Who wrote the MFC player bios? For the likes of Melksham and Hibberd the opening lines draw attention to their involvement in the Essendon supplement scandal. Understandably it's factual, but these two are here for a fresh start and it just doesn't seem right for our club to post this considering it occurred elsewhere. I've checked and no other club seems to do it and I presume neither player would like their new bios stating it. Likewise, the opening lines for some others are negative facts (e.g. Kent and Trengove regarding injury). Shouldn't a player's bio state the type of player they are with reference to their positive traits (on and off the field). Then lead into their achievements or alternatively challenges they've faced (like injury) and how they've been overcome? Rant over, sorry for my negativity, but I think the first two mentioned should be fixed.

Watts at CHF and Hogan at FF for me. Watts' entry into Hogan (or the F50) is at times superb! I also feel Hogan plays his best footy at FF (like the St.K game).
-
B: Jetta T.Mac Hibberd HB: Vince Frost Hunt C: Tyson Jones Salem HF: Petracca Watts Kent FF: Garlett Hogan Weideman R: Gawn Viney Lewis I: Melksham Oliver Brayshaw Stretch* E: O.Mac VB* ANB* Harmes* * = Struggled with that final spot.

Jarryd Roughead's return to health, and football - update
ignition. replied to TeamPlayedFine39's topic in Melbourne Demons
That's a bit Rough! -
All those without the question mark and asterisk I picked up from watching player and staff interviews, as well as mic'ed up training and game day footage. I avoided D'land and fan related nicknames.
-
You're welcome. I was just jotting down what I had heard the players and staff call one another (their actual nicknames). Clarry Choo Choo and CP5 I would consider fan nicknames commonly used on the forum for either fun or shortness (similar to VB for Vandenberg). If you would like I can add those in brackets next to each player? or feel free to take my post above and edit your original post to begin the database (like the contracts thread).

Nice one, and who mentioned or came up with Treebeard? haha

Sam Weideman Increased opportunity, will take the third tall defender, and has increased the size of his frame. I'm predicting him to kick 30 - 45 goals.
-
I don't think there will be three main onballers. I think we'll see a relatively equal rotation of the five you've mentioned, as well as Brayshaw, Petracca, VB, Vince, and possibly Trengove (if fit & in form) having the odd stint. Over the next few years I won't be surprised if we see a slow transition of Jones and Lewis getting more hours up forward and off half back respectively (like Vince in 2016), with Oliver, Brayshaw, and Petracca spending more hours on ball as they're our long-term future. In the meantime, Lewis pointing out orders at the center circle and during stoppage will be a wonderful sight as he'll help catalyze the game day development of our young bloods.

2016 Player Review - # 8 Heritier Lumumba
ignition. replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was under the impression we were only taking two rookies today (please correct me if I'm wrong). Considering we took three is it safe to say "H' will be officially off the list very soon? -
I was always under the impression that he was a rookie selection. I can only guess he was upgraded the following year using pick 68.
-
Aside from our picks I really hope Sam Petrevski-Seton (now of Carlton) succeeds in the AFL environment. The poor bugger was incredibly nervous in an interview with Ben Dixon and I recall seeing a short video of him on the AFL website a week or so ago where he mentioned that he had worked on his vocabulary and linguistics so he was confident enough to speak up during team meetings. Seems like a great young kid and I hope he has a great career (wherever he plays at).
-
I'm a little suprised by the top 10. I don't rate McGrath at no. 1. So I'll call it now, but Will Brodie (Pick #9) will be the best player of the Top 10 selections. Here's hoping we get the "Luke Parker" (whoever that may be) with our first selection to come. EDIT: I'm also a big fan of Bennie Ainsworth.
-
Sorry mate, I misinterpreted your original post and didn't mean to take your words out of context. As for your trade idea, I think Tom plays a vital role in the side and would rather see him play alongside Hurley. Also knowing how much of a workhorse he is, hopefully he sees his kicking as weakness and continues to work on it.
-
We shoudn't have to trade. To my understanding all the banned Essendon players can opt to leave and become free agents due to the club breaching their contract for not providing a safe work environment (Dons recieved the two highest fines possible from WorkSafe).
-
Well his intellect is certainly helping us on field
-
What a [censored] handball from vandenBerg and pis* poor chase to tackle after it.
-
Well another error/ missed tackle from Dawes resulting in a goal. I'm sick of this bloke.
-
Much better quarter. But is Dawes even playing? if so who for? Because every time he gets the ball he's a liability. EDIT: typo
-
F***ing pathetic. I'm getting sick of this s**t. We're our own worst enemy.
-
Dawes is a spud and a half, and to think he's one of the highest paid at the club.
