  1. "I must be the only one who thinks he's comfortably beating Jones in the B&F. I've been pretty disappointed with Jones' season. I've been more frustrated than anything, because he's had to run the midfield single-handedly. I'm not convinced he's been tagged the last few weeks. I think he was getting a tag between about rounds 3-7 and it's dropped off since".....spoke to Liam Picken about this, he is shattered, you have been facing the right way?
  2. I say chaps, Grimes was training with the Casey boys when I got there last week, then went and did some training on the other oval, then came back and did a bit more with main group, so fitness is not an issue, has been doing contact training for two weeks
  3. Mono....just a note on Strauss, read the latest Casey review, they have been really working on his aggressiveness or perceived lack thereof, they belt him around at the trainings I have seen With the midfield, I raise this point, last year Port's midfield was a supposed basket case like ours, they added a big bodied kid and got another pre season into the youngsters in the midfield and bang.......this is the plan, Toumpas, Evans, Matt Jones, Viney (wait till you see the size he has put on) et al, Terlich will be able to go in.......take a deep breath everybody......Gawn/Spencer/Fitzpatrick/? will all have another pre season as well........the club said they wouldn't mind another quality midfielder, let them work on it It will come, again we saw flashes of it on Saturday, this week will be a real test, but you learn from them The coaching is the last thing to worry about, at least they are trying things, Nicholson as a tagger, he will have learnt so much on Saturday trying to curail Griffen, give him Hanneberry this week
  4. And some supports just whingeing for whingeing sake, move on and get back on topic, there are plenty of other threads to whinge in
  5. Just posters going back analyzing 10 seconds of play, that don't matter any more.....
  6. WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and this topic is about Fitzpatrick, give it a rest, I am already looking forward to see them having a crack against Sydney and Fitzy taking another step
  7. The point being you said you were nervous when he got the ball? why?......he was a level above on Saturday which he should be.....his kicking is not the problem, bit like Watts can be sometimes, stands back trying to read the ball out instead of getting in and getting it, only knock I have on him, although most of the time this can be beneficial if you can use it if you get it...Houli at Richmond being a prime example
  8. I take it you didn't watch Strauss' game for Casey on Saturday then? Back on topic, re Fitzpatrick, he has played seven games, he has overcome shoulder surgery, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and being diagnosed with Diabetes 1 (and the changes to lifestyle that entails), he has played his guts out at Casey and been rewarded. He is growing in confidence with every game and until Clark is fit, he will do me up forward, it is up to him to keep his place on the list and if he continues on from Saturday he will do it From somebody who has watched him in junior games and at Casey, when he had the shot from the boundary I sat back and said to my lovely lady he'll kick this.....seen him do it before
  9. I think that they are looking for a mix in the midfield and they think Rodan and Byrnes bring something different to that mix, again I am with the "I can't quite see what Byrnes brings" school, I regard him as another mistake that was made, I think Rodan showed a bit last week and probably just needs a run at it, he has been in and out of the side, not sure he will stay in when Viney is ready
  10. "Some 75% here even demanded Neeld was the man to revive MFC similar to many whites in Jack Johnson's era who tried to invent someone to topple the Galveston Giant" Black and white (invented or not) were not allowed to 'topple' each other during the majority of the Galveston Gians's era You have expressed yourself, but obviously didn't or don't allow others to express themselves if it is at odds with your view, is this correct? Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it Pity most of us were aboard the Blunder-bus
  11. Who really cares about the LTI, it is nearly 8 weeks anyway, I don't personally see why there is so much love for Magner, I never bag players as such, but in my opinion Magner is too one dimensional, I think that is why he finds it so hard to keep his place, he doesn't kick goals at AFL level either and I was actually repeating what I was told by the midfield development coach..... but in the VFL he should star which he does
  12. If you must split hairs, I watched Grimes at training today, wouldn't surprise if he makes an appearance for Casey next week, so he will be off the LTI, if not already. Magner played doz he was in form, think it was when Rodan wasn't, I asked Aaron Greaves at beginning of season and that was what I gleaned from his answer
