I propose Round 21 next season against Carltank, should be our "line in the sand" game.

One thing that i have never seen mentioned about Blease that struck me when i watched the U/18 final, was that he also has a bit of mongrel in him even though he is quite a skinny kid. I remember watching him thinking "this kid is a goer, i like him". Also, a couple of astute footy "experts" in Liam Pickering and Robert Shaw, are both on the record as saying that having watched him in that final, they saw something special in him.

Strauss is definitely going to be our Lyndsay Gilbee. Exactly what our team needs, a player with great pace off the half back line who can deliver the ball with precision. Think of Daniel Ward without the kicks down the oppositions throats.

I guess not as he was taken already. -

Will we take a third Sawns Districts player in Walters with our next pick? -
Jack Watts - don't expect too much too soon

Judd and Buddy supported the Dees before they were drafted. So if he does follow the Saints it doesn't mean jack [censored], because he won't be playing for them. How much could he have actually been exposed to Baily to not be impressed by him? He said all the right things about Melbourne at the draft camp, and also in the Fox studios during the carnival he stated that he didn't fllow an AFL team, so i would put that rumour in to the trash file. -
I've spoken to people who have both coached and trained with him in basketball, and i was told long before these sought of threads surfaced, that he is indeed quite a cocky and very self confident athlete. Not in a way that you want to punch the kid in the face, more along the lines of he is good and he knows it.

Dees to host 1 Friday night game next year
Jerry Lundergard replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think our two games before that were a draw and a close win, but prior to that we hadn't won down there since the 80's. -
If he doesn't want to go to Sydney, why would he go into the PSD where he could find himself in the West or SA? I am pretty confident he will re-sign if a reasonable deal is not done.

What about Green to the Pies with pick 17. We get back 11 and 29? That will give us 1, 11, 19, 29 & 35.
-
For all we know, there may be a deal struck between Green and the MFC that they will try and broker a deal for him that benefits both him and the club, but if the club can't secure a fair deal, then maybe Green has agreed to sign the contract we have put to him.
-
I'd prefer to send Green into the PSD and let him get picked up by WCE, FREO or PORT, than hand him over to the Pies for pick 29.

It's probably been mentioned elsewhere but is there any chance of O'Keefe to Hawks Green to Swans Pick 16 to Demons?

Jack Watts - Confirmed #1 Pick in 2008 Draft - Booyah!!!
Jerry Lundergard replied to Tex's topic in Melbourne Demons
For those who may have missed it, on SEN's lunchtime program they had one of the testers from the draft camp who does all the pysch testing in terms of decision making (quickness of mind, correct decisions and competetive decision making), and when asked who was the standout of the camp, guess which name he mentioned? Our boy Jack Watts of course. Not only a gun athlete, but seems to also have all the boxes ticked mentally as well. Was there ever a surer bet than the Demons picking up Watts at No.1? -
Do you think we ever really leave it? i never seem to.

I'd be disappointed if Garland couldn't crack top 10. One of our few players who regulary beat or broke even with direct(and dangerous) opponents this season. In my eyes the top 5 would be, 1. Brad Green 2. Cam Bruce 3. Paul Wheatley 4. Brock Mclean 5. Col Garland

They are all in Canberra for the draft camp Jarka.

Demonland send YM to bigfooty for a bag of stale chips.

And then you woke up......

It's interesting that last time there were three players that stood above the rest in a draft was 2001. Everyone thought that the Hawks had got it wrong for a few years because Hodge took some time, while Judd was a superstar straight away, and the Saints when Ball started playing were on the verge of a premiership. Hopefully our recruiting team can't get it wrong here, and all three players will eventually become great players in winning teams.

Barracking for Dorks or Pussies on Saturday?
Jerry Lundergard replied to maximum bob's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sorry to buck the trend here, but i am hoping for a Hawks win. Cats supporters have gone from hopeful last year, to just down right arrogant this year. Same thing will happen with the Hawks next year if they win, and then i'll be hoping they lose. -

So a 17 year old kid who wins the best player at the U/18 championship, and who grew up playing basketball as his first choice sport doesn't have much potential....... -

So would you say that the Bulldogs and Tigers in taking Griffen and Tambling, thought they were taking the best players instead of possibly filling a key forward postion with Franklin? I'm not having a dig at your post, just pointing out that if you went through the drafts history, there would be many cases you could find in which to argue on which side of the fence you sit in regards to drafting stratedgy. -
You're a quick learner. Glad to have you on board.
