Deven Robertson (Drafted by Brisbane)
He's got a decent burst of speed which i'm not sure the highlights really show. reminds me a lot of Jack Viney to be honest. someone you know who'd give you 110% every time he took the field.

Phantom Drafts
The only thing we really know is Jason Taylor has said. the three players we rate high enough for pick 3 are Luke Jackson, Hayden Young and Tom Green He said we wouldn't trade pick 8 unless we were 100% sure we'd get our guy at pick 10 so the conclusion i make is either we were never interested in Hayden Young from the start an he wasn't telling the truth or we are supremely confident he will get through to 10

Phantom Drafts
we don't generally leak this much either so i wouldn't be at all surprised if we went totally differently to what's been mocked.

Brodie Kemp (drafted by Carlton)
This guy looms as the massive steal of the draft. i reckon he'd be a top 3 pick if not for his injury. and of all the teams we're probably in the best position to draft someone like that as we don't need the immediate impact quite as much.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KYSAIAH KROPINYERI PICKETT
Agreed. i think pick 28 is appropriate. but there is a risk someone will pinch him earlier

he's got a really nice blend of toughness, class and work ethic.

Nearest the Pin
3. Jackson 10. Pickett 28. Jeremy Sharp

Tom Green (Drafted by GWS Giants)
A much more fair system would be academy bidding etc occurs before the draft as in teams can bid their picks for that player and if they do the Giants have an opportunity to match. but it means surrendering the picks to that value before the draft.

What to do with Pick 10?
I feel in these situations and it's definitely strange to go from a Prelim to 17th you can afford a little bit of room to take a risk with those picks. however, i would only do that with 1. if we take Jackson we should take best avaliable at 10 if we take Green or Young we should be able to take a weightman or Pickett a little early if that's who we really want. I see a bit of the MFC trying to be too clever in this.

I wasn't a fan of trading 8 either, and it now appears we are a chance to miss out on the Jackson/Young combo but hopefully whatever we do with pick 10 comes off. it feels a pretty big gamble. If it were me in charge i think i'd be looking to trade 28 and our future second from the Hawks to Port for pick 18 Pick 3 to the Dockers for 7, 8 - they'll be desperate for Luke Jackson and likely bid on Green which helps us 7 - Young 8 - Ash 10 - Weightman 18 - Pickett and our other two list spots are filled by Brown and Bennell

Tom Green (Drafted by GWS Giants)
I think there is a very good chance the Giants wouldn't match the bid for Green so i guess it comes down to who we rate 3 in this draft.

I get the feeling we'll be trying to split the pick in order to get both Picket and Weightman if at all possible.

I reckon i'd prefer to grab 12 and 18 off Port Get Serong at 12 and hope that Pickett makes it to 18 which he may well.

12 and 18 would be good Jackson 3 Weightman 12 Pickett 18

What to do with Pick 10?
we would only do it if the guy we want will be there at 15. if they're set on Weightman for example it make sense to improve that third pick as much as possible

Phantom Drafts
I wonder if part of the deal with Freo included a hand shake deal to pass on Young if he were to make it that far?
-
Phantom Drafts
I will eat my hat if Hayden Young gets to pick 10. surely Fremantle would grab him at pick 7 if he even gets that far.

The Splitting of Pick 8
i am not sure what i think of that deal. i feel like the talent in this draft drops off a bit outside of the top 12 or so. i reckon we should grab Jackson or Young at 3 one of Ash/Stephens/Serong at 10 and best avaliable at 28
-
The Splitting of Pick 8
Pickett likely to make it to 28?
-
The Splitting of Pick 8
Freo's 2 picks are interesting. i suspect they'll take Robertson and either Ash or Stephens. i reckon the Blues will grab the other or Serong and we will get whichever is left.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
He's a bloody hard player to find a comparison for. maybe a more mobile Mitch Clark with a basketball background.

The Splitting of Pick 8
Brodie Grundy was a first round pick, granted he slid down the order further than was expected. Ben McEvoy was also from memory.