  13. I am pretty sure you will find they regard Magner as a back up for Nathan Jones only, so whilst Nathan is fit and fiting, Magner will stay at Casey, Viney is only a week or two away as well
  14. The main group was up and about as they like to say, Frawley looks refreshed, so perhaps the injury was a good thing, if that makes sense, Craig was all over the place during training, in a good way, one on one seems to be his speciality, had a quick chat with Watts before he left. Watched Rohan Welsh taking the Casey boys for something different, he is good, no wonder they are flying The good news is Viney, looks nearly ready, still doing laps and bit of ball work
  15. Was there this morning 1. Would be very surprised if Chris Dawes plays, seems to have an ongoing issue with the ankle, left on the golf cart half way through and returned, media in attendance so may appear 2. Jack Watts did not do the main session, I got there about 9.30am and he was training with the Casey group, did everything for about 20 mins and then left, assume like Sam Blease last week he has something personal to attend to For all the junior coaches, Satterly spent about 20 mins with Hogan looking at his kicking for goal One interesting bit, there was media there, couple of cameras and Craig took them onto the ground to be near the main group when they were warming up and do a little drill
  16. For the wonderfully descriptive posters criticising they obviously don't work in an organisation in the 21st Century You have heard everybody now call footy an industry, everybody in the 'official' media has to be careful, if you put the wrong thing in the public arens, you can be accused of workplace bullying or discrimation, hence why a lot is vanilla, it is meant for information more than anything else, as I said in previous post don't read it
  17. Oh snide remarks are an answer to a question are they? I suppose people swoon with unbridled excitement when you walk into a room? He is a journalist (a proper one), he asks the questions, the people who are answering are supposed to be the important ones, suppose you want him to be more like that [censored] Barrett
  18. Matt Burgan has been a Dees supporter for most of his life, so he has been hurting as much as the rest of us, but he has to turn up everyday no matter how he feels and prepare content for the MFC website with all the constraints that entails, to have a couple of posts like the above is typical of some of the so called Dees supporters that post on this board. He answered your question re Magner, there is no LTI so Magner is a rookie again, we elevanted Clisby as the mid season rookie, so perhaps you misunderstood Same as on here if you don't like what he writes/or says then don't read or listen to it
  19. No, you are confusing him with Bill Shorten.....anyway the departure from Geelong was fractious, after all he had done, think we should look elsewhere, haven't we had enough trouble?
  20. How long have you been reading/inputting into Demonland?
  21. This has happened quite a few times in the last few seasons, not with the whole group but with smaller groups, like the 1st year players etc...but because of the bad press we have been receiving re development of players........assume it is another PJ driven initiative ......of course the cameras being there to record and then appear on Club website
  22. Chap, this is a storm in a teacup, started by one or two posters on here who probably coach an Under 9's team and have decided his kicking action is not 'textbook', not sure how many he has kicked up to now, but got to be at least in the twenties so averaging 2 a game. I have watched a few Casey games already this season, and can't wait to see him run out next season for MFC
  23. So you have only just turned 18 and come straight into the second best footy comp in the country as well have you. There is nothing wrong with Hogan's kicking, he kicked 4, any forward would die for 4 goals a game, his kicking action is not text book, neither is Josh Kennedy's, if he keeps it and comes into the AFL and kicks 4 a game he can take the first couple of steps backwards for all I care.
  24. You have to remember some posters miss bits, going backwards and forwards to the bar for next beer,, just jumping on the bandwagon, Pedo is like the rest of the team at the moment, a mixture of good and bad, but Kosi did not kill him
  25. I don't take offense from posts like yours, you can have your own opinion, I think I would prefer to believe the players who speak to me rather than a journalist, but that is my choice as well...I am just hoping everybody can move on now As for the training session, it was a solid session, with good intensity, from both squads As for Garland's demeanour, he was fine at training, I got a nod as he left the track I am sure he would have been waiting for the line of questioning at the presser, think his demeanour was him concentrating on his answers to stop them being misconstrued or misreported
