My 3 word player analysis V The Bullfrogs
Jerry Lundergard replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
I very much doubt when we have the likes of Garland, Frawley and Rivers back in our team, that Grimes would have a matchup with the other teams best small forwards. Even so, there have been players with much more than 2 games experience who have been torched by those players. -
I liked the look of him in that Scorps vs. Tigers game, thought he was one of our best, so i hope he gets a run this week. Nasher just had him on his delistings in that thread, but i think he still very youg as he was the youngest taken in the draft a couple of years back.

Let's reverse the roles and look into the future about 3 or 4 years when we are flying as a top 2 team, and we are coming up against the other top team in the comp who plays at Etihad, wouldn't you want that game shifted so as many people as possible could see it at the G? I know that might not happen if they have to shift Collingwood, but as long as we are going to only pull a crowd of about 20,000 for the WCE game, i think in terms of the game of AFL and the comp itself it would absolutely be the right decision.

My 3 word player analysis V The Beagles
Jerry Lundergard replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Dunn looked like he got shifted down back due to our injuries, but may not have ventured forward anyway. In regards to kicking action, would i be right to assume that there would be players who have perfect kicking actions yet still don't hit targets regulary, and others who are slightly imperfect, and do hit their targets? Just wondering if we blame kicking actions sometimes, when it may actually be more of a mental thing. Just like golf swings, or basketball shots, seemingly less than perfect actions can still produce outstanding results. -
Just thought i would bump this topic, because i had never really experienced any of the BT bitterness toward the Demons before, and today was no exception. I thought he had a pretty good call of the game, and gave us fair praise at different times.

Another one i think you can add to that is Petterd. Didn't have a massive influence on the game today, but i just enjoy the way he seems to love a big moment, and calmly slots through goals that should be kicked at crucial times, like he did against the Tigers.

Tough interchange to pick from. I wonder if the WA boys get a gig in front of friends and family. Bad luck to all you Bate and Dunn haters, they are named o the field again. Here is hoping they get 60 possessions, 8 goals and 15 tackles between them to keep the wolves at bay.

Mike Sheahan had an interesting look at the Saints list in which i will quote, "I wouldn't have believed it possible a team with all of Zac Dawson, Michael Gardiner, James Gwilt, Clinton Jones, Justin Koschitzke and Andrew McQualter could challenge like it is." Now,with the exception of Kosi when he is on his game, i defy anyone to tell me these are better than the bottom five or six players we have on our team. And although i haven't done the research, i bet these are the kind of players, that over the last couple of seasons had their own fans questioning how the could ever challenge as a team with players such as these. I guess the question remains then, have they improved this year? Or is it just a case when you have a core of A-Grade players fit and firing, they can lift the level of the whole team? Maybe some of the likes of Dunn, Bate, Newton, Bartram, Bell, PJ and Sylvia won't seem like deadwood once we actually develop a core of A-Grade players ourselves. Maybe we are just frustrated because none of these players are going to turn into the superstars we had hoped. Dropping these players from our list and replacing them with picks from weakened drafts won't necessarily improve our standing as a team.

I agree with this one. I liked the look of T-Mac yesterday.

My I/C would be, Johnson, Jones, Morton and Cheney. The two WA boys can have a spell together. Cheney deserves another crack and his hard nose,no frills style will suit against the Cats.

Pretty sure Maric did't play at Skilled last year. That was in Rnd 3 i think,Maric didn't debut until later in the year.

These comments may be partly true, but the AFL has turned itself into the biggest sporting brand in Australia on the back of it, while other sports struggle for sponsorship, free to air TV and identity. If the AFL had not have taken this path, another sport may have, and the MFC could have become the Sydney Kings. Would you have preferred that? Sport is big business all around the world, we are just catching up.
-
It's a pretty simple equation. Start winning games, with an exciting brand of footy. Get footy fans interested in our footy club and where it is going, and we won't get shafted. That will be left to one of the other low profile Melbourne teams like, the Roos or Bulldogs. It is how the system and structure of the AFL works, and why go cap in hand to the AFL and get compensated.

Juice Newton- Criticisms, Comments and Kudos

Where is Daniel Ward? -
If he can take a grab and kick straight, he is a required player in our forward line.
-
Morton and Bartram both destroyed us with kicking turnovers today, but i would prefer to persist with Morton. OUT Bartram Newton Jetta IN ROBBO MARIC GRIMES
-
How would Monfries go without Lloyd and Lucas down there? Bate has't been great, but i will reserve judgment until he hopefully gets to play with Robbo and Wona down in the forward line as well.

6. McLean 5. Frawley 4. Davey 3.Moloney 2. Petterd 1.Dunn(For kicking half our goals)

QBD against Collingwood may drag an extra 10,000 through the gates and shut those up at AFL House who have been questioning our right to the game recently.
-
That may the case, but when opposition coaches start to istruct therir team to allow Bartram all the space in the world in the hope he receives the ball(this used to happen to Godders), when do his negatives start to outweigh his positives?
