2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Jagga Smith is likely to be the number 1 now. Was a standout today v Rebels. Heās only knock is size but guys like Sam Walsh show that movement and gut running makes up for that.

Coates Talent League 2024
Stingrays outclassed today. Hard to match the mids of the Dragons. āļøHarvey Langford. Again showed heās going to be pick 1-5. Very good overhead. Wins contested footy. Kicks 50 metre easily. Reminds us of the Bont. Only knock is heās defensive game. Zero tackles. Didnāt look interested in working hard without the footy. Such talented youngsters need that ability too. (Funny moment. Commentator saying he is ā likely to be drafted top 40, in fact top 30 or probably top 20ā⦠touch of the Kelli underwood callsā¦!!!). āļøCooper Hynes. Tough day but is a hard worker in close. Tackled strongly. Will be early second round pick. Dees might be a very interested team. šHarrison Doughton. Iāve seen him 4 or 5 times now and he has impressed. Mid sized onballer. Tough day versus dragons elite but he held his own. Good decisions. Competed hard even though overwhelmed.

Coates Talent League 2024
Wow. Dragons simply too good. Too many stars. Midfield stacked with young guns. āļøLevi Ashcroft (32 possessions) will be pick 1 or 2. Lions are so lucky. āļøMurphy Reid. Reminds me of Lachie Neale. Smart player. Quick hands. Kicking was better today. āļøSam Marshall. Another Lions academy player. Definitely top 20 pick. He has that smooth ruck rover midfielder style. šNat Sulzberger. Tassie boy. Matched it with his peers. Taller mid. Tough in the contest and had good skills. Won the inside footy and distributed. šLuke Kennedy. In my view, one of the most underrated young players. Plays like Andrew Brayshaw. Gets the footy. Tidy skills and good overhead. Covers the ground. šHarry Oliver. If you want a tough skilled half back, then Oliver answers the brief. Reminds of Nic Newman type. Excellent skills and competes hard. Will be top 25 pick. Likely around 23-27. šBailey Mackenzie. 6 goals. Smooth versatile half forward/forward. Like Bailey Fritsch, he knows how to kick a goal. Will likely be a bargain pickup around the 4th round selection. šHarry Armstrong. Only the one goal but heās already shown heās going to be a very good player. I think heās still a 12-15 draft pick and will go 1st round for sure. * whilst not eligible this year, Jack Dalton again showed his class as a left foot wing/mid. His delivery into the forwards was excellent. Will be closely watched next year as he moves into a central mid position.

Trade Targets
Heās definitely going to be a player. Heās had 3 years in the system and bulking out. At 21yo, now heās in line behind Omac (30) and heās gone past Fort. Smith debuted this year. Contracted to 2026. Lions wouldnāt be letting him go. Heās better than Verrall or Fullarton imv.

Trade Targets
There has been a few but I would agree that 90% end up being delisted again the next season for a second or sometimes a third time!!!

NON-MFC: Semi Finals
Problem is they were the number 1 team after round 8 for the year. And they have no retirements and a lot of young players on the upwards trajectory. Itās hurting because we all still HATE THE HAWKS

Agree with Riccardi. Itās a shame we could not grab him when he was starrung in the VFL. There is plenty of absolute āyesā players to be named. Could name a dozen more easily. Of course their contract status (contracted) and then attracting them is the issue. Even out of contract players are not attracted to MFC now. Thats what makes the Tom Barrass switch to the Hawks so interesting. Heās contracted at eagles until 2027 yet the hawks are now likely to get him in for next year. They must have a big $$$ contract and long term contract in his face.
