  1. What you did not say was that we are not pursueing China for members but for sponsors as Chinese firms use us as a springboard into the USA and Europe (such as LG did some years ago. p.s. the other venue is the Leighoak
  2. Very disappointed that the Club song was not sung (both verses) and that it was not initiated from the stage!
  3. I would be happy to see Collingwood and Hawthorn move and be replaced by the Doggies and Kangaroos! That would make for a more equitable competition!
  4. Frankly i am more worried that the Demons are still forced to play a home game at Etihad. If Carlton come to the "G" they should be offered our Sunday twilight timespot and reprogram us for Friday nights and Saturday games like we used to enjy. After all, we started life as the MCCFC!
  5. Cheating by have drub ehanced players did not seem to help them as they were the only Melbourne-based team that we beat last year. Maybe more teams should be encouraged to give their players drugs?
  6. I cannot beleive that you have posted such a negative post at the onset of the season, especially one giving your opinion that it will be the end of Mark Neeld. Obviously you have not bothered to read any of the training reports or given any thought to the fact that there is a completley new team running out onto the "G"
  7. Comparing Darwin and the NT unfavourably against Hobart and Tassie on the basis of populations loses credibility when you consider that Darwin is the gateway to hundreds of Millions of Asian neighbours and Hobart is the gateway to Antarctica and a couple of hundred thousand penguins!
  8. Frankly I see our big latent market in the millions who hate Collingwood with a passion. Surely they should then be logically convinced fervent MFC supporters as we are the traditional rivals form the 1950s-early 1960s and the only Club that had their measure.
  9. What about having Danny Hughes played as full forward one time and watching him line up in front of goal? Fortunately he missed which would of otherwise have put a blemish on his illustrious 0-goal football career.
  10. For a view on Tom Scully and his integrity (as mentioned above), Jim Stynes My Journey should be compulsory reading for all D'landers.
  11. Was Jack Watts relocation to the backline longterm tanking?
  12. I like your rationale DDD even if you have left out the co-captain and Sylvia. I was thinking of M. Jones myself, especially as he is a bit bigger than some of the others which will come in handy. Who did you have in mind for the fourth interchange?
  13. I cannot beleive that discussion about the posters getting off the thread to talk about Gysberts are themselves filling up a whole page. Can somebody else post some info about training on Friday which is what I opened it to seek?
  14. A good bloke to crumb Dawes, Clark & Pederson, he has good football smarts and is a good kick. I would be pleased to see him in the forward pocket at round 1.
  15. At last a report on training! Thank you RR: well done!
  16. Well at least we all gained something out of four pages of comprehensive training report: Dean Terlich was injured but he is now OK!
  17. Could be worse and not sure whether back/neck injuries can recover quicker than a cruciate etc? Let's hope that he does not make it to the long-term injury list.
  18. Well the 3AW 'Rumour File' host, Ross Camp[bell (aka Stephenson) announced this morning that tanking charges were to be laid today by the AFL. If true, the game begins in ernest now!
  19. I think that he is a lock because he is part on the leadership team for a reason. Already Trengove is touch and go for Round 1 so I expect that they will try to play our leadership team each week otherwise it tends to defeat the purpose of appointing them, albeit that Humphrey is not the most vocal of the group.
  20. Frankly I am not sold on Richmond but pleased to have them make the eight as I predict that we will finish ahead of them this year!
  21. Can we now return to the topic guys (which is Dom Barry)?
  22. I also wouldn't rule out co-captain Jack Trengove as I thought the plan was to time his return then.
  23. Another hypothetical "what if" for round 1 (assuming all players fit). it should make for very interesting intraclub practice matches (and/or a strong Scorpions side): Backline: Jetta, Frawley, Garland vs. Forwardline: Bail, Fitzpatrick, Strauss Half-Backline: Dunn, T. McDonald, Watts vs. Half-Forwardline: Kent, Hogan, Spencer Centreline: Sylvia, Grimes, Trengrove vs. Centreline: Evans, Tapscott, Barry Half-Forwardline: Pederson, Clark, Howe vs. Half-Backline: Gillies, J MacDonald, Davis Forwardline: Blease, Dawes, Byrnes vs. Backline: Terlich, Sellar, Nicholson Followers: Jamar, N. Jones, Viney Interchange: Davey, Toumpas, McKenzie Substitute: Rodan vs Followers: Gawn, Magner, M. Jones Interchange: Couch, Tynan, Clisby Substitute: Stark
