CASEY: Rd 10 vs Sydney Swans
Swans are 20th on the ladder (out of 21 teams) with only one win for the year. We're 13th on 3.5 wins (1.5 games out of 8) Should be a comfortable win but as usual I'll be looking for system and particularly forward movement and delivery. Tholstrup is probably the key watch.

NON-MFC: Round 12
Two results our way this weekend so far in the "Impossible Dream" Quest. Today's games are again pivotal with a Freo loss and and an upset win by the Tigers over GWS very useful. Not sure about Swans v Suns. Head says Suns simply to further remove Sydney as a finalist but for the absolute optimist (not me) you could make a case for a Suns loss

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
I suspect that in the scheme of things delayed concussion is worse than match day concussion. It's now more than concerning given his age and game style. Culley?

Changes at AFL HQ
I think we can also thank the clubs themselves for that fiasco.

Changes at AFL HQ
It's a medium size franchise business run as if it was BHP. Between the AFL hierarchy and the elite players (top 10 at each club) there's just too many people on the gravy train. Take away betting ads ( remember the AFL get a cut on every bet) and the loss making pay TV companies and you have a very shaky competition. In the short term I see increases in admission prices and memberships. Medium term North will go as there's no money/appetite for a twentieth team. NT government may be prepared to stump up the money a la Tasmania but it's a big ask for such a small economy. Eagles and Adelaide need to be super successful to drive the market in those two States just like Collingwood does here. Freo and Port don't really cut it.

NON-MFC: Round 12
In keeping with the game at a time mantra we need Collingwood to have a big win over the Hawks. Could get us that little bit closer but it's a tough ask to catch 5 (Geelong) or 6 (Hawthorn) who both have a two game and a decent percentage break. That leaves only 7 (Bulldogs) and 8 (GWS) as the only teams we can replace

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
If St Kilda park the bus we could be in trouble. Let's hope we get a decent lead in Q1 and the game opens up from there. If we are to go anywhere this game should be a regulation win

NON-MFC: Round 12
Definitely need a Brisbane win tonight to aid in the Essendon finals demise

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
Interesting article in the Age about our game last week. Ch 7 are criticizing Fox/Kayo for calling the game from Sth Melb instead of the MCG. I wonder where the call will be from for the Alice game. Calling a game off the screen is sub standard to say the least especially if they are getting the same feed we are seeing

Little known fact Duke of Wellington when he was an unknown General in India lead an invasion force to take the Phillipines (Spanish possession at the time). By the time he landed in Penang en route, Spain had changed sides again and the invasion was called off. You have to love Demonland for a cerebral discussion

Time to go Goody?
I don't think so. It depends upon the game plan evolving. I've see the green shoots both at AFL and VFL level. We will have failures this season. It's the nature of the modern game. If both Tracc and Oliver have golden games post bye we might make the 8 but I see the first half of 2026 as being Goody's big test.

We're Not Dead Yet - The 2025 Season
Our competition is in the 6-15 bracket for those who like to play ladder predictor Lose on QB (she lives) and it gets harder. With 11 games completed it's looking like 13 and percentage gets you in. Our percentage is not great but some in the 6-15 bracket are worse. Someone will play a draw so it could even be more complicated. In the immediate sense we need to pass Essendon remembering that they have the extra game against the Suns at the end of the season. (Notionally Suns are second on the ladder at present behind the Pies by only 1%). Anyway let's hopefully enjoy the next two weeks and see where we are. It's a very tough backend of the season as others have mentioned

I'm very concerned that we may not have a few spare weeks for "loading" before our finals series 😁

AFL Mid-Season Draft 2025
Apparently Essendon have four spots open. The situation will likely change before the draft, but eight clubs have at least one list vacancy: Essendon (four), Gold Coast and Western Bulldogs (two each), and West Coast, North Melbourne, Port Adelaide, Collingwood and Carlton (one). https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/drafted-on-wednesday-play-on-thursday-the-players-dons-could-pick-up-amid-injury-crisis-20250526-p5m29y.html
