We need to wear our normal jumper this week
homsar replied to Great Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think we should wear a jumper covered in spikes and slime so no one can tackle us. -
Exactly. Salem is just rattling off a few names that came to mind. Going through the motions.

Steve’s kicking will be fine once he gets some continuity back. He’s a gun. Same with Salem. This won’t be a popular view, given the guy is in AA form, but we need to get Brayshaw out of the backline. I love him. Courageous, reads the game, great overhead. But his kicking is dangerous (to us) coming out of our backline. When he kicks like that into our forward line it has less of an impact (if our forward pressure is up to scratch) but in the backline it creates re-entries into our defensive 50. Our back 7 last year were all fantastic, consistent, kicks. I really think we need to get back to this. Get brayshaw back on the wing. We could do with another grown up in the midfield. Love JJ but he still has a lot to learn.

Lol... who is "releasing" this rumour?

Who cares? The guy is a moron who thinks he is original and bucking the trend when in fact he is a walking cliche. Good player though. He’s just played around with some coke. Big deal… hardly hurt anyone else with it other than being a “role model”. What Steve May did was much worse in my book, but I fully trust he will be back better than ever and put it behind him. And Steve May is an incredible player.

Well. I’m not panicking as much as you all. That was a 50/50 game just like the swannies game last year. A few umpiring decisions change and so does the result. We are 10-2 and have a lot of improving to come. In: the best defender in the comp, a Salem and Harmes with a game under their belt Out: poor old Tomo We will beat the Pies by our usual 2-3 goals. Hope you lot turn up to the game.

Am I understanding this correctly, you don’t think Salem is a good kick? Don’t think you’ll have too many agreements with that analysis. Salem is a must in our D50. He is smooth, cool, clean, and a smart user. On top of that he is as hard as nails, very strong one on one, and tackles hard. This is such a unique combination of skills, and I believe he is the perfect small defender. Put Brayshaw back to the wing. Jordon has been brave there but isn’t clean enough below his knees or overhead in my opinion. Brayshaw defends very well from the backline or the wing, and also offers more attacking flare. I like Jordon but Brayshaw is a miles better footballer at this stage of their careers.

“F you Melbourne”? Seriously? You’re talking about the best team in the comp who are playing exactly the same way we did to start last year? And we are 4-0? Muppet.

I don’t get how anyone could think of leaving to “have a crack at a Brownlow” vs stay to try win another premiership with your best mates. I know which one I’d choose. If it comes down to money, that is a different thing. I think the wing suits him, now he has warmed to it. He has a good overhead game. His kicking can be hit and miss but generally makes good decisions. He’s brave as anything and is a good inside/outside mix. He’s not explosive enough to challenge our current centre square crop, but saying he’s “just a role player” down plays his very real physical and mental attributes. He’s a gun, and a team man, and worth some coin.

We have a lot of room to improve. However, our only three losses so far have been against teams essentially treating it like their grand final. And in at least two of those, with a bit of luck, we still could have won. Ball use inside fifty needs to improve A LOT but the system that has gotten us to top 2 on the ladder is still there. I wouldn’t say I’m confident we will turn it around. MFCSS. But I don’t think it is time to panic. It will be a disaster if we finish outside the top four now though, which is a genuine possibility.

I was there when the cheese platter thing started, my mate brought the platter. Absolutely hilarious. Who gives a fig what any of these idiots think. Every club has these stereotypes and ours aren’t as bad as some.
-
Totally disagree. Brayshaw was brave in the air and has made smart decisions all year. TMac can kick it anywhere and has the turning circle of the Spirit of Tasmania.

Median wage would be a lot more useful for this discussion than average. No idea how to find that!

Not a key forward but I hope Hannan can get an injury free run, I love the guy, great goal sense.

I’m actually not going to watch footy again this year. Cannot be [censored].

Geez some people on the site talk absolute rot.

I emailed the club last year basically saying that I want to spend the money to support them, but I literally can’t see any benefit - I thought I was missing something...

You do get something for the memberships: access to buy tickets to away finals. As much of a disaster as the WC prelim was last year, I wouldn’t have been able to go without the dual membership. For the life of me I can’t work out the advantage of the “premium” add on though.

Internal options for a speedy winger

Hogan? ? -
Exactly why I'd hate to lose him. Can't see that pick helping us out if Viney and Oliver go down.

Jordan Lewis is absolutely cooked, never pick him again

Anyone want to access business lounge qantas in Perth tonight let me know. I’ll be doing my best to drain Perth of beer.
