When Brown tackled Davey without the ball, did we go and kick a goal from the next play phase??? We allowed the umpiring to become a factor by not kicking straight. Because of this, the umpiring cost us the game as well our own poor play when the game was on the line. When i watch the great teams play, they can shut a game down in the death when they have a lead. eg. Spotting up targets and maintaining possession. If unable to spot a target, get the ball down the line and over the boundary for a stoppage to bottle it up and eat up game time. Flooding back with numbers in the final minutes, and not allow the manner of easy goals which we have allowed to lose the close ones. We have been unable to do any of these things well, and they have to be a major priority to Riley and the new coach(if not Riley) for next year.

I don't think i hate any supporters more than Bomber supporters after they win. I am not a violent man, but i wanted to start punching on after that loss. They didn't deserve it, they got favourable umpiring desicions all game, yet still managed to whine at every call given against them. [censored] I HATE ESSENDON!!!!!!!!

I have just got home from the game, and i m glad someone has brought this up. We may have contributed to our loss, but it make smy stomach churn to know those maggots in the yellow jerseys had just as much to do with that result. There is nothing worse than having to travel home in packed train full of smug Bomber supporters, who don't even realise thay just got way with another win, not due to their own talent.

I thought we might get a bit of an appreciation thread for the Reverend. My favourite monent is the one that has been getting a bit of a run in all the news grabs tonight. It was after we beat the Bulldogs in that game a couple of years ago to get us into the finals and Neil game charging down the race showing us all the passion he had for the Red & Blue. I think that will definitely be a lasting memory for me of all his time at the club. Also on a broader scale, was the way ND changed his persona to "The Reverend"over the last few years. He is hard man to dislike.
-
This is the kinda stuff though, that will turn up on the radio or mainstream press. Don't you think that will create even more pressure?
-
I am [censored] off that when Newton finally gets to play, he is going to be under extreme pressure with all this massive build up, instead of being slotted in about 6 or 7 weeks ago like he should have. So, although i can afford a pledge. I won't on the grounds of not wanting to put the kid under undue pressure.

My 3 word player analysis V Bitchmond

MFC - crumble like biscuits -
I still can't believe Pettard didn't play in the first qtr. What's the strategy in bringing Davey off the bench? He'll get tagged when he comes on anyway.
-
Bruce wouldn't have much trade value after getting towelled up by Daniel Jackson. DANIEL JACKSON FFS!!!!
-
Well, ND did actually call him Lee Newton in a SEN interview on the Morning Glory the other week, so maybe he doesn't actually know who he is.
-
I hate going to Melbourne games, and when your team walks off the ground at half time almost 11 goals down to a winless Tigers, and you hurl abuse at their pathetic performance, other Demon supporters sit there quietly looking at you like you have a disease.

Juice and buckley finally get mentioned!
Jerry Lundergard replied to DEMON WITHIN's topic in Melbourne Demons
I heard the interview, the reverend was fantastic as always. However, i am almost positive that he said "Lee Newton"and Buckley??? -
How many players in the league can you think of that you would hate more than Didak? I am struggling to think of one.
-
I'm glad he is in. I am hoping Daniel Bell gets the job on him, tears him a new one and finally gets some recognition outside of our own club that he deserves.

In light of No.1 draft pick Bryce Gibbs winning this weeks rising star nomination, i thought it might be an interesting topic of discussion, that after 10 rounds and what you have seen of both players, if it was draft time now, who would you take? Stats MT K H D Avg M Avg HO Avg T Avg FF FA G Avg B Ricky Petterd 5 52 38 90 18 39 7.8 0 0 9 1.8 1 6 3 0.6 2 MT K H D Avg M Avg HO Avg T Avg FF FA G Avg B Bryce Gibbs 10 76 58 134 13.4 42 4.2 1 0.1 25 2.5 2 4 1 0.1 1 I probably haven't seen enough of Gibbs play yet, and i think he is year younger, but i would take Pettard. He has shown amazing composure and skill for a first year player, and probaly most importantly courage. Backing into the hole in front of B.Hall in his first game will always live in my memory, and even last week i saw him throw himself into the pack after the ball in a way that would put some of our senior players to shame. Is there another first year player you have seen that you would take first pick. Selwood maybe?

come out Bruce baggers wherever you are ?
Jerry Lundergard replied to Bay Riffin's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have never been a Bruce bagger. I don't believe though he should be our next captain. I would rather see Brock with that role. It is clear from the last 2 weeks that he benefits from having hard inside midfielders like Brock and N.Jones in the team to complement his game. And, i don't believe he was BOG yesterday. I would've had Green and Bell ahead of him. -
It has been a long time since i have looked foward to reading the sports section of the paper after a demons game this year. So when i sat down to read it with a coffee this morning, i was litlte disappointed to realise that an imbecile had watched and reported on the game yesterday. He gives Cam Bruce best on ground. Bruce was great, but not better than Bell or Green. And he managed to give 2 Adelaide players votes, even though, outside of about 20 minutes of play they were comprehensibly beaten all day. Would' Melbourne players have got votes yesterday if the results were reversed? He also managed not to even give Daniel Bell a mention in his match report even though he gave him 3 votes. Can you believe idiots like this Davis Reed actually get paid to do a job like theirs?

RD 10 Votes for player of the year
Jerry Lundergard replied to demonfanjezza's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know you love Jones mate, but BOG for today's game is a bit of a stretch when there was clearly at least 2 better than him today. -
I'm pumped about our first win tomorrow
Jerry Lundergard replied to Finks's topic in Melbourne Demons
I knew we would win today, and had money on us(not much), because four years ago on this round on a Saturday afternoon at the G, a Hawthorn team that had barely won a game all year beat the Crows at the G. Why do i remember this? Because as i was getting married at the botanical gardens, the Hawthorn theme song bellowed out from the G. Much to the delight of all the hawk fans present at my wedding. Omen bet come good! -
Some drongo dees supporter called up MMM after the game to single out players that weren't going to take Melbourne foward to win a flag, and he managed to single out N.Carroll, P.Johnson and S.Grodfrey. Not sure what game he was watching, or if he has been watching any lately, but if you visit these boards and are reading this. YOU ARE AN IDIOT!

For starters i would like to see Ward, Brown and Miller gone, for us to actually begin to appear to have a competetive side.
-
I agree with the fact the demons were absolutely pathetic for the first 3 quarters today. No excuses there. What will slightly annoy me though, is that analysts will say we have got our good players back(McLean, Robbo). But the reality is, we gained them, but lost Sylvia, Whelan, Bate and Yze, so we were actually worse off. I don't like to make excuses for us, but this is just one of those seasons we are going to have to put behind us. Get rid of the deadwood from our list and start preparing for 2008. I am not sure if ND should be part of those plans, but either way, i still feel if our luck improves next year we will be competetive again.
-
It begs the question. Why does Bizz struggle to get a game, yet Ward and Brown are almost automatic inclusions everyweek. Opposition teams actually allow Brown to get the ball, because they know he isn't going to hurt them with his use of it.
-
Trade or Draft what type of players we need ?
Jerry Lundergard replied to Deano74's topic in Melbourne Demons
A good tap ruckman. How about one that actually thinks where or who he wants to tap the ball to, and then is able to execute it. -
My 3 word player analysis V The Beagles
Jerry Lundergard replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree. I thought Bell was terrible today, but so was our whole backline. I wonder what they think though, when they are watching the Eagles tear down the ground in numbers without any red jumpers within 10 meters of them. Pretty daunting i think. The sooner Rivers is back, and Brown and Ward are gone, we'll look better.
