  1. Ah.. there you have it Collingwood, Essendon and of course Hawthorn = Ratings Don't particularly like the Swans (they have had their success) but there is some inner happiness when Collingwood implodes....
  2. Hi you need to go to the AFL website through your internet browser. You will then be able to access the "listen Live" button and then the raido stations. If your phone does not have one you will need to download a "media player." I used VLC and it worked in the main. Enjoy Vietnam ... a special place and magnificent street food
  3. Brent Sanderson just likened Buddy to Nick Riewoldt. Got me thinking if they were equally healthy and same age which would you put in your team. I would probably go for Riewoldt because I perceive him as more mobile but I must say Buddy for his size is very mobile.
  4. The reality is that it has been that way in employment contracts forever.... no one can force you to work for them and Football is no different. No way would you allow a player to remain in your club if he says he does not want to play for you. The question as I raised before is do you accept his retirement and get nothing or do a deal with Geelong and get something (albeit probably little in the end.) As a very important ancillary question should players be able to specify their destination club in this way. The potentials for abuse are obvious but there are of course precedents save that in this instance Ablett has made it even harder for the Gold Coast by threatening to retire if he does not get to Geelong.
  5. Ablett is a great player and I would welcome him in a heartbeat but he is only going to Geelong. That last element is where the debate should centre. I can understand the desire to return to his "heartland" but I am undecided on whether such a move should be easily allowed. Perhaps there is something special in Gary and his father that tells me it is the way the "football gods" want it to happen. On the other hand should we be hard headed/hearted and say he took the money.. play to your contract etc
  6. Might be a little harsher than I would have put it but in essence absolutely correct. Players have to learn that suspensions are simply not acceptable! We have effectively lost 6 weeks in total where we do not have our best 22 on the field. That is not the way to improve from where we are coming from ... which is a rather low place !!
  7. Sydney v Collingwood Could be an interesting match. One would think Sydney have them covered but .... might be a close one Sydney by 24-30 but I hope it's tighter Light Winds and a maximum of 23 degrees suggest a great night for footy in the Harbour Town !
  8. The most important aim for this year to beat the teams outside the notional 8. In our first six games we play five of those teams. Geelong is not one of them and we are playing them at Docklands. Would be nice to beat Geelong but realistically the following three games are far more important to our season.
  9. Carlton .... in Judd.... Out Kennedy Who won To me Fyfe is similar The only way it works for me is if by some co-incidence we have some short term salary cap room that allows us to massively front load his contract. Let's face it he would not come to MFC because he likes the coffee so it would be big dollars in a bidding war. Hogan and a few others are likely to be asking for real money in a few years. It would be short sighted to say the least to spend it on Fyfe.
  10. Pencilled in as a loss for the moment. Would be nice to win but far more important to maintain confidence for the following three matches. Geelong by less than 24 points is a win
  11. That link to Power without Glory has disappeared by the look of it Tried another link and got Richard and Ana after sex ... fascinating world .... youtube ... if you go beyond the DIY videos which is my usual domain. The other old series I am looking for is Phoenix based loosely on the Russel Street Bombings. Got the first season from my local library but have never been able to find the second season. What did you guys think of the Young Pope?
  12. The AFL are not going to allow challenges to medical reports in the absence of blatant manipulation bordering on fraud. To do so would complicate the MRP process dramatically and expose the AFL to criticism. Unfortunately this is what happens to clubs bordering on the irrelevant (half the clubs at least). If it was Eddie's club there would be outrage. Might sound like MFCSS but we all know its the truth. One wonders however as to how many more ways this club can find to shoot itself in the proverbial foot !!!
  13. Well...... not many saw this coming and those who did were howled down Lucky Vince only got a week or we would be in serious trouble The first six games of this season are ultra important to us. No reason we should not be 5 and 1 thus providing an excellent springboard to attack a position in the 8. Will be very disappointing to say the least if these suspensions contribute to us being say 3 and 3. The MRP system is deliberately weighted against an appeal but I am sure the experts are looking very closely at just that eventuality
  14. This gameplan has been around in a very similar format for years in soccer. Defend and counterattack. The way you break it down is patience and expert delivery. Bombing it in to the striker just means it comes flying back at you on the counterattack. To be honest I am not sure it can be sustained unless you have a few very good forwards who can get free and of course you have other players who are expert at delivery as mentioned by Maldonboy above. If you just put three defenders around the forty metre line the gameplan suffers. I don't profess to have an answer but the problems are obvious.
  15. 3AW reporting in their post match that Hogan and Lewis may be up for review Any thoughts?
  16. Well that was not how I thought this game would go but a win is a win Now for Geelong next week
  17. Season defining (saving) quarter coming up
  18. 5 unanswered goals against a bottom ranked team.... no excuses The game plan is relatively easy to defend against
  19. it reminds me of Burger King at the airport when they went to $5.05 for a meal. Thank heavens for plastic money these days
  20. Geelong v North Almost even scores now and only 15 mins into second quarter... what a pity Perhaps a draw
  21. Early days but at Quarter time : North 38 (6.2)... Geelong 13 (2.1) Might be interesting next week
  22. Yesterday while watching the WCE v Saints match I noticed the use of the overhead shot (on replay) to show the running patterns of all the players in the forward 50 prior to the forward taking a mark. It's probably been around for a while but I have not noticed it before. Interesting seeing the spread of forwards and the problems it causes for a zoning defence
  23. No upside in this game. Win and we have beaten the wooden spooners. Win easily and some will say we were not tested. Win badly and ... well you know what will be said. Lose and all hell will break loose. Bring on 6pm and give me a 60 point lead at half time ... please
  24. Interesting comments by all in that most if not all of the things requested are readily available in many sports broadcasts. The overhead or wide angle coverage is the most obvious. Love or hate Formula 1 but its coverage is fantastic. The message for the sports broadcasters is that the fan is demanding greater bang for their buck whether it be free to air or pay. For the future imagine a gyroscopically stable camera inside the football. For the up close view it is not as silly as one might think. Or perhaps not so attractive but like Race Cam on the formula 1 cars we could have navel cameras on some of the players.
