  1. Have you ever considered a role in real estate?
  2. Looking forward to the gameplan discussion on the main board over the quiet of the summer months.
  3. Buddy's done for. Maybe good for 40 goals if he could get on the park and had good delivery. At best that would happen for 2020. More likely 12 games and 10-20 goals. His one remaining weapon is his ability to kick a goal from 55. Sad because he is a great player and if it wasn't for that ridiculous contract the Swans have he would have retired and assumed his place among the media in 2020.
  4. nope...it would be like bringing back Mark Jackson.... a real circus and we would end up a laughing stock
  5. Must have missed it though I did go to 3 or 4 Casey games in the second half of the season. 11goals for a season where he played 21 games... nothing wonderful. Not saying it didn't happen but "incredible"smacks of hyperbole. Good luck next year
  6. O no.... please tell me we are getting a decent gameplan and not the failed crash and bang of the last few years
  7. Thanks....I thought the same thing but as I had never herd the term before it interested me. Would also be useful if they listed things like left or right footed and my favourite.... can kick both feet and turn both ways.
  8. I am the first to admit that I'm against splitting the pick but after having a look at the positions played by the top 15 picks in the Power rankings I am coming around to it. I assume we are in desperate need of an outside mid. Other than the touted pick1the next player described as an outside mid is Trent Bianco who is ranked 14. (Sounds okay but might be too short at 178cm given the number of small players we have at Casey presently) By the way what in the hell is a "balanced midfielder" as I notice there's a couple of those
  9. Taylor looks like someone who is worth a punt
  10. understand but if you do a no lose trade then you keep your options open for the other delists whom we don't know about. Is he actually "delisted" as at today? I assume he has just been informed that no contract will be offered as formally his contract runs for a few weeks yet.
  11. Okay.. playing the game when do you tell GWS that you will bid on Green. Mind game wise is it better for them to know and force them to deal or do you leave it unsaid. Strikes me that it requires a player trade from GWS so no good waiting for the night and trading picks etc. My recommendation is that we tell them Green is being actively considered...leaves wiggle room but forces GWS' hand. Caveat.... I have no view as to whether Green is the next best thing after the two top picks but if he clearly is... let's go all out.
  12. For anyone interested here are the 2019 rules for drafting academy players. Similar rules apply for Father/Son Academy Players RuleOn Thursday, 31 October 2019, by 2pm eligible clubs must lodge with the AFL a list of draft-eligible Academy Players it wishes to consider for inclusion on its Primary List or Rookie List. At the National Draft meeting in conjunction with Father-Son bidding nominations, each Club may “bid” for the player. If matched by the Academy Club, the Academy Club will forfeit one or more subsequent selections, to the value of the points required to match the bid. If the Academy Club declines to match the bid, the club with the successful bid uses the selection to secure the player.
  13. Interesting that Preuss was mentioned. Wonder what was on offer. Also no mention of Hannan .... cannot recall who floated some interest in him. For completion no mention of Stretch or JKH. Hope they both find a home.
  14. would you trade for Murray (pick 96 or whatever exchanged for pick 102) or wait for the PSD? Cannot see the difference but perhaps there is some reason. Agree on the small forward but I suspect his comment was reflective of there being no one available. Sounds a little silly though given we were after Elliot. Ah.. the world of spin.
  15. would be good to have a list of who they are (as they become known)and when is the PSD draft. Seems that Murray is possibly the pick of the bunch for a one year contract but I must confess to knowing little about who is available.
  16. haven't given it much thought but in a city like Adelaide being on the Crows Board would be quite an influential position. Wonder what their election structure is like as it could be skewed by the SANFL clubs who own the licence.
  17. calm down mate if you notice I edited the post about 20 seconds later to say "posters" BTW I and many others have been saying for weeks that our second round was too high given the leverage we held with the PSD
  18. on the one hand posters say the difference in the draft picks is nothing and then you say you need to give it up. To me drafting quality young players is a priority for this club so the drop of four places is very important to us. In simple terms it was not necessary for the deal and we should not have given it up. Anyway let's just agree to differ
  19. yeah but at least they have money and a massive waiting list for both membership and reserved seats. Agree though it's hard to put the finger on why they have failed in recent years. Perhaps the AFL needs to consider giving them a priority pick or two !! PS and who can forgive them for that year when we beat them in the finals yet because of the strange rules applying to "the six" they went on to win the GF.
  20. I think you are right. Great year by Gawn but the challenge is and always has been to the coaching department to leverage his dominance. I would like to see him take the ball out of the ruck more and then deliver in a set play to a particular area. At the season's outset most thought Gawn's dominance would deliver us an advantage with the 6-6-6 set up but for reasons that many have tried to explain it didn't. l also think we need to consider resting him for some games or perhaps taking in Preuss (for 3-4 games) and having him ruck for say 60% of the time. Not sure the coaching staff managed him well when the season was done and dusted. He is one of the few discriminators we have. Anyway as I said great year and hopefully he has another injury free year next year.
  21. not if you have effectively been out of the pointy end of the draft for X years and desperately need to top up your quality youngsters. But perhaps we just negotiate differently
  22. good point... looking at it objectively you would think the two possibilities are absolutely line ball. I suppose you could say it's the equivalent of the club backing itself which excites some supporters but PR aside it's strange.
  23. it's actually slightly lower than one in five and near one in six who reach 100 games. Only one in three reach 50. AFL is a tough gig and is by no means a gravy train for the vast bulk of players
  24. Partially agree on the probabilities but see no reason to give up the advantage. We desperately need to recruit some quality youngsters and we need every advantage we can get
