  1. Good take. Weid has had his chances and failed to play a standout game, although I admit he has shown some improvement at times. Van Rooyen just needs to keep putting his name in front of the selectors and he could be wearing a medal come September.

I admit that my memory is deteriorating, but I'm sure we chased Amon a few years back. Maybe it was around the time we got Langdon? Very interesting if true. It shows that we may have more salary cap space than we think and that we are looking at all avenues to keep the flag window open. (the conspiracy theorist in me says that it is planning for life ex-Angus)
  3. Flowers contested marking for a bloke as skinny as he, was phenomenal. And you could put him at half back, wing or half forward and he was just as dangerous. I tend to not rate the players of yesteryear compared to todays, but this guy would have been something else playing in todays team. Agree with Nasher in that we are unlikely to see a group like this again in our lifetimes. Savor it.

Ah, righto. And here I was thinking the "3 headed dragon/monster" was English/Bruce/Naughton I'll take ours every day of the week thanks.
  5. His manager would be thinking about time after Gawn (and May, Viney) etc. There will be big coin available once our older stars are out of the picture and if we don't pay it, someone else will. I'd be delighted if he signed for 2 more years. The window won't get any more open in 2025 than it is now.
  6. Have thought for a few years now that Oliver in particular will end up the best player in the clubs history. He can't replicate the sheer genius skills of the great Robbie Flower, but he does things that no other midfielder has ever done in our colors, and he does it with a consistency that the league has rarely witnessed. ......and then there's the best ruckman the club has ever seen, and the explosive game changing bull in Petracca. It really will be a failure if we don't win 2 or 3 flags with this list. It's bloody magnificent.

Love your work Fork, but it's somewhat of a stretch calling Lever a "defensive beast"

May will end his career as one of the best K.P defenders we have ever had. A fitting legacy based on his output since he crossed over. Will always be known as a Dees legend.
  9. We are ALL entitled to an opinion, and thankfully this site allows us to express it provided we don't go throwing abuse at each other. I think the club (and League) is doing more than enough to recognize our indigenous people and don't think the name change is necessary. Am I getting worked up over it? Not at all, and certainly not as much as you are about someone expressing an opinion you don't like. Please refrain from asking me to keep mine to myself from this point forward faulty.
  10. Why? Don't you have a coping mechanism for dissenting views? The design not up to recent standards. I've loved the past few efforts, but this one? Nah As far as the name goes. Nope. We should always be the Melbourne Football Club. The commentators will mostly just call us the Dees/Demons during the call anyway to save the embarrassment. Just like they did with Gary Hocking when he changed his name via deedpol to "whiskas"
  11. Bloody oath it did. It was the thing that stood out the most for me (and the cough that almost made me spew) Even my young wife was knackered for a week. I was still tired 3 weeks after testing.

Are you in Luzon or the Visayas? My Mrs is from Biri in the North-Eastern Visayas. Not a bad place. Hope the team gets up for you when you make the trip back. Long way to come for a loss.

Nope. We'll have decided our own fortunes well before then.

Perfectly said. A season without a loss would be remarkable, considering the training loads being set up to peak in finals.
  15. Absolutely hilarious pal. Pure genius. Nah, Weid has been brilliant. I particularly love his overhead contest for a bloke who plays as a tall forward. I'd argue my point only you come across as a [censored] know-all so it would be wasted on you.
  16. Jeez Weideman would want to do something decent in the last. Surely he doesn't have many goat photos left?
  17. Agree. A terrible game thus far.
  18. We are an 8 goal better side who is having a nightmare withs its kicking. We'll break this open if we keep the effort up.
  19. Always said that Smiths weakness was his footy brain. I stand vindicated.
  20. Jesus. A skillset rather than a dog act, bend-your-knees-while-throwing-your-head-back pansy effort at cheating. Weightman, Hunter, Matheison, Selwood, Spargo and their ilk make me want to spew. Should be a free and 50m every time they do it.
  21. What did they say? Can't imagine that the DuckDogs have admitted they have a sweetheart deal with the umps.
  22. I'll bet he is far from the only player who understands how important Jackson and Roos were to not just a Premiership, but our very survival as a club. The AFL coercing/financing Jackson was effectively the end of the Norm Smith curse. Demetriou saw the problem and acted on it. Gil was the conduit. I've had a man-crush on Gil since the day he announced our "not guilty" verdict, while saying "I don't know what tanking is" (paraphrasing). Never forget that Gil & co could have sank us and they chose not to. The only negative is poor Dean Bailey (God rest his soul) taking more of the blame than he deserved. R.I.P Dean.
  23. You just know it's going to happen.
  24. That's actually what he meant. Duh.
  25. Terrible. Just awful compared to the beautiful efforts of past seasons. At least my lovely wife won't be asking me to buy this one as she has in the past. Save some coin.
