Tom Green (Drafted by GWS Giants)
I think it's as simple as the Giants rate Jackson higher than Green, and they'd grab him if we did bid so they don't care.

The Splitting of Pick 8
Just saw Jay Clarks phantom draft and he is absolutely convinced we will be trading pick 8 but didn't go into to which team. and is equally convinced we'd be picking Luke Jackson at pick 3

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
Nor do i, but i'd like to see it happen. the NBA offers trading without the players permission at times and it's something i find enjoyable. would certainly help the bottom sides to become competitive faster.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
I'm amazed our response wouldn't be where do we sign? unless we have a particular player in mind who may not make it to pick 8, which is entirely possible. a combination of Jackson, Stephens and Pickett sounds very appealing.

10 and 22?

Phantom Drafts
I was chatting to a friend who supports Carlton and he was saying they're quite keen on Serong at pick 9. he said though there is pretty strong word that there may be some behavior/attitude concerns with him which is why he may slide a little bit, has anyone else heard this?

That's a good point, they have pick 40 i believe, i wonder if we will do something with that and get a pick earlier than 97 to go with 3, 8 in this years draft in exchange for not bidding on Green. I personally would love to see the live trading include players though, I think that would make the draft night live trading very exciting.

I assumed that's what you meant, i just don't see what we would get out of such a deal given the other guys are would want aren't going to slide far enough.

It's hard to see how that could benefit us given it's unlikely Young or Jackson would get through to pick 8 even if they passed on them. It is a strange one though, i just genuinely think they have someone in mind assuming Jackson, and they think he is better than Green so if we bid 3 they're happy for us to take him. otherwise they'll grab two players.

all the noise seems to be pointing to Jackson at 3. wondering if anyone has heard anything about who we might be keen on at pick 8?

Tom Green (Drafted by GWS Giants)
Knightmare saying on twitter if he was Melbourne he would be bidding on Green as he considers him on par with Rowell and Anderson and thinks the only reason the Giants wouldn't match is he's a surplus positionally to what they need, but i think the same is true for us as well.

Hayden Young (Drafted by Fremantle)
Too much. my preference at the moment is Young and Serong. Serong could help fill the need for a small forward and can rotate through the middle and Young improves our wing/half backs stocks.

Not at all impossible either. Crows want Stephens. Swans want Flanders and Dockers i think will pick Robertson. so it's really down to what the Giants do with pick 4. if Young gets past them i reckon we'll get him at 8. if not i'd say it'll be Lachie Ash

I wonder if the Giants would rate Jackson higher than Green? would they match a bid with pick 3? in any case, i doubt they would do this if they thought there was any real chance of us bidding.

Tom Green (Drafted by GWS Giants)
I wonder if there could potentially be a situation in play where the handshake deal effectively would be. we take Jackson 3 and don't bid on Green if they don't take Young and he potentially slides to 8 Crows are keen on Stephens at 6, Swans keen on Flanders and i suspect Dockers will grab Robertson. we may potentially get our 2 highest preferences out of this. Giants did have interest in Serong at one stage so surely they'd see him and Green as a great result.

our unwillingness to do that deal makes me think we've decieded to take Luke Jackson at 3. and the Giants think because of that theyre going to get Green and Young.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
Giants wouldn't do this without confidence we won't bid on Green IMO i suspect they'll be grabbing Luke Jackson at pick 4 if we go for Hayden Young.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
Pick 3 to the Dockers for picks 7 and 10 Melbourne draft 7. Jackson 8. Ash 10. Serong won't happens but sounds nice.

Phantom Drafts
My best guess at the top 10 Draft day trade - Crows pick 4 for Giants 6 and 2020 first. 1. Rowell - GCS 2. Anderson - GCS 3. Young - Melbourne 4. Jackson - Giants 5. Flanders - Swans 6. GWS - Green - Crows Bid. 7. Stephens - Crows 8. Robertson - Dockers 9. Serong - Melbourne 10. Ash - Blues
-
Hayden Young (Drafted by Fremantle)
I've changed my mind on that pick 3 about 45 times so far. but i think i've landed in my own mind on the preference on Young over Jackson and with pick 8 preference order of Jackson Serong Ash Flanders depending on who is there

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
Geez the Gawn/Jackson team up prospect is an exciting prospect. for me it's his forward prospects that is key to this. if Taylor thinks he can be a 40 -50 goal a year key forward, i say draft him at pick 3. and look at Ash or Serong at 8
-
What to do with what is now Pick 74?
I'd love to see us again have a really good look at the state leagues and get a mature age player. we've done pretty well so far with that approach. another Bailey Fritsch or Vanders for pick 97 would be a great result.
-
Hayden Young (Drafted by Fremantle)
I'm really torn on this one because i think the potential upside of Jackson is incredible. we could be looking at a 50 goal a year key forward, who takes the pressure off Tommy and a relief ruckman that allows us to dominate the ruck for entire games without letting up. given we are much better than a 17th team i see logic in rolling the dice there. my big concerns are, go home culture, using a pick 3 on an interestate player. i think he's gone before pick 8 and if we trade pick 3 i reckon the Giants grab him. Hayden Young is a player who immediately improves our side and offers multiple attributes we desperately need and is a young leader. but i think there are a lot more of this type around than Luke Jacksons. very glad i'm not the one who has to make the decision.
