  1. Thought the umpiring for such a crowded game was excellent. Very few free kicks awarded that I noticed unlike the North v Bears game decided last night by the umpires.
  2. sorry we are a fifty million dollar a year business.... you don't have learners in charge That's what being an assistant is for
  3. '87 marked 23 years out of the finals... it nearly killed this club.. (remember the merger) One finals series in fifteen years... join the dots The club is the environment in which the team performs and our club is lacking. Collingwood may have gone 32 years without a flag but they certainly didn't go 23 years or even 14 without a finals appearance.
  4. If North win... we are seriously bad
  5. We thrashed both of them at VFL level by more than 60 points but for reasons I cannot fathom very few of our VFL players take the next step.
  6. was talking to one of the locals who mentioned that the rumour was that the contractor failed to properly drain the centre. May need some big money spent on it as you say. On the adjoining oval the Cranbourne team were playing. They probably had a bigger crowd.
  7. It all started well as I strolled in the sunshine though the turnstiles to be greeted by John Denver's Take me Home Country Road over the public address. Went to take up my position on the Berwick Hill and almost blown away. The wind blew constantly towards to the Frankston end. As a game this one has to rank with the worst Australian rules exhibition I have watched. Picture 36 men in about one eighth of the ground having a maul. It rarely got much better. Geelong won it with their third quarter when their taller players allowed them to exit the Casey backline. Very hard to do against the wind. Casey players gave their all but hard to judge anyone's game. Smith and Keilty both took strong marks and goaled but forward 50 marks were a rarity. Would add one other point.. the Casey ground needs serious work on its drainage. Took a good walk around the arena at quarter time. In many parts you just sank into the turf. Not really AFL standard. Great to see Casey make it a close game.
  8. A couple of missed scoring opportunities by the demons but they are being outplayed so far this quarter
  9. A Geelong player had a kick on the run from around twenty. Looked to be sailing through the middle and barely scored a point. Although Casey didn't score they probably had more inside fifties than Geelong had in the first quarter. Jkh in everything as you would expect in agame like this. Casey players tapping and punching the ball which is good play in these conditions
  10. Terrible game Ruined by the wind
  11. Strong mark and goal to kielty
  12. Hardly out of our fifty but no score
  13. Scrappy game. Absolute gale blowing to the end the dees are kicking to
  14. Maybe but if we don't know what Josh Wagner delivers there is something wrong. In simple terms he is a level 30 player...outside the 22 but handy backup for a back half shortage. Good thing is that he is not injury prone which seems to be a big issue with our 25-35 range
  15. Some very big games this weekend for shaping the 4 and the eight. Absolute #^&* that ours isn't one of them. I see they are talking of Caleb Daniels as possible AA so there is hope for Spartacus yet.
  16. At the start of the season we would have earmarked this game as an 8 pointer to determine if we made top 4 if not top 2. What can one say
  17. If correct probably means Stretch gets another year with Maynard departing.
  18. With Geelong 7th on the ladder and Casey ninth this is the classic 8 point game. One game and percentage separate the two teams. Geelong only have three players on the injured list so they will be fielding a strong team. No Preuss who has been dominating at this level makes it a tough ask but the weather is 17 degrees with strong northerlies suggesting a relatively pleasant day out.
  19. Oliver is this season becoming another example of an MFC stuff up. Before you argue take a moment and think about it. Oliver and Gawn are the kind you build teams around and we have......
  20. I found this website on the Wandering Wagners... sounds like we need their help Our goal is to help as many people as we can, whether it's big or small, so tell us what we can do! 21. Are you ready to join the dark side.. come across to the thread that will probably outgrow the Watts and Hogan have to go /stay discussions Agree... Lewis has no place in this team.. (respect his ability by the way)
  22. "The AFL's TV ratings have fallen considerably, with a 12.8 per cent decline to the end of their regular season. Cumulative season audience figures for the two codes highlight the NRL's dominance. The NRL's cumulative audience this season was 94.3 million, compared to the AFL's live audience of 89.2m." From the SMH of September 10 2018 PS.. don't forget that the NRL figures include three State of Origin Games which are massive television events. PPS.. the comparison is made pre finals so perhaps AFL caught up
  23. starting to look like that... has the feel of Dunn and Garland.. pity
  24. my guess is Dunkley, Baker, Corey Wagner and Tim Smith PS just noticed Salem named in the forward pocket
