Jack Watts signs for three years (21/7/16)
Demon Jack replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I reckon he'll have a strong finish to the season and make a sneaky push towards the best and fairest. Gawn or Viney will be hard to topple but Watts won't be too far behind. -
Surely Hunt Deserves a Rising Star Nomination

Mills this week. -
Wouldn't want to be Mitch right now considering his contract is about to expire. He looked absolutely cooked on the weekend and this certainly won't help his cause.

Bombers about to put the sword to St Kilda. Continues the trend of the Demons playing teams on the rebound...yay.
-
Still think he's capable of going a level further (such as in tonight's game) on a more regular basis. Saying that, he's still booted 20+ goals this year and has been a more than solid addition to the half forward line. Hope we resign him soon.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Demon Jack replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
Has had a tremendous month or so. Hope he's just realised that Freo are going nowhere anytime soon. -
Well and truely earned his hundredth next week. Best of luck Grimesy.

6. T.McDonald (His best game of the year. Intercept and contested marking as well as his disposal were up a notch tonight) 5. Hogan (Always dangerous and our most likely option to score. Did some nice work up the ground as well) 4. Watts (Set up the win in his three first quarter with his three goals. Shame he couldn't kick a couple more but he showed more than enough to suggest that this the new Jack Watts that we'll be seeing on a more frequent basis) 3. N.Jones (Typical Jones game. Thirty odd touches, put his head in and kicked a great goal. Having another stellar season) 2. Hunt (Had a couple of scary moments but his first half was absolutely fantastic. A Rising Star nomination beckons) 1. Jetta (Racked up a career high 26 disposals while keeping Ballentyne relatively quiet. Wished he converted in the last quarter)

ETA 6 hours, 30 minutes and 46 seconds until Demonland meltdown. God I hope we win this one. I think we will but I can't help but have that feeling of uncertainty. I desperately want to convince myself that the days of losing as favourites are over but you can never be sure. Regardless, Dees by 26

How good is Dean Rampe?

Really excited to see White back in the seniors. It seemed like that he had vanished off the face of the earth earlier in the season.
-
Very dull game. Just another foreshadowing of the inevitability of 'Fourthorn'....shudder.

I remember watching him play in the seniors a couple years ago and he looked very dangerous as a forward option. Saying that, reviews of his performances this season seem to show that he is way off the mark at the moment. http://www.aflplayerratings.com.au/Ratings/Player/114802/Nathan-VARDY If he regains some touch by the end of the year then he may not be the worst option. Wouldn't give him any more than a spot on the rookie list though.

I'll admit, I was one of the nay-sayers who was sceptical of Hunt at the end of last season. He was injured, couldn't piece together a solid block of football and just seemed like he wasn't going anywhere. Today, I couldn't be happier to be proven wrong. He has completely changed the look of the team with his blistering pace and decision making. Never before have I seen one player turn an average one paced team into one that all of a sudden has a bit of pace and flair. Absolutely no words...

6. Watts (Easily in his top 5-6 performances for the club) 5. N.Jones (Skipper simply being the skipper) 4. Garlett (What a return!) 3. Hunt (This kid can seriously play. Would love to see him push into the midfield more) 2. TMac (Had it all to do in our back 50 and did very well. Reminiscent of his early 2015 form) 1. Jetta (Always beat his man or at least broke even) Honourable mentions to Stretch and Harmes who really impressed me on return.

Should slot right back into our backline when the 2024 season comes along.
-
Already 10 games into what I think will be a long career with the Demons. I love what he's been doing this year. Would like to see him pick up a rising star nomination by years end.

6. Watts 5. Hunt 4. Vince 3. Petracca 2. Wagner 1. N.Jones

Certainly a nostalgic reminder to the 2013/14 days when we would continuously kick only 4-5 goals every second week. Although I thought we were a sneaky chance during the week, it was always going to require a huge effort to topple the Swans, with or without rain. Plenty to like with Petracca, Wagner and Hunt and full credit to Watts and Gawn for trying their guts out, but no cigar today.

Hogan goals...yay.
-
Trengove with 4 tackles halfway through the first quarter.

Petracca! First goal demons!

http://m.melbournefc.com.au/news/2016-06-17/kennedyharris-injures-hamstring-again I seriously feel for Jay. He's had an awful run of injuries so far this year.

Righto, where to begin? Started the game on the bottom level of the MCC with a North Melbourne mate of mine where we most unfortunate to have the most annoying and deafening Collingwood supporter (could be a tautology) in the form of a 10 year old boy. Safe to say that it didn't take us long to come to our senses and relocate in the hopes of protecting our hearing. Overall, the first quarter was certainly not something that warrants reviewing. At one stage, I looked at the big screen and was staggered to find that Bernie had accumulated 12 possessions in the opening 15 minutes. Unfortunately, many of them left a bit to be desired. I loved Viney's goal (despite the fact I had a fiver on Watts to bag the first), but we continuously went about finding new and inventive ways of turning the ball over in our forward 50. My mate and I then spent the next three quarters on the top deck around the Midfielders Bar. During the second quarter, It began apparent to us that Max Gawn was on a completely different level to anyone around him. Undoubtably one of the best individual quarters I've ever seen. I couldn't help but feel immensely proud of Trenners when he bagged his goal. He has no doubt proven that he still a valuable player. Once Hogan bagged his second while sporting a newfound 'Andre the Giant' appearance, nipple and all, it had appeared we had flicked the switch and were beginning to put the Collie Wobbles to the sword. Christian Petracca's goal was seriously something else. 7 games....scary. Ill be honest and say I didn't pay much attention during the third quarter. My mate and I ran into some friends and spent most of the quarter catching up over a pint. My eyes wondered to the television above the bar occasionally where I eventually caught Nathan Jones bagging a set shot. Celebrations ensured. The final quarter (minus a Collingwood goal in the opening minute) was delightful viewing. Loved watching Wattsy kick a couple to firmly put the ghosts of his Queens Birthday debut to rest. Overall, I couldn't be prouder of our Demons. Bring on the Swans Other observations No passengers today. Everyone had a moment of brilliance that justified their selection. Max Gawn continues to set the bar. He's been in unbelievable form this year. The fact he kicks goals and plays like a midfielder highlight how dangerous he is. An All-Australia gurney surely beckons. He might be knocking on the door of the Brownlow as well. Vince, Jones and Tyson accumulated around 100 possessions between them. While on the topic of midfield dominance, Jack Viney is a serious freak. 30 odd possessions with a busted knuckle. Dean Kent, Oscar McDonald and Ben Kennedy all without a doubt played their best games for the club. Frost in defence! Funnily enough, it works incredibly well. He'll make the odd mistake but in most cases, I feel safe when the ball is in his hands. He has such an imposing figure as well.
