AFLW: Rd 07 vs Adelaide
Kate Hore 75 games ๐๐๐โค๏ธ๐ Sinead Taylor 50 games ๐๐๐โค๏ธ๐ A momentous win to celebrate Stinnear has changed the game style. Win the contest. Gain territory. Go again. Tackle. Pressure. The multi handball over possession game is hopefully put in the bin.

Kate Hore - 5 Stars
https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/301392/hore-joins-melbourne-as-aflw-rookie MFC is so blessed to have Kate Hore. Keep Kate for life. What a captain. What a captain. Sheโs a beautiful person on and off field. Her drive to succeed and her leadership is motivating the under strength Dees. ๐๐๐

2025 Team Round 1
@WERRIDEEMcAdam in for round 1. Thatโs optimistic. Hopefully he has a big preseason and proves some value. Our โfuture 2nd buyโ (2024 draft) for him appears to have been way overs for an injury plagued 29year old 50 gamer.

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Good write up. I found some of the โbest traits similar toโ part quite interesting. Some I agree. Others not so. Murphy Reid โฆ similar to Gryan Miers. No. Thatโs not correct in my view. Miers is a small forward scrubber who specializes in goal assists. Murphy Reid is an accumulation mid with quick hands and smart decisions. If he builds up, he could be more the Lachie Neale type who seemingly is creative and before you know it he has 20 possessions. Thanks @Supreme_Demon

2025 Team Round 1
Given we are not bringing in any free agents or trading for any established playersโฆ our best team for 2025 B: McVee May T.Mac HB: Rivers Lever Bowey C: Langdon Viney Windsor HF: Throlstrup Petty Chandler F: Pickett* JVR Fritsch Ru: Gawn Oliver Petracca Int: Turner, Sparrow, Salem, Howes depth: backs ANW, Hore, Adams, K.Brown depth: mids Laurie, Billings, Woewodin depth: forwards Melksham, McAdam, Spargo*, Jefferson, Fullarton, Sestan, Kentfield depth: ruck T.Campbell, Verrall draft picks - TBC (+6) itโs a good draft so hopefully we get some young guns to add to the squad * Pickett suspended for 1st three matches of 2025 so Spargo if fit gets the nod

NON-MFC: Trade Talk
Anyone monitoring the Pies salary cap. Pendles, Howe, Sidebottom, Cox Etc still going around and would on decent contracts Whilst Adams walked last year, the only player who left from their best 22 from the premiership team was Murphy. And now departures are only Noble (again a former mid season rookie on limited $$) & Joe Richards would again be on minimum type contract Over past 2 years adding in serious $$$s for Tom Mitchell, Bobby Hill, Mcstay, Schultz, โฆ now Perryman and now right in the frame for Houston. Lots of youngsters also on rising $$$ too like the Daicos boys and quaynor. I know the salary cap is going up and up, but whilst the Dees have stagnated, Pies appear to be picking up more and more players on serious $$ as additions without much going out. ๐ญ๐ญ

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 5
I agree @Young Blood this is the consistently named likely top 5 (excluding Ashcroft and Lombard of course). Dees pick โ5โ is well positioned to grab one. They are all evenly ranked in my view between 1-5 so having pick 1,2,3,4 or 5 is evened up in my view. Dees happy with any of them but Lalor would be a certainty imv if available at our pick.

Trade Targets
The updateโฆ Tom Campbell - delisted free agent โฆ 32yo VFL ruckman. Signed up 4/10/24 ๐ค Wade Derksen - 2 1/2 yrs with GWS. Zero games. Nominated the Dees but GWS standing firm saying no trade ๐คฌ James Peatling from GWS to the Crows. Dees one of five interested clubs (missed out) ๐ฅต Dan Houston - originally planning a move to the Dees then all the dramas at MFC seemingly killed that move. Houston said committed to Port. Houston move then back in to Vic โฆ Kangas, filthy Pies and arrogant Blues in the race (Dees to miss out) ๐คฎ Matt Owies - Dees originally linked but seems to have cooled. Media reporting his salary is high at >$600k. (We should pass on this) ๐๐ป Clayton Oliver potential move to Cats gets media filth bags all excited. Pert reportedly shopping Clarry around. Tim Lamb says never was on the cards despite Clarrys farm visit!! (Relief) All quiet on MFC showing any interest in Brandon Parfitt. ๐ค๐ค๐ค โ๐ญANB returned home to Adelaide for pick โ28โ

Club in crisis - Media pile on - August 2024
Add Baum ๐ฉ [censored] article โฆ why reference Oliver. The title is a joke. Theres lots of other examples of messy trade talk and other examples this year. MFC IS always a soft target. A lot of NRL fans and insiders hate the open ability for players to sign for other clubs 12 months ahead. Itโs a horrible scenario having to develop a player but then know in 12 months that they are off to your competition. Youโd rather a player committed to your team. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/melbourne-s-poor-handling-of-oliver-has-turned-the-trade-window-into-a-peep-show-20241007-p5kghu.html

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Agreed. @Nascent @Pennant St Dee like Judd McVee a few years ago, Cody could be late pick that really develops. Heโs got the pace, skills and smarts. I think heโs probably 4th round or a rookie pick. I had him at 68 in my phantom draft (Sept 19th). Hope he gets a spot on a list.
-
Dan Houston
Itโs really disappointing. Dees had him interested and it was likely we were his preferred destination. Now heโs off to probably either the filthy Pies or the arrogant Blues. FFS. This whole Petracca & Oliver mess has caused us damage. Itโs a mess !!!

MFC 2024 BEST & FAIREST NIGHT
Last 9 years. The four musketeers have dominated our B&F. Clarry x4 Gawn x 2 Petracca x 2 Viney x 2 (Gawn and Oliver tied in 2019) they are surely all going to be listed amongst our very best players ever hope we can resolve the issues with Clarry and Trac over the next 12 months
-
MFC 2024 BEST & FAIREST NIGHT
Rivers. McVee. Chandler. 6th. 7th. 8th. A few votes only lower than Ed. Add them into the mix and our average drops !!! This top 5 average age is not a damning stat for MFC.

MFC MARK OF THE YEAR 2024
Unanimous win for Kozzzzy this year. A very thin field for marks this year.
