I think Chandler should be sub this week Lever May McVee Bowey Tmcd Salem Langdon Rivers Windsor Anb JVR Kolt Pickett Fritsch Turner Gawn Oliver Viney Sparrow AMW Woey Melksham SUB. Chandler 1. Please not Woey as Sub. Give him a chance 2. Eagles gave us a bath last time. With virtually their same team yet we’re missing Trac now. 3. Goody. Memo. Tell the players NOT to kick it high in the forward line to Barrass and McGovern, really!!! 4. Man up versus Reid. I mean MAN UP. DONT LET A 19 YEAR OLD KID BULLY YOU!!! FFS 5. a goal in the last quarter … perhaps more. Perhaps 5 or 6!!! JUST WIN IT

Tomlinson will definitely leave at the end of this year. He constantly gets shafted in our selections. Clubs wanting a big tall defender (like the Kangas and Tigers) will chase and offer him a contract in my opinion.

Jack Silvagni ❌❌❌ Rory Lobb ❌❌❌ Angus Sheldrick ✅ Deven Robertson ✅

I’m still casting an eye over team lists. Angus Sheldrick from the Swans in the one. A few injuries has again stalled his season. But in his games last year at the Swans, he showed his high quality. Only 21/22yo and has excellent skills and competitive nature on the contest. Hard to shake loose from the swans but a good contract deal might help. Even if it’s not this year, make sure his manager knows we’re interested in a good start.

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
spirit of norm smith replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
After the Vic metro v SA under 18 match on the weekend, I will add Murphy Reid to this midfielder list, perhaps looking that he would be around pick 20 or 21. Dees should try to get say the eagles 2nd round 2024 pick to get him … and offer up our MFC next years 2025 first round with other pick swaps too. -
Good to get more players back and competing for spots. Melksham back is great news. He knows how to kick a goal and accurately too !!! 👏👏👏
-
Cummings’ got the skill and competitiveness that would add to our team. He is a good player. However not sure where he plays for MFC as he is a running defender. We have plenty of half backs already. I’m looking at young mids either through the trade or draft.

Brownlow votes 2024 progress thread
spirit of norm smith replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
V Brisbane Lions. Given the unfortunate loss, likely it’s 3 Dunkley 2 Pickett 1 McCluggage. JV7 could get a vote as he had another excellent game. Still guys like Daicos, Heeney, Cripps, Bont and Merrett are favourites this year at this stage. -
Christian Salem - Elite or Good Ordinary
spirit of norm smith replied to Cranky Franky's topic in Melbourne Demons
Salem had a sensational 2021. Otherwise he’s been good. Not very good and not elite. He is good. His disposal is supposed to be elite. It’s often an up and under rainmaker. His disposal efficiently is 15 metres sideways. I like to see him kick drive the footy longer & lower. -
Eagles will fancy themselves. Reid will fancy again being a 19 year old bullying players nearly 10 years more mature. Dees have to be ruthless. Hard to imagine. This has to be a 8+ goal win. Otherwise it’s poor. We have to hammer them.

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Absolutely. I think this year has some very good talent down to at least picks 35-40. -
2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Vic country v WA. Both Harvey Langford and Cooper Hynes had great games and I’d be happy to have both onboard with MFC next year. They offer good mix of Langford ball winning and skill, and Hynes with competitive Cripps like midfielder (aggressive). Add in with an elite mid like Moraes, Draper or Gross. -
Looking at recruiting players that can KICK A GOAL IN THE LAST QUARTER it’s a skill needed in MFC players !!! FFS

CASEY: Rd 14 vs Northern Bullants
spirit of norm smith replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Youngsters 🤨🤨Adams developing slowly. Not sure he’s the future after May retires. 👍🏻Sestan. I still think he gets a debut later this year. He knows HOW to kick a goal 👍🏻Jeffo needs a preseason in the gym but should be ready to start 2025 in the MFC team Billings. No no no delist imv … VFL is his level Laurie. No no no delist imv (why did we extend his contract) VFL is his level Fullarton. Not great conditions but has agility 50:50 on him McAdam is a real weapon at VFL level but needs seriously a big fitness run to be AFL competent. Not sure he was worth getting at this time. 29 year old Injury plagued career -
ANW. MCVEE. RIVERS. JVR. KOZZY. THROLSTRUP. WINDSOR. All are part of our future.

spirit of norm smith replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons

Well well well. I called for his promotion for many many weeks. He had an excellent debut. WELL PLAYED YOUNG MAN. He must stay in.

This loss really hurt. REALLY HURT. I was praying that we’d cause the upset and defy the feral Brisbane crowd. We had them. We stopped. We needed to kick a goal in the last quarter. How did we go from 9.5 to 11.15. FFS. Needed to get Zorko back. Now they have beaten us twice this year. Hurts. Really hurts. Really hurts !!

Can we nominate some likely players Return to Vic ?? Players squeezed out of their teams best 22? Players who might need a fresh start? Players seeking long term contract of 3+ years? Free agents? I’d like to nominate Angus Sheldrick. He’s shown high quality ability but had injury concerns. Still only 21. Swans have stacked midfield and we could offer a bright future position.

Are we witnessing a re-build by stealth
spirit of norm smith replied to Salems Lot's topic in Melbourne Demons
We lost Hibbo. We lost depth players in Baker, Harmes, Dunstan. Jackson returned home to WA Jordon left on free agency We quickly and strangely traded Grundy out. We lost Brayshaw. Js29 is suspended pending investigations Thats a lot of premiership team and depth lost in just over 2 years Plus mature recruits of Schache, Hunter, Fullerton, Billings, McAdam are not of the prior quality brought in (Lever, May, Melksham, Hibbo, Langdon, Brown) Rebuild on the run? Yes. McVee and JVR have cemented themselves. 2023 draftee Windsor. Throlstrup. Pup Brown. All have debuted. AMW gets his chance Will develop Adams, Jefferson and Kentfield as key position types. Lots of opportunities for the youngsters. AND HOPEFULLY JT HEARS THE CALL TO ADD 2-3 HIGH QUALITY MIDS IN THIS YEARS DRAFT
