  1. The reality bus is that we have much more depth (i.e. try picking a best 22 and see how hard it is to decide between options) and once Dawes, Clark and Trengrove are back up, fewer injuries to date. There is no excuse for a bad year and no excuse for a start like 2012. Last year we had a good draw and this year is better (gate takings aside). If we can't get into the eight (i.e. by beating Port Adelaide in the first round) and then stay there with our draw, there is little that Neeld or any other coach can do. This is the make or break year!
  2. Rather than poach Eddie, I would rather see us poach some of their sponsors (or Carlton's)!
  3. Maybe our much-touted former No. 4 draft pick will finally prove that he is worth his salt? Certainly he posseses silky skills (like Travis) if he only learnt to go in harder. It will be interesting to see, however I am loathe to make a prediction either way!
  4. I too was troubled about Roden but reading the reports from Darwin and our training sessions, i think that it was a good decision. I am hopeful that each of our recycled newcomers will make a positive contribution (however i do recall have the same optimism about Leigh Williams and Jai Sheehan, neither of whom played a match.)
  5. At least he bought our attention to the fact that the MFC is updating the website and still giving us news during the holiday period. It is too easy to forget that it was posted on the Club website on New Year's Day!
  6. Good to see these updates. Hopefully when they get through the list, including the rookies, they will start again from Hogan. Be nice to see these reports daily right up to the NAB Cup.
  7. Great to see the MFC posting on the first day of the year (and a public holiday). Let us hope that the updates on the team continue right through the off-season. I am starting to get impatient already for 2014 to see Hogan lining up in our forward line with Clark, Dawes and Howe.
  8. Looks like nobody has mentioned Gysberts and Petterd after the opening post! Interesting!
  9. If Steph Martin thrives then it will be because Moloney will make him look good as he has something more to prove (last year was an aberration)! I also feel that Rivers will also prove to be a more than adquate replacement for Scarlett!
  10. So many Demonland posts suggest that the actions of the boys deserves the column lines allocated in the press. Nobody is arguing against going to the cricket in your holidays, nor having a few beers with mates. It is all about the poor judgement displayed in positioning yourself in the middle of Bay 13 where the cameras are trained to beam salacious footage around the British Commonwealth on the biggest day in the cricket calendar. The fact that they showed the immaturity to not only choose Bay 13 for a 'quiet little drink' but to get sucked in by surrounding yobbos (Collingwood supporters?) put the Club's recent improved profile back just a tad and I suspect has created a dilemma in regards to re-appointing Frawley to the leadership group (not withstanding his on-field honours in this area). It's not over yet!
  11. A stellar season for the Dees (Finals) and the Scorpions (Premiership) lies ahead!
  12. Like the idea of Melbourne sneaking into the eight but not sure that I like Hawthorn and Collingwood being No. 1 and No. 2! My wish for 2013 is that Melbourne becomes the first team to take off a Premiership from eighth spot!
  13. Why do we have to play home games at Etihad? Does Collingwood?

  14. I'm with Belzebub on this one. It is not the same as letting off steam with your mates whilst on Hols; it is positioning yourself in a very public place (our home ground) in an area (Bay 13) where most cameras are focussed on the biggest day of the cricket calendar and then not holding your alcohol very well. I suggest that it displays pretty poor judgement from a member of the leadership team (Frawley), a popular senior player (Dunn) and a high profile (mark of the year) player. Blind Freddy could see that they were setting themselves up!
  15. I am worried about the use of a crystal ball. Being of Celtic background, I would prefer something more tried and tested such as rune stones!
  16. Its was alll started by a Richmond player (Ricky Petterd) and our innocent players and Geelong's Rivers got sucked in! One wonders whether Frawley is trying to exit himself from the leadership group though?
  17. By the way, thanks for all the work that you put in!
  18. How is the MCC Royal Tennis team going?
  19. Any chance to recognising daylight saving time on the site. (I am presuming that it is not being administered out of Queensland!)
  20. He may have been born in Scotland but he was playing for Kerry when we recruited him as the first player in 'the Irish experiment'!
  21. If you look at the rule above and also the list of the persons under scrutiny you will not that neither Connolly of Schwab fall within the definition of the rule. If neither Schwab nor Connolly are in breach of the rules, I suggest that the AFL would be hard-pressed to mount a successful case against Bailey alone particular when he has not been with the MFC since mid 2011 and we actually sacked him for losing which is the very thing that he is alleged to have been guilty of! I don't think that anybody presently at Melbourne has any case to answer under the above rule unless they want to make Josh Mahoney (Football Manager) a scapegoat on the basis that he had a coaching role back then.
  22. I gather that you have forgotten about Sean Wight?
