  1. Not sure he's out of shape, has a history of doing hammys early in pre season, maybe on tailored progam, interesting group he was running with Trac BenKen and Frosty
  2. There is a grey area with working with coaches and fitness staff during off season, they are not supposed to be supervised etc not sure of the rules, just told by some players weights are out during off season
  3. This is another good pick up, highly regarded young coach
  4. They usually do 1st one when everbody is back, but new Coach, the soccer drill was a first today
  5. I know they do that rope thing during the off season and that helps arms and chest Weight thing is in case they get ahead of themselves and try and lift weights they are not capable of and do some serious damage Didn't think Bill looked any bigger, was another one in great shape though
  6. Ben Mathews said all were at a good level of fitness. As above Hogan must have done a heap of work looks in top shape as does Nev Jetta who said he had been training with Jeff Garlett during off season the reverse view nobody looked like they had 'enjoyed' the pre season too much I joked with the fitness staff that I was disappointed that this was the first year of watching the first day back and none of the players had had a second look at breakfast, they must have been too easy on them it was a nice warm up get the legs going 2hr session
  7. From what I can gather from talking to the players, off season they are told to stay away from the weights, assume for safety, supervision and proper instruction, so we will see Omac 'grow' during pre season Always find it hilarious we find somebody who weighs in at 93 or 94kgs as skinny, all relative I suppose ,
  8. They both fitted in seamlessly, they were in rehab group working their way back in, Goodwin had a good chat to them before they left training, Hibberd up close is a solid unit, think he will enjoy the smash bit, cool photo as well
  9. For some reason Tommy Mc didn't turn up in MFC gear was dressed as Dante Exum in Utah Jazz basketball gear Had a laugh with the 2 media guys from the club, had to try and not get him in shot for 'official' photos, I put a photo of him on Instagram or Twitter Demonpk
  10. Interesting drill that I have never seen before passing soccer balls, using both feet Spoke to Benny Mathews, a good sign all had come back ready to go Spoke to Goody also, excited particularly about what both Hibberd and Lewis can bring to the group Hogan is in great shape, so is Nev Jetta Missing were the young guys who had played the whole Casey finals campaign Weed Hulett White Smith ANB Oliver
  11. My report had a chat to all the wounded VDB ankle cleaned out, just getting back into it, not too far off Mitch King, he and medical/fitness staff really pleased with his progress Jack Viney, hip is fine, again making progess to full fitness JKH hamstrings are fine, has daily program to build his core Tommy Mc, who came disguised as Dante Exum, shoulder progressing, on schedule
  12. Alex Sakadjian (who is the high performance trainer and rehab guy at the Club) has opened a fitness centre in Rowville with Liam Shiels from Hawthorn and another guy, a few of the players have put photos on Instagram advertising the place, included Trac doing some agility work, looks pretty fit
  13. I am on shift work, so hoping to get quite often up to start of season
  14. I said I was going to be more 'technical' in my report, may have to change that now, will try and get a few pics of the 'new' guys, interesting to see whether Hibberd and Melksham turn up day one, usually it is just the 1st and 2nd years and also McKenna (theoretically 3rd year) And who of the senior players start as well, Jones, Gawn and a few others were there from day 1 last year
  15. Abe, I have a similar opinion about having played AFL footy to be able to make a comment on a players ability or lack of, but only if you are going to denigrate or make derogatory comments about the said players ability Those of us who have played footy at any level have all missed targets, missed a tackle, shirked a contest, dropped a mark etc so we can't exactly make derogatory comments along those lines, although it is ok to say if you have an opinion that a player is not upto AFL standard, but expect to be asked to explain why I was really looking forward to watching Dawes play alongside Jesse Hogan and torment defences, unfortunately it didn't happen very often, Chris gave everything each time he played, but like Nut I know why he wasn't offered another contract
  16. Bloody well said Nut, point I have been trying to make, though the poster who makes derogatory comments usually says more about themselves than the player Chris Dawes was a top bloke, well respected around the cllub, his time with MFC just didn't work out like he and the club would have liked, for a myriad of reasons
  17. WJ, thanks for the info, and the last sentence, will be there with camera, will try and be a bit more 'technical' with the report.
  18. Garlett is like every other player on the list, Goodwin will have a role for him, if he plays it on a consistently good level or better, he will stay in the team
  19. Gee chap you have hit the red a bit early today, that would mean a payout of 2 years money, don't forget the whinging on here after he re signed early this year, had the money in his pocket and gave up for the rest of the season. He, like everybody else, will be under pressure to perform
  20. I watched Roos go off his head at Jack Viney at training, does this count? He only did it occasionally in the times I watched him at training, but when he did, he really went off. Neeld actually didn't go off nearly as much, an urban myth perpetuated on here perhaps, he was very controlled at training, perhaps that was one of the issues he had
  21. Well said, I always think it says more about the poster. Fitzy got through a hell of a lot to make it onto 2 AFL lists
  22. You have to remember he did well coming from part time footy in the NEAFL, he just ran out of petrol, Put this before, spoke to him at function at end of season, we joked the only part of his body not sore were his eyebrows we have so many guys who will hopefully get a full pre season under their belts and go up another level
  23. Just bought the DVD collection of Adam Adamant Lives to sayisfy my soft spot of 60's British TV
  24. Didn't they all play for the 'Old Grammarians'
  25. Quatermass and the Pit, agreed, thought one of your favourite sci fi would be Silent Running
