we had opportunities to kick to a 1 on 1 inside our fwd 50 but chose to hold up the play. It’s almost like we’re waiting for the fwd to be on his own completely. Fritsch is class and a great mark, wasted opportunities. When we do bomb it in at times our smalls are no where to be seen. So frustrating, so much talent.

Need to remember Port dropped something like 4 out of their last 5 games. Also during their winning streak mid season a number of those wins were under 8 points. I still think we can take them, time will tell.

Just got home and seen the score, considering we know Port is overrated we’re Lions brilliant or just ok? I still think we can win it and if we don’t this year has been a massive failure.

Whoever we draft must be an elite kick.

Just as the Essendon players are there today watching the game so should Goodwin. A fwd line of Hogan, Lloyd. Daniels, Bedford, Riccardi and only the one top end talent in Greene. Quick ball movement and kicking to a player’s advantage.

I think we need to maintain that structure for the rest of the year.

I find it amusing that some on here and the socials think that if you believe Maynard should get suspended you haven’t laced up a boot…. Maynard had a right to protect himself, protect himself from what? A player running full tilt and kicking the footy is basically unprotected. But hold on, it was a natural action to turn side on…. If you are about to collide with something or fall or be attacked the natural human position is to raise your arms. If Maynard kept his his arms in front they both might fall to the ground but both would get up and walk away. Having said that he’ll either get off or only cop a week.

Numerous opportunities in that last 10 minutes to move the ball quicker inside 50 to a 1 on 1 and we chose to hold it up. The scoreboard speaks for itself.

The Viney and Melksham goals against the Lions were massive.

Just spotted another Demon fan at Tullamarine, [censored] getting real.

Been up early every day so far this week for work, got a late flight back tomorrow. Would love nothing more than a sleep in tomorrow with victory secured.

Sitting at the airport waiting lounge, long day ahead….

Couldn’t get that, flying to Melbourne to watch a game of footy. They (league supporters or the majority of them) don’t understand the passion involved in AFL. Our clubs been down for so long I want to be there when we’re dominating the big games.

Can’t wait, my wife and I are flying in from Sydney. My mate and his partner who are Pies supporters are flying in from Perth. I was at a bbq last Saturday explaining this to league supporters and they just couldn’t get…. AFL is the greatest game in the world, and we’ll be watching the oldest football club in the world play at the greatest sporting stadium. Hopefully back in another couple of weeks to see them hold the cup aloft. Lesgue tickets are so accessible come finals, says a lot really.

And the selection of BBB, this really could have waited to the following week.
