I think the reality with Steele is that he's not going to get a game there and that's why he's leaving so he might well be good at another club but i doubt the Giants are going to demand the world for him, i certainly wouldn't be giving up an established best 22 leader if i didn't have to. If the Suns wanted Armo and their first rounder to get O'meara over the line that's a different story.
-
Geez the Saints get a bath in that deal. personally i think O'meara is going to the Saints, it'll be a trade for their 2016 first round pick and a player imo
-
My god this thread is rubbish, he started the season as one of the best mids in the comp and he's tired and been tagged, he's very young, he'll learn and build his fitness like the rest of our side. i am 100% sure Jack Viney is of no concern to the coaching staff, he'll be a jet for the next 10 years, it'll be for the MFC and he'll be our next captain, he got touched up by Danger sure, but basically everyone who's come up against Danger this year has.

Who are the Dees chasing for 2017 and at what cost?
Ted Lasso replied to junk's topic in Melbourne Demons
The club is keen for Goodwin to have an experienced assistant to help out Goodwin, there was hope that Roosy would stick around in some capacity and help fill that role but now that's not an option we're looking at experienced quality assistant coaches to come in. I would think Sanderson would be a great choice but it sounds as though he's stitched up elsewhere, but with montgomery now out of the Doggies and some other guys around as well there will be a good option out there, I personally think Leigh Tudor would be a great get, he's been at multiple successful clubs and is extremely highly rated as an Assistant, i also wouldn't be against bringing in Cameron Bruce, bit of a Melbourne flavour who's been under Clarko for the last few years, multiple flags as an assistant coach, considered a strong candidate for taking the next step within Hawthorn but probably not quite in the next batch to be signed by clubs just yet so would get a solid 3-4 years out of him -
He only mentioned the Swans 658 times in his final post game speech for the MFC, amazing, there was a period there where people seriously doubted he could get it under 1000, he's come a long way, much like the club.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Ted Lasso replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
I can't believe some of the critics, Jesse is a second year player, he's still miles ahead of any key forward i can remember in their second year in the modern history of the comp and he's definitely been down this year. Jesse will enjoy some time off, come back in shape, get his goal kicking sorted and i am backing him to kick 60 next year and get his contract sorted somewhere in between now and round 1, i reckon if he's going to request a trade he'll do it this off season. -
I'm not sure the development totally stops just because guys aren't playing, which there is no substitute for playing games no doubt he's been watching and learning and hopefully a full pre season and he'll be up and firign next year i definitely see the Hodge comparison, but i don't think he's a good enough defender to play back long term, regardless of how good his offensive weapons are, he loses his opponent quite regularly

the only chance we'd have with the Salem/Garland offer is if noone bites and that's the best on the table, coz that's a much better return than letting him walk to the PSD, having said that he won't be coming to the Dees
-
Interested to hear thoughts on the position Salem will play in 2017, will he continue off half back? considering Hibberd is likely coming in and we already have Hunt dominating from half back and some other competition for spots there, with Vince likely playing more of a role there again next year, I personally think he's going to play most of his footy as a Wing/Half forward, we're in a really fortunate position where a lot of our flank players who have been quite young and developing are reaching a point in terms of their fitness where they can have really damaging bursts through the middle, an example of this is Dean Kent who i genuinely think could be an A grade on baller eventually.
-
Curious timing of his announcement, i wonder if the announcement over at North might be freeing up some cash to get O'meara over the line there?
-
Predictions... ND27&ND45 - Michael Hibberd&ND55 Chris Dawes - ND30-45 Jack Grimes to leave via Free agency Jack Trengove to be delisted and re-rookied and i expect us to shop around Col Garland, Lynden Dunn, Alex neal-bullen and Cam Pederson to see if there is any value out there.
-
Aaron VandenBerg, Colin Garland and 2017 first round pick for O'meara rumour has it the Suns have a strong preference for established players over picks.
-
I wonder if this attitude will also extend to Prestia?
-
But i mean if the Suns don't accept an offer in trade week, and he doesn't nominate for the draft, surely there would be a point where his contract ends and he's delisted?
-
If Jaeger simply didn't nominate for the draft would he then become a delisted free agent allowing him to go wherever he wants?
-
reckon the Bombers would jump at 1?
-
if he went into the draft i reckon Freo would grab him with pick 3
-
More to the point, Ball was a great servant of their club and a former captain and i could never understand why that decision was made from there end, they were playing blokes well below him in their side the next year.
-
I know mate, just thinking out loud :D
-
I would laugh so hard if the Bombers offered up pick 1 for O'meara and Prestia and ripped him out of Richmonds clutches!
-
O'meara will just say no to every club other than the one he wants to go to and then enter the draft with a big pricetag on his head so he gets through to them. the GC are going to achieve nothing outside of running the risk of losing him for nothing.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Ted Lasso replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
He named it Roosy... going to be the marquee player for the new Hawaii team that he's starting -
O'meara would be a huge asset to any teams rehab group.
-
I remember him saying after the suspensions were handed down that it was important that the suspensions were held because it was their commitment to clean sport, everything else he's done has been totally disrespectful, he's systematically rigged the system to ensure they lose as little money as possible and shown how important clean sport really is, it's a nice idea so long as it doesn't effect revenue, the integrity of the contest is dead and buried.
-
Surely they can't change a draft rule so close to the draft because it doesn't suit 1 team? Matt Dea would have been of interest to multiple clubs. they have got to stop rewarding the drug cheats for destroying their name.
