  1. It begs the question raised when Grimes first relinquished the captaincy. Was he pushed? Being captain or not should have nothing to do with it. Can he play the role that is asked of him? Is there someone on the list that could do that role better?
  2. Frawley searched for the best deal....not privy to any details but if speculation is to be believed Freo offered the better financial deal, Hawks offered less cash but a chance at the ultimate.
  3. Coopers pale ale from the tap. Jimmy Squire golden ale from the tap. Carlton draught from the tap.
  4. Great story but it brought back memory's off the Tyson story when he did some off his own training and nearly came unstuck.
  5. I went without Garland, I had Dunn as my third tall, I think he is quite versatile. Jetta in a back pocket.....flank? I left Garland out purely because if H is on one flank, and with Frost and McDonald are the two talls he becomes surplus to needs. With all this supposed talent coming through, and being a couple years off being a serious threat we need to use this time to blood a youngster/s with elite disposal by foot. De we go a good player who we know what we will get or put game time into someone who has the potential to become elite. Play Salem of a back flank this year and use Toumpas as the sub. Then next year give Salem more time in the midfield and play Toumpas off half back. Kent and Petracca can play forward/mid. Viney, Brayshaw, Tyson, Michie might be better suited to purely a midfield role. Suddenly we have a very versatile/dangerous line up. We won't improve by staying the same, yes I'm aware of who we've drafted and that Hogan is raring to go but there is room for improvement everywhere. I also left Grimes out, I've noticed a few teams have him on the bench. Is he suddenly a midfielder? I would rather Michie or Newton given an opportunity before him.
  6. But with the rolling draw the idea is that we're not always a penciled in win. As for ghe Friday night games I can only assume it's to do with supporter base.
  7. Yes it is always granted, but "the argument" will be in a lot of cases North, Dogs, us ect it's our highest earner for the year. As mentioned earlier we need to improve on a consistent basis before they will listen to us.
  8. To be fair every nearly every Victorian club requests to play the Pies at the G even if it isn't their home ground.
  9. I like the idea, wasn't this years draw based on that from 2013 results?
  10. The only fair draw for mine is - Year 1 - play all teams once, then play 1-5 a second time. Year 2 - play all teams once , then play 6-10 a second time. Year 3 - " ", then play 11-15 a second time. Year 4 - " ", then 16,17, 1, 2 , 3 a second time. And so on. It constantly evolves. 1 being Adelaide and 17 being the Eagles, not ladder positions. This purely dictates how many times teams play each other in any given year. This doesn't have to dictate the order in which you play them. Armed with the knowledge that everyone plays each other once you could start by marking in Anzac Day, Queens Birthday, grand final replay then slot everything else around it.
  11. Its a delicate balance of getting games into the first/second years players that have the class/potential to be great to those who have had several years on the list and still struggle with the basics or are consistently good/average without being great. We finished 17th.....
  12. Geelong.....Geelong.....Geelong. Bartell, Kelly, Chapman, Stevie J ect ect damaging mids who can also play forward/back flanks.
  13. JETTA FROST DUNN H MCDONALD SALEM VINCE JONES WATTS KENT PEDO HOWE GARLETT HOGAN PETRACCA JAMAR TYSON CROSS VINEY MICHIE TOUMPAS NEWTON I would like to see Salem/Toumpas start off a back flank as some elite disposal coming out the back half. Apparently being the captain affects your ability to kick a footy.
  14. Article on AFL website, Roos unsure if Jones will captain alone next season. Struggling to come up with another name. No need for co-captains.
  15. Im Melbourne born and bred, moved to Sydney five years ago for work, spent last four years living in Cronulla. There is some truth in what you say. There's one pub in Cronulla and in there pathetic excuse of a sports bar they're good enough to put on the fox footy for me when the Dee's are playing, even if it's only on a small tv with the volume down while the masses watch league on the big screen. It doesn't take long before the punters come over to see why one bloke is making so much noise.
  16. Lives in Bondi......Bondi is a tip. He'd want to be in Manly or Cronulla.
  17. Your right the game has changed so I can't understand why people still think Grimes is an automatic selection and there's no need for us to have some elite users of the football coming off halfback. I still use the term back six/forward six because that's how they line up on paper but ideally I'd have both back flankers and one of the forward flanks as midfielders who just so happen know how to use the footy.
  18. Garland would not be a walk up start at every club. Over his career he has been good, reasonably consistent but not what I would call great or elite. TDI has said The Prince is playing off half back, so who misses out. Although Garland at times he may have had to play as a key defender I think he's better suited as a third tall.Jetta Frost Dunn The Prince McDonald Howe/Grimes/Garland Too many names so someone's got to go. The club targeted Frost for a reason, he played 16 games last year, has a bit of go about him and will hopefully form the back half of the spine for years to come along with McDonald. So The Prince takes a good intercept mark, breaks the lines with his run which is something we desperately need but we still lack an elite kick of half back. Jetta Frost Dunn The Prince McDonald Salem/Toumpas/someone-anyone There is enough experience there to allow us to try someone else who has the potential to be an damaging player for us for years to come.
  19. RPFC - If The Prince is playing on the wing. How did the first choice backs set up? Although our defence improved last year we still lack class. Is now the time to groom someone at half back. Salem or Toumpas. Highlight packages can be deceiving but I like the look of Frost. From the training reports Howe is still in defence, I personally would play him forward. Jetta Frost Dunn Salem McDonald Howe Garland is 26, allowing for injurys he's been good without being great. Grimes is another interesting one. We need to be better than good if we are to climb off the bottom.
  20. Premiership player is only overrated when discussing Nick Maxwell or Nathan Ablett.
  21. Phase 1 complete, management has done their numbers. Now for phase 2.
  22. I am not across any contract/s but would have thought with the recent departures of Clark and Chip, Dawes into his 3rd year of his contract, Vince and The Prince on decent wickets, lots of kids and comparing our list player for player with the likes of Hawthorn and Sydney we could easily accomodate what Jones is asking and offer huge coin for "insert name".
